The Casualties are one of those veteran punk bands that have been
around forever. Formed in 1990 in the streets of New York, the band has seen it
all and lived through it all. Now on their ninth album called
"Resistance" and just wrapped up a summer trek of
touring percussionist Marc Eggers or "Meggers" caught up to
discuss their latest release and what else they got lined up for the end of
this year.
1. How amazing do you think 2012
has been for you as a band so far?
Meggers: 2012 Had a series of ups
and downs for the Casualties.. But lately things seem to be on the upside of
things and I'm looking forward to the rest of the year and 2013.
2. You're on your ninth album to
date how does this make you feel?
Meggers: Old. Just joking. Makes me
feel great. It's great to see the band still working hard and people still
supporting us over all these years. I'm also proud of myself and the
band for being able to make another record that's stays true to our sound and
beliefs.
3. What was the inspiration for the
album name Resistance?
Meggers: We all get inspired by
different things as we are four different people. It can be inspiration from a
new or older band. Inspiration from friends and family. And inspiration of what
is going on in our world. What truly inspired the title track, is that we
realized how great it was that we have been able to resist mainstream society
and truly live our lives the way we want to. We call our own shots and think
for ourselves.
4. Why did you pick My Blood. My
Life. Always Forward. as your single and what is the song about?
Meggers: Because the songs kicks
ass. It's a short rant on how people drink to forget how shitty life can be,
but no matter what you'll always have to keeping looking and moving forward and
hope for the best.
5. Will you be shooting a music
video for that song or any other song off this album?
Meggers: We will be shooting a
video very soon hopefully. And yes, it will most likely be for "My Blood.
My Life. Always Forward."
6. Do you have any other side
projects happening?
Meggers: Nope. Always try to keep
the Casualties as my main focus.
7. What does The Casualties have
planned between now and the end of this year?
Meggers: We have a few shows in the
US coming up. Two on the East Coast and 2 on the West Coast, then we're gonna
shoot a video, then a European tour will be starting in Spain on November 1st
and ending in Moscow on December 8th. And a show with the Street Dogs on Dec
22nd.
8. What do you think is the
girliest thing about you?
Meggers: My love for the super
group ABBA.
9. Which member has their way with
the lady's?
Meggers: Guess. (hint, its not me,
Rick, or Jorge.)
10. Who has been the craziest fan
that you have met and what was it they did that made them to be the craziest
fan?
Meggers: Once, this guy in
Minnesota carved The Casualties in his arm with a straight razor. That's was
pretty wild.
11. How many tattoos and piercings
do you have? How many would you like to have by the time your life is over?
Meggers: Tattoos? A bunch, don't
have an exact number with 2 piercings (nose and lip).
12. To hear your songs played on
radio, music videos on the internet and TV - how amazing does that make you
feel?
Meggers: It's cool. Makes me feel
like people still give a shit about the band which i couldn't ask for anything
more.
13. Anything else you want to say
to your fans?
Meggers: As always, Casualties
Army, thank you so much for the years of continued support. Without you we are
absolutely nothing. We will see you on the road. Cheers.
