Demon Project Nobody Loces Them Or Do They?

Melodic industrial death metal Russian act Demon Project began as a project of progressive musicians that would soon become something so much more as the years went on. Thus by doing this they wrote, recorded, and played various showcases releasing numerous releases at that, that now years later they still have got that power and passion to carry onward. For this year the demonic insanity that is Demon Project will go onward with even more touring, shows, and new music that is surly not their last.Vocalist and guitarist Dmitry and guitarist Roger were the one's to this demonic entity.

1. What type of band are you?

Demon Project is a band that cannot be categorized or squeezed in some style boundaries. The band plays music that is heavy in it's core, but has different types of forms: melodious, aggressive, emotional, etc.

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

It started as a solo project in 1999. The idea was to mix heavy guitar riffs with synthesized sounds and some folk Russian instruments. The Project introduced a fresh new style that was called "jungle-metal".  The project showed up a lot and became very popular in Siberia. Finally in 2005 project got new members and turned into a band, but musicians decided not to change the name, and the word "project" became a part of a band logo. Now the band has 2 full-length albums released in Europe and Russia, some EPs and demos and 2 videos. Demon Project had participated in major metal festivals in eastern part of Russia and made a number of tours. Nowadays the band is:  Dmitry- vocals, gtr; Roger - gtr, Miha- drums, Alexandr - bass.

3. Where are you from?

The band located in the very central of Russia in the capital of Siberia.

4. Do you think not being from a big city like LA or NY influences your sound?

Location of the band does not affect music nowadays due to globalization. It's only a question of promotion. In big cities the music industry is of course more up-to-date.

5. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Demon Project - it's just what it is. Everybody has it’s demons inside. The question is do you fight with them of worship them.

6. Who are your musical influences?

The band never followed any metal fashion. Demon Project music is inspired by ancient myths and traditional music + original thrash/death metal bands of 80th and 90th, especially Florida death metal.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Dmitry is the main songwriter, he gets all the material to the rehearsals. The band members shears ideas and ad final arrangements. Some of the synth instruments are also added afterwards.

8. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

It’s philosophic stuff. One of the themes is vision of the modern world through the eyes of the ancient tribes. Are we what our forefathers wanted us to be? Are we going the right way?

9. Tell me about the song and video for Nobody Loved You.

"Nobody loved you" is a song based on a Siberian myth of King that died and nobody had regrets, but his Queen. So she decided to enter the world of high spirits to find him.

Dmitry: "We wanted to do the slamming video with no direct story, just musicians + lighting effects. The first part of video shoots were done in one day, but due to some reasons the work was stopped for a couple of months. The new video director decided to ad a female image in the video. The girl was playing the widow Queen that is searching for her King in the dark world of spirits. The Queen is not dead, but definitely not alive, soaring in some liquid substance. The idea was good also because the song has female vocals parts, performed in folk Russian style." The final works were done in short period of time and video was presented to public on one of the band's shows in spring 2013.

10. Do you guys have any new music in the works?

Right now the band in a recording process of the new album. It will be short album with 5-6 songs. There will be at least one video for this album. The plan is to finish album and video in July.

11. What are your upcoming plans for this year?

New album, European tour in summer and Russian tour in autumn, at least one new video, some more endorsements. Also new merch is coming soon.

12. What do you hope for in 2013?

Our dream is to get our music heard by major audience. Hope to get popular in America and go in large US/Canada tours, probably not in 2013 but hopefully next year.

13. Anything else you'd like to say or add?

Thank you for your interest, Natalie! As for our fans - stay straight and brutal!  Hope to see you on our shows!
