Lucy T's Tom Eastman Discusses the Murphy Law!
Hailing from Hampshire, Lucy T are a 5-piece alternative rock band that has gained an impressive following of avid fans since re-forming in early 2011. Since that formation the band has released their EP and played showcases left and right and has more to come within the upcoming months! Guitarist Tom Eastman discusses these matters and more!
1. Where are you guys from originally?
Tom: Hampshire, South England.
2. How did you come together?
Tom: Tom and Greg met at work, we were introduced to Thom through a friend and after the original lineup split Ben and Graham were added to the lineup through friends of the band.
3. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Tom: Lucy Tiseman is a character from a comedy series called Jam by Chris Morris, we found her rather amusing in the series and decided to take inspiration from this.
4. What type of band are you?
Tom: We play alternative metal but we love to have fun and laugh.
5. You guys have a unique sound, which bands would you say influence you the most?
Tom: Our influences range from Funeral For A Friend to Architects, Story Of The Year, Alexisonfire but we all listen to a huge variety of music.
6. What was the inspiration for the EP name Murphy's Law?
Tom: We had a bad year as a band with a tour cancelled on us and many other things going wrong. Murphy's Law basically means "If it can go wrong, it will go wrong" and it seemed a pretty good fit at the time.
7. Why did you pick Murphy's Law as your single?
Tom: We believe it was one of our strongest songs on the EP and a lot of people would be able to relate to it.
8. Where did you get the music video for that song?
Tom: We filmed the video for it at a Shurguard (storage facility) in Wokingham, we wanted a location that we hadn't seen used by another band, we always try to be a little different and think outside the box.
9. Tell me about the song Murphy's Law.
Tom: Murphy's Law basically means "If it can go wrong, it will go wrong". The song is about our struggle as a band to move forward as the first year was a tough one.
10. Who writes the songs, what are they about?
Tom: The songs are written as a jamming exercise usually in rehearsals - the whole band contributes and it seems to work well for us doing it this way. Thom writes the majority of the lyrics.
11. Do you guys have any new music in the works?
Tom: Yeah we do! We are back in the studio over the Easter holidays, again with Matt O'Grady to record our next release.
12. What are your dreams and goals?
Tom: We want to be able to eventually tour the world and play all around the globe, we love playing shows!
13. How do you promote your band and shows?
Tom: We promote using our social media, radio, flyers, stickers etc.

www.youtube.com/lucyttv
www.lucytband.com
14. Describe your show, visual and musically?
Tom: Visually we move around a lot always jumping, running about - very energetic, we also have our own light show we have a light box we creates shadows on the ceiling when we stand on it as well as foot switchable side lights. Musically we are very loud and upbeat.
15. What else do you have planned for the rest of this year?
Tom: This year is pretty much over but we are writing new material for our next release. Next year we plan on touring more, recording more music videos, recording a new EP, playing shows all over the country.
16. Anything else you want to add or say?
Tom: If you like your music heavy but melodic and a little different to the typical hardcore band, please come and check us out!
