Crunkcore act Brokencyde are currently in the studio hard at work on their upcoming album. Clean vocalist Michael Shea or "Mikl" took the time to discuss how the album is coming along and when it will be released.
1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Brokencyde.
Mikl: My name is Mikl-Shea and I sing in our group BC13.
2. So this time around you decided to a take a "fresh" approach by keeping the B13 style with an added dance floor twist, can you tell me more about this musical approach?
Mikl: We wanted to bring back what people liked with our music but wanted to add a bit of dance to it so it gets you moving, which music should do.
3. What's the story behind "Geronimo"? Why did you want this song to be the new and first single off your upcoming album?
Mikl: Geronimo is a song about just having fun which we are all about and its just one of those times that you must shout out with pure excitement.
4. Where are you in the recording process of the new album?
Mikl: We have all of the material that we need for a killer album and are currently recording.
5. Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?
Mikl: We are going to produce this album ourselves like we used to and bring back some of the natural magic that made BC13 what it is.
6. Where are you recording the album and which studios did you plan to choose and why?
Mikl: We are recording in our home studio, like when we first started. its easier and you have more control of your music when you have a handle on it and we know what we want exactly.
7. How is the vibe in the studio?
Mikl: The vibe in the studio with the BC boys is usually full of laughs, smoke in the air and pizza usually on a table somewhere. almost like a ninja turtle party.
8. What label will be releasing the album?
Mikl: We will be releasing all of our future projects independently.
9. What album title did you decide? Is it a concept album?
Mikl: We haven't decided yet on album title. We have a few in mind.
10. How would you say the new album compares to your previous records?
Mikl: This new album is almost like starting over. We have grown to realize the sound our fans like and we will be giving it to them along with us trying a few new things.
11. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?
Mikl: Our main goal anytime we record a song is to think of our fans and think if they'd enjoy it, especially live.
12. What's the writing and recording process for you?
Mikl: Beat, lyrics, booth!
13. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album?
Mikl: New age BC13.
14. When did you start writing for this album?
Mikl: Its been over 6 months that we've had material but there's always obstacles that you must overcome. the time is right and we are excited to drop all of this new music.
15. Are there any surprises or any collaborations on the album?
Mikl: People will have to wait to see!
16. Guilty Pleasure was a sizable critical success. Did you feel any pressure to follow it up?
Mikl: There is always that pressure to live up to or surpass what you've previously done but we realized that we need not worry about that but the music and our fans.
17. When can we expect the new album to be released?
Mikl: The new album will be released later this year.

Mikl: Never give up and don't be afraid to be who you really are!
