Praise the metal gods! Swedish progressive metal masters Opeth will grace North America once again in the spring with a solid amount of tour dates. Beginning on April 18, Opeth will begin their string of dates, bringing fellow Swedish prog veterans Katatonia along for the entire trek.
Opeth are also planning some special dates for their lucky New York fans. On April 28 in Clifton Park, N.Y., Opeth frontman Mikael Akerfeldt will host a special evening will perform with Porcupine Tree mastermind and Storm Corrosion collaborator Steven Wilson on top of a full Opeth set. The ‘Heritage’ prog metal heroes will also present “two rare and intimate evenings” on April 29 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and on May 24 in Los Angeles.
Throughout the tour, Opeth will offer VIP packages containing one concert ticket, a meet and greet with the band, early entry to the venue, and an Opeth fan pack consisting of a VIP t-shirt, an exclusive VIP copy of the band’s 2011 album ‘Heritage’ on 12″ double clear vinyl, an Opeth photo book and a commemorative VIP laminate and lanyard.
Additionally, Opeth have been confirmed for the April 20 date of the 2013 New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, where they will share the stage alongside Anthrax, Hatebreed, Suicidal Tendencies and more.
Fan club pre-sales will begin on Jan. 10, followed by public ticket sales on Jan. 11 and 12. Check your local venue for official ticket release dates.
