The Bellerophon Project's Duo Gives Insight Into Instrumental Music

Instrumental act The Bellerophon Project consists of just 2 members who just mess around with their instruments using no themes or lyrics to their content. Both Andreas Schaberer guitarist and Manuel Lotter drummer discusses this all new project.

1. What type of band are you?

M: We are an instrumental band consisting of 2 musicians that focuses on high quality music.

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

M: One day Andi asked me if we could do one song together. I liked the idea and so we teamed up.
So the response is overwhelming and we decided to continue as a band. The idea of making only one
song ended up with this band. Pretty cool!

A: Yep. As I saw a playthrough video for a song written by his former band "Farewell To Arms" as I immediately felt in love with his way of playing drums. forthwith, I sent him an e-mail with a song I recorded and filmed just a view days from this point and thats where it started.

3. Why did you want to call this band The Bellerophon Project? What does it mean and represent for you guys?

M: Bellerophon is an old hero based on the greek mythology. If you want more information just read the story about it. :)

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

M: We’re from the Munich area. The scene is totally overfilled with too many bands. I think it is here like everywhere. But there are good bands, of course: Cardiac, Ocean Of Plague and many more.

A: Into Oblivion, Pathways and Nebula are also very talented bands that you should have definitely checked out!

5. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

M: A lot of different drummers. :D And I listen to a lot of different genres - not only metal.

A: Same here. Listening to different types of music expands your creativity a lot. At the moment, I listen to music like Like Zelliack, Claire, Little Tybee and Tech N9ne. But Bands like Born Of Osiris, The Safety Fire and of course Periphery and Animals as Leaders are my main influences.

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

M: No lyrics. No themes. Just nerding around with our instruments and having a great time!

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

M: Of course we do. Andi comes along with a new riff idea. So we wet up a arrangement for the song and work it out. Step by step I write drum parts for it. So it all comes together.

A: It´s like painting a picture for me. Every part has it´s own color and the exercise is to finish it with others that fit.

8. What's the story behind "Hydra"?

M: It’s a new song we will release soon.

A: Thats it :)

9. Where does this song come from an upcoming EP or full-length release?

M: We won't tell yet. ;)

10. Where are you in the process of this release?

M: Writing, writing, writing.

A: We went to the studio a few days ago and can´t wait right now till our record got mixed/ mastered. stoked! :D

11. When can we expect to this release to become available?

M: No info yet. We’ll keep you guys posted! ;)

12. What are your dreams and goals?

M: Playing drums and inspire as many people as possible in fulfilling their dreams!

A: I can imagine that most people, whose are much into their instrument/spare time activity, whatever wish themselves to live someday from what they´re doing. In this case i am an exception neither :D. But to inspire people is one thing i share with manu and one of the best feelings you can have.

13. What other plans do you have for the future as a band?

M: We want to play as many live shows as possible and give workshops and clinics as a band. Our song material is a very technical and educational one, so we want to teach other musicians in that kind of music.

14. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

M: Currently we are still writing our first EP, album or whatever. So there’s no info yet we can tell you. So keep your eyes peeled on our social media sites for any news.

15. Anything else you'd like to add or care to say?

M: Thank you all for this overwhelming first response to our FIRST single. It has been incredible and we are super hyped to continue as a band and write some more awesome nerdy music.
