Delacroix's Rei Talks Of New Mini Album


Visual kei hard rock act Delacroix formed in July 2009 through the years they have played shows, toured, and released several CDs. Bassist Rei discusses their latest release "Araise" their 2nd mini album which includes 6 songs and a DVD.


1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Delacroix, and how long the band has been together.

Rei: DELACROIX are Vocal on mitsuki,Guitar for saya, Bass with rei, tomo for drums. Genre we play is Japanese Visual Rock. And we have 3 live every months. This band has been together for 4 years and half.

2. Can I get a backstory on the band/ band biography?

Rei: In July 2009 this band was born, releasing CD's, have some chats on radio, had some mention on some magazines.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Rei: We are based in Japan, Nagoya city and the music sence we presenting are {swelling intensely}.

4. Why did you want to go and call yourselves Delacroix? What is the representation behind that name and what does it symbolize and mean for the band?

Rei: DELACROIX was named by rei, because he loved Eugène Delacroix,the french artist so much.

5. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?

Rei: We describe as a darkness world, we're influenced by Dir en grey.

6. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Rei: Our theme is from {Feelings} such as anger, sadness are the most. We want to drag into our world who listens our music.

7. Do you write your own songs? Can you discuss the songwriting process in detail?

Rei: Of course, {Feeling} is which everybody has and which we pay attention most on.

8. You've released a single and video for the song "mugenkairou" can you tell me about those and can we expect to see another music video from you guys off this release?

Rei: This song is the best of all. Yes, we are planning to release more singles, and videos next year.

9. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album?

Rei: This album would be a good chance to know about us, may could take you to another world you have never seen.

10. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Rei: Yes, taking video of this album was one of our goals.This was a big challenge for us and wouldn't have accomplished without members, staff and all of our fans.

11. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Rei: We put on some synthesizer in it, and made some sound effects by ourselves.

12. Why did you want to release a "mini" album as opposed to a "full" album?

Rei: Because this is just only a progress of the evolution.

13. Did you feel any pressure whatsoever about writing and recording for this release?

Rei: We want to appeal people who listen our music, to there hearts, to there brain. We don't feel it,Make them feel it.

14. How was the vibe in the studio for everybody?

Rei: It's great, make us high.

15. Who produced "ARAISE" and what was it like working with them?

Rei: Each members has brought their theme, mixing all of them into one music. It was new than before, which making each music by themselfs.

16. "ARAISE" is the title of the album but is there a concept to this album or does the title fit a concept or storyline to it?

Rei: We had an concept on it first, then title became after it.

17. Who did the cover art for "ARAISE" and how much input did you have on it?

Rei: We have a designer for this album.

18. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?

Rei: We recommend track 6, title with "mugenkairou". The video we released is an image of this song.

19. What other plans do you have for the future as a band?

Rei: We have one man live on 2014.1.19, we are planning world tour for the future.

20. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Rei: You can listen some of the music on HP, stuff are only sold in live house unfortunately.

21. Anything else you'd like to add or care to say?

Rei: People who meets us, "Welcome to DELACROIX's world".
