Snow White's Poison Bite Gets Spooky!
If you are a fan of metal or any of its various sub genres, you are well aware that some of our heaviest bands actually hail from the cold, unforgiving eastern parts of Europe. It has become overwhelmingly clear that Finnish exports deliver hard hitting riffs and gut wrenching screams time and time again. That said, it should come as no surprise that Joensuu, Finland has brought us our newest dream team in the form of the four-piece alternative horror-punk band, SNOW WHITE’S POISON BITE.
Formed in 2007 as a simple “screamo” band, by singer/songwriter Allan Cotterill a.k.a Jeremy Thirteenth the band has since evolved into something much more than that. The band released two EP’s under a small Finnish label, Poko Records. Breaking ground as one of Finland’s very first “screaming, hardcore” bands and quickly gathered a large following, winning fans over with their commitment to delivering intensity on every level.
After signing a recording contract with Sound of Finland’s Hyeena Trax in 2010, they released their long awaited debut album, The Story of Kristy Killings, which was sold worldwide. The album served as a reintroduction to their fans, revealing a far more conceptual appeal and attitude. with more of a horror-rock style . Reflected in not only their appearance but their riffs as well, SNOW WHITE’S POISON BITE have become Finnish rock icons, with all eyes on them. As most bands do, SNOW WHITE’S POISON BITE underwent a drastic lineup change in early May 2011. Leaving band-founder, vocalist Allan Cotterill, as the only original member.
Determined to keep his fans happy and the band alive, Allan went to work, searching for new members to create the new and improved SNOW WHITE’S POISON BITE. Today, the bands high-energy line up consists of vocalist Allan “Jeremy Thirteenth” Cotterill, guitarist Tuomo “Tupi” Raisanen, bassist Hannu “Bobo” Saarimaa and drummer Niko "Hoker Dine" Hyttinen. The new, tailor-made team has currently recorded their second studio album creating their highly anticipated Victory Records debut full-length album, titled "Featuring: Dr.Gruesome And The Gruesome Gory Horror Show".
Frontman vocalist Jeremy Thirteen took the time to discuss their current time in the U.S. with the numerous touring that they have done so far and how much more that can take and have planned for this year!
Frontman vocalist Jeremy Thirteen took the time to discuss their current time in the U.S. with the numerous touring that they have done so far and how much more that can take and have planned for this year!
1. Welcome to the U.S. what's the experience been like for you so far and is it what you pictured it would be? Do you think it's better or worse than what you expected?
Jeremy: Hi, there! I actually came over here with no expectations. Everything has been good so far and I'm really happy to see our fans at all the shows.
2. You guys were a part of the Bryan Stars Tours, how was that and what was that like for you?
Jeremy: It was a fun tour for all of us. We're just happy to be here in the US. Lots of fans came out to see us.
3. What are your favorite things about touring in the U.S.?
Jeremy: Seeing new places and meeting lots of interesting people.
4. Do you think not being from the U.S. influences your sound?
Jeremy: I guess the dark and cold nights of Finland inspire me to write what I write. I wouldn't mind living in the US.
5. Have you noticed the economy affecting your tour attendance or merch sales?
Jeremy: Not really. This is our first time in America and things have been going well, I'm happy with that and maybe next time it will be even better.
6. During your shows when you do throw on the face paint, how long does it take each member to get ready?
Jeremy: It takes us all around 40 minutes to do.
7. For your stage set up you of course have props, you have the banners with the band's name on it, but once a tour or show is over, where do those props go, like if you keep them at your house do you set them up showing off?
Jeremy: The banners we're using now will stay here in America.
8. Aside from those props will we be seeing an actual Dr. Gruesome roaming on stage?
Jeremy: When we have the money I would love to do that. Maybe in the future!
9. What the best prank you've played on band mates or other bands?
Jeremy: Haha! I haven't really done any pranks yet.
10. Do you have any tour horror stories?
Jeremy: So far I don't.
11. Your first album, The Story of Kristy Killings, was only released to the U.S. digitally through iTunes, we will be seeing a re-release and a physical release?
Jeremy: I would like to re-release it here in America.
12. Do you ever see the Kristy Killings character and Dr. Gruesome to come together in anyway or is the Kristy Killings character and time done?
Jeremy: Who knows? Only the future will tell. I don't see it happening right away.
13. What else can the fans expect to see from you guys for this year?
Jeremy: We have some more tours we're working on and I would like to do another video. Just stay tuned everybody!

Death Valley High - Positive Euth
Californian quartet Death Valley High has always kept that
doom gloom pop punk vibe dating back to their debut release “The Similarities
of the Loveless and the Undead” which would later lead to follow-up "Doom,
In Full Bloom" and now that an EP in honor of the doomsday that was said
to be but never was, "Survival Program". It has all come down to
this..... their third full-length to date simply titled "Positive
Euth". It's an evolutionary that makes the implications that much better and
larger for them because this is just the beginning.
"Positive Euth is the rebirth or the reawakening,"
affirms Reyka. "It's all about shedding dead layers and limbs, and
re-animating. We've evolved in the three most important areas as musicians,
songwriters, and drinkers. We survived doomsday to be positively undead."
Thus this release continues that doom gloom pop punk tradition except
refreshes' it if you will. Songs like "How2Kill", "Commit To
Knife", "Undead Eat Lead", "Batdanse", and "Blood
Drive", collect that essence that is Death Valley High. It's heavy built
on the past releases hands down but it really defines who these guys are and
who they have come to be as individuals and musicians. It goes to the extremes
of achievement leaving nothing untouched or behind.
The instruments work well throughout this entire release,
everything is put in accordance with one another, working in terms of following
through if you will, bass, guitar, drums, and vocals come together as one whole
focus, like a whole circle coming round and round making the material pitch
perfect in such detail it's truly flawless yet endless.....
You will not want to look away from this or Death Valley
High because these guys have a message to send out and it's that "We want
listeners to know that they don't have to feel like folk, indie, or pop music
is the instant go-to. We want to bridge like-minded fans and bands to stand up
for all sorts of music with teeth. We want to move from an uncategorized
rockstatus into an uncategorized movement."
AVENGED SEVENFOLD ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM AND MORE
Avenged Sevenfold today announced Warner Bros. Records would release Hail To The King, their sixth studio album, on August 27, 2013. Produced by Mike Elizondo, Hail To The King is the follow up to the band's 2010 release, Nightmare, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, Hard Rock Chart and Digital Chart. On August 26th, one day before the release of Hail To The King, Avenged Sevenfold will play a free show for their fans at the Hollywood Palladium. The show is a special thank you to their fans and for fans to celebrate the release of the new album with the band. Stay tuned for entry details, which will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Avenged Sevenfold's 5th studio album, Nightmare, was also produced by Mike Elizondo and earned the band it's highest ever debut on the Billboard album chart when it took the Number One spot and spawned three Number One, hit-singles "Nightmare", "So Far Away" and "Welcome To The Family". "Nightmare" broke radio records and was the most played current song at Rock Radio for all of 2010. The New York Times called the band "Downright inevitable," while Guitar World hailed "Avenged Sevenfold are the undisputed kings of modern American badass rock and roll. A worthy successor to Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses and KISS."

They have achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold awards for album sales in nearly a dozen countries and have sold out arenas the world over and headlined some of the worlds biggest and most prestigious music festivals playing to over one million people. Due to an overwhelming demand from the United States troops abroad, Avenged Sevenfold embarked on a USO tour in the Middle East including stops in Kuwait and tour of Iraq performing for US soldiers stationed abroad.
Avenged Sevenfold made an unprecedented appearance as characters in the Call of Duty Black Ops 2 video game in November 2012. The game was the biggest selling video game of all time and featured the band's performance of a song written for the game, 'Carry On,' which then went on to Top the Billboard Monitor chart on January 13, 2013.
Avenged Sevenfold achieved worldwide success with their platinum 2005 breakthrough City Of Evil, which featured the wildly popular single "Bat Country." The band quickly became known for their spectacular live shows and continues to sell out arenas worldwide. In 2007, their self-titled album Avenged Sevenfold debuted at #1 on the Billboard Alternative, Hard, and Rock Charts and #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. It spawned the singles "Almost Easy," "Afterlife," and "Scream" and has sold over a million units worldwide. Famous Last Words "The Show Must Go On" Video Released
Famous Last Words have released their new video for "The Show Must Go On" as an exclusive premiere via Noisecreep! The video features an array of activity and is one that shall not be missed! Check it out HERE.
Malice In Wonderland Gets Wicked with Chris Wicked!
Malice In Wonderland burst onto the Scandinavian rock scene with their self titled debut album in 2005. Led by hit single Lucifer’s Town the band was quickly labelled as one of the most promising underground rock acts and their fan base grew quickly with fan clubs and supporters in every corner of the world. Since then the band have toured Europe and Asia, played with renowned artists like Def Leppard and appeared on several TV-shows and productions and released several singles. Through the course of their career they have also spent the time writing and recording a few albums with new work underway and more shows lined up for the coming future as well. Frontman vocalist Chris Wicked talked to me again after our last interview 4 years ago, about the band he's cherished throughout all these years.....
1. Let’s start by getting our readers up to date on what’s the latest happening with Malice In Wonderland?
Chris: Hey! We have recorded a new album entitled "The Royal Brigade" that will be released in the autumn. We recently put out the first video from the album, a song called "Live For Today". On the 1st of July we will release the double single "Live For Today/New Year's Eve" that will be available on iTunes and most other digital platforms. A lyrics video for “New Year's Eve” will also be put out soon. So that's basically what's going on at this very minute.
2. Can I get a backstory on the band/ band biography?
Chris: Alright! Short story. I started the band back in the 90's, but then I was the keyboard player. Around 2000 we parted with our singer and I took over the microphone. There's been some line-up changes over the years, but Tracy Loveless (guitar) has been with me since 2004 and we now have a steady line-up that includes Sid Silva (bass) and Ed Kelly (drums). We have released one full length album and several singles and toured around the world. New singles are on the way as well as a full length album during the autumn.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Chris: We are based in Bergen, Norway. There is a big black metal scene here but not many rock bands like us unfortunately. My favorite Bergen band is Taake which are great friends of ours. I recommend them if you're into Norwegian black metal!
4. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
Chris: Our style is hard rock with influences from goth and glam one might say. In the beginning bands like Paradise Lost, Type O Negative and My Dying Bride were our biggest influences. Later on we mixed this with influences from L.A. bands like Motley Crue and Cinderella. Nowadays we find inspiration from everywhere, also our past, 'cause we know pretty well what Malice In Wonderland is all about now.
5. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?
Chris: We deal with several topics, but one of the main theme on this record is unity. Surround yourself with people who wish you well, believe in yourself and don't try to be like everybody else. Uniqueness is a good thing! This is what The Royal Brigade is all about.
6. Can you tell me why "Diamonds & Debauchery" was not released and does it plan on seeing a release?
Chris: The whole recording process has been more of an evolution than a recording session. We've been writing songs constantly also during the recording of “Diamonds & Debauchery”. We felt the new songs were more the direction we wanted to go in, so we started over again and chose a new album title, “The Royal Brigade”. A couple of songs that were intended to be on “Diamonds & Debauchery” are featured on “The Royal Brigade”, the rest of them are put on hold. The ones that didn't made it we still feel are great songs so they might see the light of day someday. One song, "The Devil May Care", will be a bonus track on the "Live For Today/New Years Eve” double single though.
7. What was the recording process like this time around? Was there anything different that happened or was it the same old studio thing?
Chris: As I said it was more like an evolution, were we recorded on several locations during a couple of years. We are really pleased with the result, but we won't do it like this ever again. I like to get in and record the album during a shorter period and get done with it.
8. Can you tell us how this album differs from the previous ones? What can we expect and what is the message behind it?
Chris: It's a really diverse album. We seldom write the same song twice so to speak and I think that's the strong point on this album. I think everyone can find something they like on this record from the hard song to the more softer ones. I think with this album we will show people what Malice In Wonderland is all about. Strong melodic songs with allot of atmosphere. We have found ourselves with this album and it's bit more rockier than our previous releases.
9. A video for the track “Live For Today” has been released. How was the process behind making the video?
Chris: It was a really cool process! I'm an animal freak with an interest for reptiles so it was allot of fun having snakes, spiders and even a crocodile featured in the video. For the film crew it was a challenge though working so close with these animals, but that just made the setting more intense! ;-)
10. Could you describe your song writing process? What comes first – the music or the lyrics?
Chris: The music and melodies comes first and then I write the lyrics based on the feeling I get from the songs that has been written. Tracy and I are the main song writers, but we arrange them as a band so everybody can put their stamp on it.
11. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?
Chris: No, on the last album we used instruments like cello, violin, piano and saxophone. This time around we wanted it to rock and not include so many session players. There is a little bit of banjo on one song though.
12. Is there any story or concept behind The Royal Brigade title?
Chris: The album title represent the way we look upon ourselves and the way we look upon the people who believe in us and support us. Together we ARE The Royal Brigade! We have been through allot of crap, but we have ride off the storm and come out stronger in the end. It is a fitting title for the next chapter of Malice In Wonderland and it goes well for the lyrical theme of the album as well. There will also be a song on the record with that title.
13. Who produced The Royal Brigade and what was it like working with them?
Chris: We produced it ourselves and that's why it has taken so bloody long time to complete it. Legendary John Fryer (Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails etc.) did mix the album though. A true gentleman and a pleasure to work with!
14. Who did the cover art for The Royal Brigade and how much input did you have on it?
Chris: The artwork is not done yet so can't tell much about that one at the moment. The cover for the upcoming singles is just a band pic done by Kristine Ristesund.
15. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?
Chris: Our goal was basically just to make great songs and not thinking so much about what the album was gonna sound like. To focus on each song and make them as strong as possible. I think we succeeded on that although it took longer than expected he, he.
16. When can we expect the new album to be released?
Chris: Autumn 2013.
17. Has Malice In Wonderland ever played in the States or plan to do so in the future? What are your touring plans for this year?
Chris: Never played the States before but it's something we really wanna do in the future although the are no concrete plans right now. This year we will play gigs in Norway, Finland and hopefully Germany.
18. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Chris: Releasing the double single together with a lyrics video for New Year's Eve, playing shows, and writing songs for the next release. Basically just keep on moving forward!
19. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Chris: The best ways to keep track is to join us on our facebook: www.facebook.com/maliceinwonderlandof where you'll find music and videos. www.youtube.com/MaliceinWonderlandOf is also a channel I recommend people to subscribe to. On www.malice-in-wonderland.com you'll find links to all our official channels. We are of course featured on iTunes, Spotify and most other digital platforms as well where you can purchase our music. You can also buy music directly from the band HERE.
20. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Chris: I want them to like the sound and the melodies enough to check out more of our material. We are not reinventing the wheel with our music, we've never claimed to, but we write good songs and we basically just want people to dig our music enough to become fans, buy our music and come to our shows. We want all cool people to be part of The Royal Brigade!
21. Any final words of wisdom?
Chris: Thanks to everyone who support us, it means the world to us! Be cool and stay Malice! And check out our new video HERE.

Obsolesce - Pure Agrarian Metal
California locals Obsolesce have got a little album they like to call "Pure Agrarian Metal" now you're probably wondering what does agrarian mean and why is it together with metal? Well the term agrarian refers to farmers so farmers who are metal? Guess so.....
These guys consider their style of music to be both aggressive and dynamic hence the songs "Soul with a Corpse", "Impervious to Pain", and "What Grows Inside?" these selections really showcases the band's aggressive yet dynamic sides as they say, allowing the instrumentals to come together showing that soft yet mean side put together into one. The vocals are purely progressive built on that aggressive with nothing but screaming attics coming at you left and right making the music that more memorable.
While listening to them this release brought to mind acts such as DevilDriver meets classic heavy metal with an edge of modern metal thrown in surly to be a hit not to miss.
MACHINE HEAD ANNOUNCES NEW BASSIST
It is with great pride and excitement that Machine Head announce Jared MacEachern as their new bass player. Jared has already begun rehearsals for the upcoming Rockstar Mayhem U.S. summer festival tour and will soon relocate from North Carolina to Northern California to begin pre-production for Machine Head's upcoming 8th studio release.
Some fans might remember MacEachern from 2007's The Black Tyranny Tour, playing with his previous band Sanctity. Machine Head, challenged to find a fill-in bass player for the North American tour after an injury sidelined their then-4-stringer, also found themselves in need of someone to sing harmony with singer/guitarist Robb Flynn. Flynn remembers, "We had locked in Brandon Sigmund of local boys Hostility to play bass on that tour, but we soon realized we'd need someone to hit the high harmonies. Our A&R guy Monte Conner recommended Jared since he was already on the tour, and that ended up being a great call. Jared flew out a few days before the tour and rehearsed with us and did great. What was most impressive about the whole thing was that he was doing double duty - opening for Machine Head with his band at the time Sanctity, and then later singing with us. He would stay sober until after our set, and often get in the van and drive all night. His seriousness and dedication was awesome to see and it stuck with us".
Earlier this year, Machine Head conducted an extensive search for candidates through various channels, the most fruitful of which proved to be video submissions. Sifting through more than 400 videos, the band personally reviewed and evaluated everyone's performances, including MacEachern, who made the short list without a second thought. Lead guitarist Phil Demmel recalls, "There were dozens of amazing players, and it was interesting to watch each one take on our tunes. One of our biggest criteria for this gig was to be able to sing the high harmonies. That was our litmus test. And Jared passed with flying colors."
After reviewing all of the submissions, the band narrowed down the 400+ candidates to a short list of 7, each of whom took a trip to Oakland to perform a handful of songs in person and spend the day hanging with the band. Remembers Drummer Dave McClain, "Jared came in to the audition and just killed it! Besides being able to nail the bass and vocal harmonies, he also had the vibe and personality to make it feel like we were a BAND again. It was a great feeling and we all knew he was the guy."
MacEachern first picked up concert bass at 12 and around the same time, discovered metal. Jared recalls, "I heard the song 'Unforgiven' and really liked it. The next day my friend gave me 'Kill 'Em All' and it was over. I became completely enamored with all the metal bands of that time; Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Pantera, but when it came to bass, it was all about Cliff Burton, he was, and is my dude." With a brief stint at the Brevard School for Music Performance, Jared has consistently played bass for the past 22 years, most notably in Sanctity, where oddly enough, the band needed a guitar player. "That was purely out of necessity" he explains, "I'd been a bass player, but that gig opened up and I gave it a shot on the 6-stringer."
After extensive global touring with Sanctity and the birth of his daughter in 2007, the band's release from their label ignited Jared's sense of responsibility and he quit the band to focus on her. But music stayed a part of his life and he continued to jam locally throughout the south with death metal bands From A Dig and Telic, until he saw Machine Head were in need and thought he'd try out.
Frontman Robb Flynn reflects, "We really wanted a guy that was hungry for this, someone who could live and breathe this with us. Dave would joke around that we didn't want to get someone too green that'd be like 'oh my god, is this a dressing room?!', but we also didn't want someone who was too jaded by the whole thing and 'been there done that'. We thought the perfect guy would be someone who'd paid some dues, who had done 9 or 10 crummy van tours, and wasn't broken by that, but inspired to keep going and play music, and in many ways that was Jared. I mean hell, the guy's only rode in a bus for two nights, one of which was with us! It brings a really cool level of appreciation to the table, and it shows where his heart's at"
Jared enthuses, "I'm ready to get to work! This tour is going to kick ass and the new tunes are heavy as shit! I'm SO looking forward to making good music with good dudes!"

Ciridian Talks Plans for the Year!
Ciridian is a 5-piece metalcore band based out of Clewiston, FL. They make their mark by addressing topics such as the loss of family and friends, bullying, and dreaming big. While drawing stories from distressing events in their lives, they maintain an optimistic outlook in their words. Ciridian hopes to help others realize that they’re not alone when things get tough, and life will always get better. The guys took the time to discuss with me their latest EP release and the plans for it and this year!
1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Ciridian, and how long the band has been together.
My name is Quinn and I do main vocals. My name is Jacob and I play bass and do all of the clean vocals for the band. My name is JP and I play guitar and I'm the main song writer. My name is Chandler and I play guitar. My name is Zach and I play drums. We've been Ciridian for about 6 months now and have been playing with this roster for about a little over a year.
2. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based out of Clewiston, although collectively we live in three different towns. The music scene here is Rap/Hip Hop based, so we always have to travel at least an hour for shows. From the surrounding areas, we recommend listening to Alaska Young, Dealey Plaza, As the Sky Awaits, and The Light Within.
3. You guys went from being formerly known as We Are The Messengers to Ciridian how come? Why makes this new name stand out and so much better?
Our previous name was decided without much discussion, held no meaning, and was unoriginal. The new name naturally stands out because of it being one word, unique, and having meaning to us; albeit it being a geeky one. Everyone had input into it. It's a combination of Cerulean Town and Viridian Town from Pokemon.
4. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
The main goal that we have in mind is to make something from the heart that the listener can relate to. The songs are generally about personal experiences. They have themes such as bullying, pursuing dreams, problems in being a band, loss of loved ones, and general anger at people. When a listener hears our songs, we want our lyrics to be medication; a reminder that they’re not alone and we've been through similar experiences, too.
5. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Yes. We complete instrumentals first and then our vocalists will incorporate lyrics that have been lying around and apply the theme to the song. They then further that theme into specifics, and try to use compelling lyrics.
6. Who are your musical influences?
Quinn: I love the styles of Attila, Maximum the Hormone, Adestria, and Erra. Beginning influences were always Slipknot, SOAD, Korn, Disturbed, etc. The rest of us: August Burns Red, The Word Alive, The Color Morale, Protest The Hero, Attila, The Devil Wears Prada.
7. Is there any story or concept behind the No More Heroes title?
It was originally the title of “The Second 21st”, but the new title is a dedication to two friends that we've lost. We decided to keep the name as the EP title because of it's concept. It’s a bit morbid sounding, but it’s basically the feeling of despair due to the loss of a loved one.
8. Select two songs from No More Heroes and what inspired the lyrics.
Quinn: Praying Mantia- This song revolves around the topic of getting bullied, the pain that comes with it, and how it WILL get better. As every kid, I was miserable in middle school. Every day was hell. Of course I had music as an outlet, but I never really came across songs that illustrated the feelings of being bullied. At least, not it getting better. Just hatred which fueled my hatred. I hated people and that wasn't good. One of the lyrics I have is “Rage-You Shouldn't feed it”, which I believe in greatly. Praying Mantia is a modification of Praying Mantis, and the reason I named it that is because a praying mantis is a metaphor for a bully. It preys on insects smaller than it, and stalks them to see if they're worth attacking like a bully tosses out insults to see who is easily offended. The mantis will then grip its prey and eat it alive. Superstition also insinuates that a praying mantis can cause blindness in others. With no one to help you from your bully, a bullied kid may feel trapped, and slowly tortured everyday.
My Last Story- “It started with a nameless, forging this fable”. During the time of choosing a new name for our band, I don’t think I’ve ever been so pissed at some of my fellow bandmates. In a sporadic rage, I began to write the main lyrics of this song. It discusses all the little faults of being in a band such as arguing, losing interest, talking behind each other’s backs, and not keeping private band discussions to ourselves. Originally, it was going to be more harsh in terms of lyrics, attacking us as a band, but I stopped writing when I was angry, and then decided to change that into hope for a better future. “Turn to a brand new page”. I wanted our new name to be a new beginning and I titled the song My Last Story because I never again wanted to write about band problems again.
9. Who produced No More Heroes and what was it like working with them?
Jesse Kirkbride of Kirkbride Recordings produced the EP. We definitely learned a lot with recording this and Jesse is a cool dude and fun to work with. The actual process was tedious due to prolonged time in the studio, which made everyone irritable, but we're happy with how it turned out.
10. Who did the cover art for No More Heroes and how much input did you have on it?
Quinn is an art student and does all of our art work. Quinn: I was originally playing around with a story Jacob told me about a family, their daughter, and a tree, and it evolved into something that all of us enjoyed aesthetically.
11. What image do you think your music conveys?
Reliability. Each song portrays a certain theme, and we like to think that people can associate themselves with the lyrics as well as the music. We convey hope and empowerment in the sense of believing in yourself.
12. What are your expectations for the release?
Setting a plateau of how we've matured as band, and to establish a sound.
13. Where are you in the process of the new full-length album?
We have quite a few songs written and we will continue to write. When the time comes, we will all get together and make our picks on the songs that we feel best represent Ciridian. We're always looking to challenge ourselves and that will be evident in our next release.
14. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous Ciridian releases?
This is a tough question to answer. A couple of the songs have existed for quite some time, but went through a lot of changes in the last year. We initially planned to start recording in early 2012, but delayed it until 2013 so we could take the time to develop our own unique sound and style. It wasn't enough for us to push out songs as fast as possible. We wanted to make sure that we would release the best music that we're currently capable of producing.
15. When can we expect the new album to be released?
We expect to have our full-length completed around summer 2014.
16. Can we be expecting to see a music video for any of the songs off either of these releases anytime soon?
We've been talking about it and we are getting something in the works. The hard part is deciding which song off of the EP we'd like to use. As of now, Praying Mantia or My Last Story seem most likely.
17. How do you describe your music to people?
As a genre, we describe it as metalcore. Otherwise, we describe it as our passion.
18. What are your upcoming plans for this year?
We're branching out to play shows farther away from our hometown and we hope to play Warped Tour in West Palm Beach, FL on the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands stage. Also, we're constantly working on writing new material and improving what we already have. Also, We'll have a cover song coming out soon.
19. Anything else you'd like say or add?
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be heard and featured on your website. Big things are in store for us. For everyone reading this, remember that any dream (big or small) is worth fighting for. Also, make sure to support your local music!
20. Is that your final answer?
NOTHING IS FINAL.

The Crüxshadows's Rogue Lives, Loves, and Believes.....
Industrial metal goths The Cruxshadows was founded in Northern Florida, in the 1990s. In the twenty years since then they have climbed to highest peaks, toured all the world, and continue to make music of course with their latest, As the Dark Against My Halo. Having had multitude songs reach the high numbers on many national and international charts. Frontman Rogue the man behind the vocals, songwriting, programming, lyrics, keyboards, and even some violin, took sometime to discuss with me the band's latest progress with music, touring, and remaining plans for this year and beyond!
1. What is your role in The Crüxshadows, and what can you tell us about the history of the band and its members?
Rogue: I guess you would say that I am the person at the center of things. I write the music and the lyrics, I do the programing… all that. I am also the producer as well as the frontman, and of course I should mention I'm the lead singer. I guess I wear a lot of hats in that regard. We started The Cruxshadows as a trio back in the early 90's. I was studying art and music at Florida State University and I wanted to combine the concepts and aesthetic in my visual art with my musical aspirations. I built my own electric violin, put out an advertisement and connected with some others in Tallahassee who were part of the underground scene there. People had never seen an electronic band with an electric violin, and even at that time stage presence was a major part of our production. Our fans seemed to connect with what we were doing and things evolved from there. I wanted to create a project that would have a real impact on peoples lives, that was central. I have a sincere desire to draw in intellectual elements through lyrical reference, emotional connections built on universal human experience, and rhythms and hooks that compel people to… well… dance. It wasn't a fame or glory thing for me, it was a kind of crusade to make something real… I felt like I was driven to do it. I guess I still do. Cruxshadows was a combination of electronic dance music with the more melodic elements of pop and rock. We mixed guitar and electric violin with synthesizers and came up with something that was pretty original… particularly back then. We have come a long way, and over the years I have had a lot of people come into CXS and contribute their time, talents, and energy; that has helped to make us somewhat of an institution within our scene. No matter what, we have somehow managed to remain standing, at least so far so good.
2. Tell me about the motto "Live Love Be Believe" ; What does it mean? Is there a message behind it and the music?
Rogue: Absolutely. It focuses everything into a simple concept. It distills all that we stand for in Cruxshadows into fundamental verbs. Its about how we look at the world and how we reflect on our own lives. Really, itTs a way of seeing things. hink about it- Live, Love, Be, Believe… What each of us sees is certainly different. Its all in the approach, whether desired or achieved, that sentiment is what unites us with our fan base. It incorporates hope, and strength, and courage into a balanced thought that seems to mirror the bands symbol. I can't tell you what it means per se, because in reality, the music means it.
3. Cruxshadows has been making music for over 20 years now, what comes to mind when you reflect on that, and how do you feel about the bands accomplishments?
Rogue: I started Cruxshadows as a way to deal artistically with with the effects of a five tiered dream I had. It was bizarre, one dream each night… five nights in a row. They continued with the five dreams occurring for the next five nights, and then again and again. Each dream repeated in order seven times, making thirty-five nights of dreaming in total. Clear repetitions… the details became something stuck in my head. To my mind, I believed there was something trying to get my attention… Trying to speak to me, or through me… Part of me thinks it was God, part of me thinks it was my subconscious, part of me just doesn't know. But the elements of that dream series gave birth to many of the characters and stories that unfold within our music. Each song in our catalog is a reference that ties into the greater Cruxshadow's Mythos. Twenty years later I am in awe at what those dreams effectively became the impetus for… I have seen things, been places, experienced life in ways that I would never have expected. And although to a lot of people we are still more or less unknown, for many others we have become part of their world in a very real way. I think we have changed the world for the better… at least from my perspective it seems that way.
4. You started as a trio, so how did The Cüxshadows end up as an eight member band?
Rogue: People come and go. A few times I have looked to replace a departing member, and found two talented people I wanted to bring into the project. We're not like a lot of other bands… we kind of follow our own path. Nine out of ten times, its not the easy one. I know what I want for the band, but at the same time I try to find the masterpiece hidden inside the stone so to speak… So I am open minded. I have continued to incorporate talent and personalities I like into the band, and I always have an eye out toward potential members for the future. I love our current line up. Right now Cruxshadows consists of David Wood and JoHanna Moresco both playing electric violin, Mike Perez playing guitar, Jen Jawidzik on keyboards, Jessica Lackey on e-drums, and Stacia Hamilton and Ally Knight as singer dancers… oh, and there's me in there too. That's eight.
5. Where did the band name come from, and what does it mean?
Rogue: It is a word that I created. It literally means "shadow of the cross". Its significance is a reference to the crucifixion of Christ. The people that stood in the shadow of the cross were women, children, a prostitute, a tax collector etc… effectively the outcasts of society… Yet they stood there when the disciples fled in fear. And so Cruxshadows is a reference to the inner circle being those who were essentially the cast outs. I have seen the discarded become the significant… and that's the sentiment that I am after. That no matter who you are, you have value within… Its up to you to show what you can become.
6. Is there a lyrical theme to your music? What message do you want to send?
Rogue: Cruxshadows lyrics are often allegorical, using elements of myth, legend, history, science, religion, my dreams, or even art & literature to tell a unique and personal story. Overcoming adversity, never losing hope, believing in those things that are most worth believing in… that's what we address. Fighting for whats right, compassion, forgiveness, introspection, love, honesty, loyalty, courage… you get the idea. The things that are too difficult to for a lot of people to address openly are encapsulated into a song where they occupy a unique time or place or setting… which allows them to convey their perspective on a variety of different levels. Each song is like a child, sent off into the world. It speaks long after my voice is silent. It is my wish that the things that I say after I cease to speak are the things that deserve saying.
7. What bands have influenced Cruxshadows and its sound?
Rogue: I don't know that any particular bands are a direct influence on CXS, but certainly a lot of new wave music and post punk era acts have contributed elements to what we are. When I think of influences, I more often think of people like Kahlil Gibran, Jean Cocteau, Einstein, E A Poe, or Dimitri Schostakowitsch. But the real influence for Cruxshadows lies in observation. The things that move me also compel me to create. I think that's the way it should be. I guess I try and create what I myself might want to hear.
8. How do you feel about file sharing and websites that allow people to "share" your material?
Rogue: Its a mixed bag. I have a family and I really rely on the sales of Cruxshadows music to support my wife and little girl. But as an artist, I need my music to be consumed. If nobody listens to the music it's meaningless. I do not believe in legally targeting the people who appreciate what you have created. My position is pretty much this- If you can't afford our music go ahead and download it, but when you can afford it, please remember to buy it, especially if it becomes something that is meaningful or important to you.
9. How do you feel about the gothic sub-classifications like darkwave, goth-rock, industrial, EBM, & Synthpop? Where does Cruxshadows fit in? How do you deal with the negative reputation that your genre sometimes has?
Rogue: I don't. We make Cruxshadows music and then the critics and the music historians determine what it all means. Classifications are there to help organize music, and we more or less go along with the more rational attempts to make sense of what we do. But depending on who you talk to we are Goth or Darkwave or Electronica or Goth-pop or Industrial or Cybergoth or EBM or New-Wave or … well, the list goes on and on. The thing is, we are who we are. I can't be too worried about how people want to classify us. As far as I am concerned, we are The Cruxshadows.
10. What is your opinion on the current state of the darkwave, goth, & indudistrial scene as far as the music itself is concerned.
Rogue: Some of its great, some is not so great. Right now the scene is in a state of flux overall. A lot is changing… evolving maybe. Again, I can't worry to much about the things that are out of my control, it will be what it will be. I hope its good… but everything is cyclical. So if its not good, it will be eventually.
11. Do you have any plans to do a double album or an all acoustic album?
Rogue: Not at the present time. But you never know… We did one with Mystery of the Whisper a few years back. We might if I ever get around to releasing the Cruxshadows Collection, but who knows..?
12. It's been a few years since the release of your live DVD Shadowbox, will you be shooting or recording a live album or another new live DVD anytime soon?
Rogue: We have some video footage that we are figuring out what to do with. We may do something as part of a retrospective… There are a lot of possibilities, but nothing I can go into right now. Gotta keep those cards close to the vest.
13. Are you working on any new music?
Rogue: I guess I am always to some extent… but I am still recovering from the latest album. As the Dark Against My Halo was a long time coming and I put a lot of my heart and soul into it. I think it is some of the best work that I have ever done and I am really proud of it. We are focused on moving it to a larger audience, giving it the time it needs to reach its potential. I tend to work in bursts, so I am not in the studio writing now… But I will record ideas every so often and that sometimes leads to new songs later on.
14. You guys have toured a lot over the years, but where haven't The Cüxshadows gone that you would like to?
Rogue: Japan, Australia, Russia, Brazil… Those are the big ones… but pretty much any region we have never been to is one we would be excited about going to… at least the first time.
15. What do you hope to achieve in 2013?
Rogue: I would like to keep moving things forward. We have a lot of pieces going into place behind the scenes that will help to keep Cruxshadows on the right track in the future. The internet and social media are key to the music world, and so thats a focus. But it continues to change. Its scary and exciting at the same time. I want to be able to continue to make a difference doing something that I love. In the end though, making music has to be the main focus.
16. What made you decide to form a band in the first place?
Rogue: Its just something that I have been doing my whole life. I would start a band, and then when it broke up I would start another one. I think my first band was in the third grade. It becomes part of who you are… second nature. I can't really remember ever not having a band.
17. What would you like a listener to remember most, when hearing your music for the first time?
Rogue: I'm not sure how to answer that. I guess what I want is for people to connect with it. Music is one of the most powerful things within the human experience. We express our happiness and our sadness, we attach it to our memories. Our favorite songs often become part of the soundtrack to our lives. It unifies people, and tears others apart. There is something that is almost primal that speaks to us through music, and it sculpts the way we view the world. I write songs that I believe in, and the message within them is one that focuses on the empowerment of the listener. But if I have to answer the question, and you asked what would I like people to remember… There's too much, so then we come full circle with my answer. Live Love Be Believe.
18. Any final thoughts?
Rogue: I would like to invite people to check out our website. We have a brand new online merch store… And I would love to ask your readers to take a couple minutes to check out our new album As the Dark Against My Halo; Its available in iTunes and Amazon, as well as most of the places people typically get music. Its not for everyone of course, but given the chance it seems to resonate with a lot of people. I would like to ask our fans to help spread CXS… Word of mouth is the best asset a band can have. Thank you for the interview… I appreciate it.

Falling In Reverse - Fashionably Late
People alike were hyped up when Ronnie Radke former frontier
of Escape The Fate was released from jail and had been busy writing material
for what would turn into "The Drug In Me Is You" it was a solid
release with hard hitting guitar riffs, drum beats, bass lines, even the vocal
structure was pure aggression. Now that some time has gone and Ronnie Radke has
an ever growing following the material has to be better than the last release
right? Well no not exactly......this is "Fashionably Late".
This time around Falling In Reverse's material sticks it's
ground with how they do things with an addition twist Ronnie Radke's take and
love for rap music? Indeed so Ronnie Radke takes the reins of rap artist meets
pop punk the combination of the two busts out tunes like "Champion", and
"Alone", which had everyone
asking "WTF happened" left and right, while other songs noted
includes "Born To Lead",
"It's Over When It's Over", "Game Over", has its moments, while "Self-Destruct
Personality", pulls things back a bit with its brutalizing screams placed
only here and there with its pop punk fashions leading the way left and right. "Keep
Holding On", turns out to be a ballad, one that everyone can relate too.
The fan base on the other hand had are on edge with this
release having it be "the best album of 2013" to "love, love,
love it" with others saying "that this shit sucks" to "it's
painfully bad actually embarrassed for them" while some go as far as
comparing this material to that of Skrillex meets Deuce with a combo of Blood
On The Dance Floor and brockencyde. In short this release is a step in a
direction in which these guys have shown and wish to walk upon, and whether you
like him or not Ronnie Radke will state his mind loud and clear, rather you
like it or not.
