Six-Point Lead Only Tell Light Lies?

The Six-Point Lead project was born in the summer 2008 when Benny (Disarmonia Mundi, Dying Awkward Angel), Sergio (Art Of Darkness, Dying Awkward Angel), Cosimo (Broken Art, Dying Awkward Angel) and Claudio (Disarmonia Mundi) met each other to start up a new metal band, something more catchy and more aggressive than the bands they've been in before. With this they wrote, recorded, played shows, and so much more it's lead them to their latest release "Light Lies" and these guys talk of more plans and more music is underway!

1. Can I get a backstory on the band/band biography?

We all come from different musical backgrounds. I was the singer of Disarmonia Mundi while Sergio (guitar) was playing in another death-thrash band from Turin called Art of Darkness. Our drummer Cosimo De Nola at the time was playing hardcore in southern Italy - where he comes from. We met eight years ago in a Turin band called Dying Awkward Angel and after some more years and bands and through different roads we met again on 2009 and decided to create a new band to summarize all our experiences, with a couple of other our friends, and we called this band Six-Point Lead. A first EP, a change of line-up  - when Alessandro (guitar) and Salvatore (bass) joined us - and then the complete album, that's the full story!

2. How did you guys come up with your band name?

Sergio found this name watching an US news channel during the presidential campaign, one of the candidates had a "six-point lead" and we just liked the meaning and the sound.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based in Turin, north western Italy, where we live. The metal scene in Italy is quite poor, unfortunately, but we have very good bands such as Sadist, Node, and many others.

4. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

We stay away from religious or politic subjects, we prefer to just show and tell the sensations coming from personal experiences, so we talk about video games, love, news stories, history. Not a specific topic, and usually we don't even like to give an ethical judgement, we leave that to the listener.

5. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?

As we all have different musical backgrounds, we also have different tastes. To list a few, we like Pantera, InFlames, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir, Carcass, Nevermore, Meshuggah, Dissection, Darkane and many many more.

6. Is there any story or concept behind Light Lies title?

No, once again we like wordplay's and unclear meanings, and this title can actually be interpreted in some different ways, and we want the listener to chose the one he prefers.

7. Who produced Light Lies and what was it like working with them?

It was great because we produced it and we like ourselves very much ^_^ we chose to spend one year and an half to slowly compose and arrange and record these 13 tracks, so the only way to do this without anyone running after a deadline, was to do it yourself. We all have more than 10 years of music behind, so we thought to have now enough experience for that, and we like the result.

8. Who did the cover art for Light Lies and how much input did you have on it?

All the artwork is done by Sergio. We started first on the cover of our first EP General Anaesthesia with a structure: one eye, abstract elements and a white background. We wanted to have a white cover because it is quite different from the usual metal cover art, and we liked the eye impact and the style. Therefore we decided to do it again on the full length album light lies, and we used again the same structure, maybe we'll do it again!

9. Do you guys have any new music in the works as far as a follow-up release?

No, we are rehearsing to be ready for the stage. After almost two years of studio we need it!

10. You released a video for the song, Red can you tell me about the song and video's concept?

Red tells about woman, some kind of a goddess to the common man, she is totally aware of its superiority and describes herself in a mania of grandeur. The video has been recorded with a GoPro during a rehearsal session on April and we chose to use a cartoon style, coming straight from our passion for video games as GTA, and used a dominant red on the walls for obvious reasons.

11. What are your upcoming touring/show plans?

We will do an Italian tour during summer and then try to play wherever it's possible.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can watch to some videos, including a 10 minutes preview of the album, on youtube.com/sixpointlead. Our music can be purchased on almost every digital music store, starting from iTunes, Amazon, Google PlayStore. Search for Light Lies and you'll find it!

13. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We wanted to write a solid but varied album, so in 13 tracks you can listen to death, thrash, hardcore, ballads, catchy choruses, more death and even an acoustic instrumental. I personally chose to use at least five different kinds of voice, so what we did is to condense all our experiences and tastes in an album but we also wanted that to sound homogeneous. So, we'd like the listener to enjoy this variety, to find his personal dimension somewhere during the first play. Starting from there he can get involved and start to explore the rest, the many different shades of our musical tastes and experiences.

14. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

We will never stop updating our page facebook.com/sixpointlead where our fans will find new pictures, videos, any possible news about tours or a new composing session. The idea is to rehears, tour anywhere, to produce ourselves a professional video, then come back to writing and start again.

15. Any final words of wisdom?

We thank you for this interview, we invite you all to taste our music, if you like it to "spread the word" and to let us know what you think about it. We hope you will enjoy Light Lies as we loved to write it! Cheers from Italy!
