AntropomorphiA Hiatus No More

AntropomorphiA was created under the influence from bands such as Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Infernäl Mäjesty and Bathory in a tiny town in Holland in 1989. Through the years the band wrote, recorded, and later released several demos, albums, and play showcases then they went on hiatus. After sometime passed they reunited having a whole lot more planned. Vocalist and guitarist simply called F spoke to us about coming back from the hiatus and plans on new music.

1. What type of band are you?

F: A metal band.

2. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

F: The unholy alliance that is AntropomorphiA was formed back in 1989, the trinity that forms the bands foundation has remained the same over the years. We started with playing Hellhammer covers, when we started writing our own songs under the name Dethroned Empire the music was in the vain of bands such as Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Bathory and Infernal Majesty. When our music slowly developed towards Death Metal we subsequently changed our name to AntropomorphiA. The band consists out  of S  on bass, M on Drums and F on Vox/Guitar. Yes, we ‘ve recently added J - guitars to our line up, he’s an experienced guitar player who we’ve know for many years. He also played in several prestigious Dutch (death) metal acts since the early '90's.

3. You guys were on hiatus for a while but can you tell me when this hiatus began and when did it come to a end? How has it been to be back in business as AntropomorphiA?

F: Around 1996 things we’re slowly deteriorating so we decided to put the band on hold around ‘98/’99.Mostly due to other projects taking over our time. I kept writing music and arranging AntropomorphiA tracks together with M over the years, sometimes posting new music on myspace at that time. Around 2009 we all our project somewhat simultaneous came to a hold so we decided to record a that album we always wanted to make. Is good to be back on things.

4. Can you tell me why the name, AntropomorphiA and what does it mean?

F: We stole the name from the first pestilence album.

5. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?

F: We practice Occvlt Metal ov Death. I can't say I'm directly influenced by a particular band(s), we've started this in '89 so if I had to name a few influences I'd say early Autopsy, Death, Infernal Majesty, and Bolt Thrower.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

F: Dead, the occult, necromancy, necrophilia.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

F: Yes naturally. Well it's a process that differs from time to time, things have a way of coming to me
How or when is irrelevant to the outcome.

8. Tell me about the songs and video concepts for "Debauchery In Putrefaction" and "Psuchagogia"?

F: Both videos show portray in a small way the lyrical theme of each track. It's a darker and bleaker side of the lyrics.

9. Your second full-length album "Evangelivm Nekromantia" was released not to long ago, but do you guys have any new music in the works?

F: I'm always writing riffs even we don't all use them with AntropomorphiA but the last few weeks I started developing new tracks for the new album.

10. Jos van den Brand is your newest guitar player, why him and how has he been adjusting to the band?

F: We've known him for years so it was an easy choice..no adjustment needed.

11. Can you further explain the reasons behind why your release "Evangelivm Nekromantia" was banned in Germany?

F: There is a 14 page rapport written on it but in short: supposedly our lyrical themes have a bad influence on the youth. So they decided that you can't buy the album if you are under 18.

12. How do you describe your music to people?

F: Occvlt metal ov death.

13. What image do you think your music conveys?

F: I don't care bout image or what we supposed to convey.

14. What inspires you to do what you do?

F: Darkness, death, sex, fire & blood!

17. How does music affect you and the world around you?

F: I live and breath it.

18. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

F: We play Extremefest in Germany in 2 weeks (23th of May) after that we have some time off. We might record new demos for the upcoming album.
