Incura's Kyle Gruninger Gets his Agressive Side on with ths Theatrical Project

Everything about Incura appears to be as unique as their name, and the deeper you dig, the more you realize how true this sentiment really is. With that they went on to release an EP and a full-length both of which are self-titled releases. Vocalist Kyle Gruninger discusses these releases and plans for the future.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members

The band originated in Lethbridge Alberta. We all played around the local music scene as well as went to school together. We decided to move to Vancouver for more exposure and a better chance at making music a carreer. Phil (drums) and Royce( Guitar) joined the band after the move to Vancouver.

2. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music

We are a Theatrical Hard Rock band with a wide variety of influences. Between all the members, it can become quite the mixing of styles.  Bands like Queen, Iron Maiden, Genesis , musicals such as the Phantom of the Opera, and Video game music are all places we draw inspiration from.

3. Who writes the songs?

The songs in INCURA are a collective effort. Each member brings a piece to the puzzle.

4. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

My songs are about Life, the world around me and the people I interact with on a daily basis. I talk about being your own person, and doing what you want to do with your life. Doing what you love not what you're told. Doing everything in your power to get what you feel you deserve. Love....Hate....and everything in between.

5. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in details.)

YES. We write our own songs. In the music industry today I know it’s a rare find hahaha. Every song is different. There is no set way to write or create. Songs can start from a guitar riff, drum beat, vocal line... anything and everything is game when writing with INCURA. Every member is highly skilled in their instrument and takes pride in creating each part. The studio is where we really dial in. Songs can be taken from a 6 min jam.. into a 30 second intro.. you just never know what piece of music is going to end up where.

6. What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?

We just released our debut album "INCURA" public and Media have been very very supportive.  Our music video for "Who You Are" was just put on rotation on Much Loud, Also our single "Turning Blue" is all over radio.

7. How does your EP and full-length album differ and compare to one another

The EP people find is a pre release version of the record. We just printed them for our tour with Apocalyptica the full length record are those 6 songs + 4 more.

8. Can you explain the album artwork for the album

The art work on the album speaks directly to where we feel we are in our musical journey at the moment. We planted this seed a long time ago... we worked hard, toured, had countless hours of rehearsing and watched it grow. Now the tree is above ground and can be seen by the world.... now... how big will it grow :)?

9. What are your expectations for these releases?

You never know what to expect from the records. You just hope fans enjoy it... as far as media , or press or anyone else.... they will say what they want.. but the most important thing to us is our fans. We make music for them, and always promise to put 100% of our work ethic into creating the best music we can.

10. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are always writing new music. We have put together about 6 news songs at the moment

11. What are your upcoming touring or show plans?

We just got back from Canadian Music week, also a cross Canada tour before that. We have been on the road supporting this album and will continue to be on the road non stop.  Summer time brings festivals ... We are slated to play BoonStock with GodSmack and LimpBizkit this June. More festivals will be announced soon :)

12. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

Tour, tour , tour.. and more touring... did i mention being on tour? We have a strong belief that touring is the key element to making a band like INCURA successful.

13. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

www.incura.net

www.soundcloud.com/incura

14. How did the band come up with it's name and what does it mean and represent for the band?

INCURA is a hybrid name created from our old name INVEIN and the Final Fantasy spell "CURA" hence - INCURA. The name represents the MUSIC, the MUSIC Makes the name.... Call your band whatever you want... the music is most important.
