UNFD is incredibly proud to announce the signing of Dead Letter Circus to the label. The new partnership will see the release of the progressive rock band’s highly anticipated sophomore album in August 2013. The announcement comes with the news that their debut album ‘This Is The Warning’ has been certified Gold as of early April.
Dead Letter Circus have ascended to the forefront of alternative rock, their fresh take striking a chord both locally and abroad. Their 2010 debut album ‘This is the Warning’ hit #2 on the national ARIA charts and spawned 6 radio singles on its way to passing the 35,000 sales mark. The record was voted by fans into triple j’s Hottest 100 Australian Albums Of All Time, and Red Bull listed the band as one of the Top 11 Rock Acts in the world.
But their live performance is where DLC have built their reputation – they’ve sold out multiple national tours in Australia, most recently filling rooms earlier this month on yet another run across the capitals of the country. They’ve played on festivals around the country including Big Day Out, Pyramid Rock, Breath Of Life, Festival of the Sun and many more. They’ve also found time to do stadium shows with Linkin Park and Muse, headline festivals in India and tour right across the USA, where their SXSW performances in 2012 helped them create waves across the world.
UNFD has had some huge success in recent months with hit albums from heavy outfits The Amity Affliction (#1 ARIA Chart) and Northlane (#3 ARIA Chart). The addition of Dead Letter Circus firmly establishes UNFD as the premier hard rock and metal brand in Australia, while also diversifying the niche the label is carving out.
A&R Luke Logemann has released this statement regarding the signing. "Jaddan (owner of UNFD) and I have loved Dead Letter Circus for a long time - we even tried to sign them many years ago to our old label, Boomtown Records. That passion for the band never changed, and when we saw the opportunity to work with them, we did everything we could to make it happen. The precision they play with, the dedication to their craft and the maturity of their song writing makes DLC a one in a million band."
The band has a similar sentiment on the partnership, with vocalist Kim Benzie stating: "In our opinion Unified is the most progressive label in the country. They are thriving within the new model of the music industry and just seem to go from strength to strength with every step they take."
Dead Letter Circus have been recording their follow up album over the last six months and are currently putting the finishing touches on it. They’ve reconvened with long time producer and collaborator Forrester Savell to handle production and mixing duties, creating the best music that the five piece has delivered to date.
The first taste of new music will come next month, with all the usual build up for fans that loved the Project Dead Letter campaign in 2010. UNFD will be making official album announcements in shortly, ahead of what will be one of the biggest Rock / Metal releases of 2013.
