Shores Of Acheron is a brand new 5 piece metal band from Baton Rouge, LA. Formed in 2012. Shores Of Acheron strives to put on the most entergetic live performances possible, in addition to promoting a positive message. The band brings you haunting tracks filled with eerie melodies and slamming death metal riffs with fast paced, aggressive, full-on sections packed with brutal vocals, technical drum work, booming bass, and guitar tracks capable of providing the soundtrack to the apocalypse. Guitarist Todd Fletcher discusses the band's latest material and what plans they have got planned.
1. What type of band are you?
Todd: Deathcore/Beatdown/Metal
2. Tell us the brief history of your band.
Todd: Shores was started in July of 2012, and from the very beginning we wanted to make an impact on the metal community forever. Every show we played was combined with immense amounts of emotion. We put out an EP titled, "End Of Reign" in March of 2013, which basically revolves around topics related to the corruption of our society and our government. This CD also features Adam Warren of Oceano on one of the tracks.
3. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Todd: Specifically referring to our EP, our songs were about the corruption of our government and how we are becoming a nation of sheep. The aggressive nature of the music, and harsh vocals portray a sense of anger towards our current state as a country.
4. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Todd: We do write our own songs. We start from absolutely nothing, and eventually come up with a final product.
5. Who are your musical influences?
Todd: Some of our biggest influences would be, Carnifex, In the Midst Of Lions, Infant Annihilator, Molotov Solution, and I Declare War. Just to name a few.
6. Where did the band get it's name and does it have a meaning behind it?
Todd: To our understanding the name actually has several different meanings. The name was thought of from Dante's Inferno where the Shores of Acheron refers to a layer of Hell.
7. Tell me about the EP, "End Of Reign".
Todd: The EP as stated previously is about 95% government related issues. The album art displays a burning city as it storms. We wanted some symbolism in the art, instead just some regular artwork for our EP. There is a light in the upper corner that was supposed to be a sign of hope. Of course that could mean whatever you want it to mean. As far as the instrumentals go, the CD is packed with bone crushing riffs, technical drum work, and very harsh vocals to compliment the theme of the EP.
8. You mentioned your working on material for your debut album, can you give me some dirt as to how that process is coming along?
Todd: The album is coming along very nicely, it's still retains it's menacing sound as the EP did, but in a way
it is so much more different. This album already has some very bizarre instrumentation, and some of the most
unique structuring we've have ever heard. We haven't laid out a theme for our album just yet, and are not sure that there will even be one. So far, it's to soon to really give any definite details, but one thing we can assure is that it will be very different from the norm, and it's our hope that everyone will enjoy it as much as we are right now.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Todd: You can listen to 3 tracks off of our 7 track EP on our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/shoresofacheron). Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, we do not have any merch, other than CDs. Once we restock within the next month you will be able to have access to other types of merchandise in our merch store through bigcartel. You can go on our Facebook page on a desktop computer and visit our merch tab and buy our EP digitally, or you can buy a hard copy.
10. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?
Todd: Our ultimate goal, is to tour the world making just enough to live playing music for the masses. In the meantime, we plan to tour the US and meet as many people as possible and just enjoy the time we have together as a band. I know that personally none of us would trade a second of our time in this band for anything else.
11. Anything else you'd like to say or add?
Todd: We'd like to give a huge thanks to www.nataliezworld.com for giving us the opportunity to be interviewed, and also a thank to everyone who supports and continues to support us, because
without all of you we would never be where we are today.
