Glam rock n' rollers WICKED began not so long ago and are currently hard at work in the studio writing and recording material for their upcoming release. With that the entire band took some time to discuss themselves and much more!
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
WICKED began when two brothers, Chad Michael and Danny Doll, set out to capture the steamy emotion and explosive battle of 1970s Rock & Roll. JP Clubs followed suit and the band began to cultivate their songwriting. They combined the bombast and larger-than-life energy of Kiss with the seductive alien stardust of Ziggy, and the gutsy machismo and vocal harmonies of Starz. From these elements and under influence of intense heat and pressure, WICKED crystallized into the pure essence of Rock & Roll. WICKED completed their hand with jack of diamonds, Scotty V, and the boys immediately slammed their heavy leather heels onto the stage. The WICKED boys, with 100,000 watts of personality, exude the attitudes of Las Vegas, Hollywood, and NYC. Come join the Wild Ones, roll the dice, and wave the sleazy flag of Rock & Roll!
2. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
WICKED's style is very reminiscent of the 1970s & 1980s Rock N Roll, but has a completely new modern twist! Our influences come from bands like The Starz, Bowie, Kiss, New York Dolls, and UFO to name a few!
3. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?
Lyrically we touch subjects like love, heartbreak, rock n roll struggles...basically life! We're just a bunch of rockers fighting for our dream, so a lot of people can relate to us! However, WICKED likes to do all this with an upbeat rockin' vibe!
4. How did you guys come up with your band name?
Our band name "WICKED" comprises of everything that we represent. The Larger than Life mentality, with a never back down resilience!
5. Where are you in the recording process of the new album?
At the moment we are currently in pre-production with our management team and producer. WICKED has been in and out of Subcat Studios to track demos for our up-and-coming debut album!
6. Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?
The best thing about our "WICKED" team is that we have the honor to be teamed up with manager & producer Robert Acquaviva. Our relationship is more like one big band, which makes our writing stronger and tighter, like a gang or family.
7. Where are you recording the album?
At the moment we are tracking demos at Subcat Studios. Our plans for the debut album are currently confidential, but very exciting!
8. What label will be releasing the album?
Part of the mission WICKED is on, is to get the word out and show the world what makes us so unique! We feel very strongly about being able to play just as good live as we can on a recording and we are looking for the right label to complement our "Bombastic Arena Rock N Roll!"
9. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album?
The overall sound of WICKED's material is a grooving' rhythm section, accompanied by a gutsy duo of guitar harmonies, and melodic singing that would make Def Leppard's Mutt Lange stop dead in his tracks!
10. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?
WICKED's goal is to be the next big Arena Act, taking the place of Arena gods like Kiss, Motley Crue, and Def Leppard. Everything we do is based around a strategic plan to become the best!
11. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?
This is a rock n roll band like I said that can replicate everything on stage that we do in the studio, so no.
12. When did you start writing for this album?
Considering our band has been together for just under a year now, we been writing since the start of the band and have found no lack of material!
13. Do you feel any pressure whatsoever?
Absolutely not! We are in no rush to put out anything but the very best material!
14. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?
I don't want to give away too many surprises, but some titles are "Trashed Youth" and "Diamond in the Rough."
15. How is the vibe in the studio?
The studio vibe is very professional and relaxed. We have learned a great deal from our manager in our several trips to track demos!
16. When can we expect the new album to be released?
There is no current release date at this point. Just keep your eyes out for it!
17. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
WICKED has been invited to play ROCKLAHOMA this May along with bands like Guns N Roses, Cheap Trick, Alice in Chains, and Black Veil Brides! That is our first stop this spring on our road to Rock N Roll Domination!
18. Would you like to say or add anything else?
I would like to thank Natalie's World for taking the time to talk to us and I hope all you rockers out there go check us out at www.facebook.com/thebandwicked or on twitter/instagram @Wickedrocknroll and be sure to keep rock n roll alive!
