Sweden glam rockers Crashdiet have been an on/off ordeal since their formation years back, after the death of founding member Dave Lepard the band didn't quite know on whether or not to move forward with the band. After thinking things over they thought it would be for the best and found Simon Cruz becoming a great addiction, with that they went on to release more albums including their fourth to date, "The Savage Playground" and are currently touring about getting the word around that Crashdiet is here and here to stay! Frontman vocalist Simon Cruz took the time while out on the road to discuss the touring routine and this so called Savage Playground of fun!
1. How did you guys come up with your band name?
Simon: The founding now now dead singer Dave Lepard called up the guitarist in the middle of the night saying " Hey man we will be called Crashdiet". Then the guitarist greeted the signer the next day with the phrase" Cool band name man!". Dave didn't recall any of it, but he liked the name so they went for it.
2. You've released your fourth album to date, what runs through your mind?
Simon: On tour at the moment, trying to find a the right balance between being able to drink as much as possible while still singing as good as possible, kinda dead race so far.
3. What are your expectations for this CD?
Simon: I hope it will reach a big audience! Its worth it!
4. How is the current tour going in the U.S.?
Simon: Having fun! Got a great bus, but we're paying for it.
5. What are your favorite things about touring in the U.S.?
Simon: We get to see so many places. The U.S has some cool towns.
6. What did you do to prepare yourselves for this tour?
Simon: I filled myself up with vitamins, rehearsed a the songs, the usual.
7. When it comes to performing each and every night does the time stand still or does it fly by when performing?
Simon: It'd kind of different every night, sometimes it feels like forever, and sometimes it feels like a second. It usually depends on how much you drank the night before.
8. What is one special effect or stage prop that you would want to use or see during your shows?
Simon: The smoking barrels has become like a trademark for the Crashdiet shows. I´d love to bring them to America some day.
9. When it comes to a tour what part of the tour do you think your body is already tired and worn out?
Simon: The worst part is a couple of dates into the tour, the body is in shock and hasn't had a chance to adapt. Further in you find the balance.
10. You guys have toured a lot over the years but where hasn't Crashdiet set foot in?
Simon: Yet to see Asia and Africa!
11. How easy is it to keep the motivation going on a daily basis for Crashdiet?
Simon: Sometimes its hard, especially when your body is exhausted. But its the break on through to the other side that keeps us going.
12. What plans do you have for the rest of this year?
Simon: After America we go to the UK and then Europe. Then its summer!
13. Anything else you want to add for your fans?
Simon: See you guys on tour, lets have a blast!
