Deathinition's Igor Wants to Play, Play, and Play Some More!

Thrash metallers Deathinition have been doing their thing for a while, playing shows, writing and recording material and have released an EP and are hard at work on a full-length album with more shows coming soon. Guitarist and vocalist Igor discusses the EP, shows, and progress with the new full-length album.

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Deathinition, and how long the band has been together.

Igor: Hi, my name is Igor. I'm the guitarist in Deathinition. I found DN in 2008, but the last lineup was set in the second half of 2013.

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

Igor: We have been playing live since 2009, we have been honored to play before such acts as Death Angel, Hirax, Helstar, Vicious Rumors, Assassin and many more. I can't say anymore because I can't even remember any others because I'm always drunk or high.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Igor: I founded DN in Bydgoszcz. But now there's only me and Adi (vocals) in the line-up he's also from Bydgoszcz. We have a lot of fans from Bydgoszcz, GdaƄsk, and Szczecin. A lot of great bands here in Poland I can recommend, ThermiT, Rusted Brain, and Tester Gier.

4. What type of band are you?

Igor:  We like to play as vicious as we can. We like to combine technical vibes with aggression and melodies. We're pretty hardcore with partying as well.

5. Why did you want to name the band Deathinition? What does it symbolize and represent for the band?

Igor: I choose the name for this band, because I found it to be a cool sounding word inspired by song by Exodus called "Deathamphetamine" and from the band Death themselves.

6. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Igor: All of us are pretty much into '80/'90 power/thrash/death. I prefer Bay Area thrash scene myself. I like alot of classical music, some rap, and a lot of different stuff.

7. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Igor: It depends some of them are more for fun like party anthems, some touches more social issues, political themes, and personal issues. We don't want to write only one side of the coin, we have normal lyrics but different personalities in the band. We often represent this with different approaches like other bands would do.

8. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Igor: Of course! We're not a cover band! In the past it was a jamming style song writing process for us. But since we are from different cities it's more like writing down ideas, and adding ideas and parts from each member involved within that writing process. Many songs like older one's are done mostly by myself, but later on other's contributed more work as we all then worked together with the process.

9. What's new in the recording of your music?

Igor: We just released our new EP, which you can find on YouTube in it's entirety. We are suppose to record a full album this year as we have three brand new songs written.

10. What are your dreams and goals?

Igor: Play as much as possible. Gain as much money as we can, fuck as many girls as we can, and tour all over the world.

11. What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?

Igor: They should know we are the craziest motherfuckers. It's clearly obvious when you are at our show. Also we deliver high octane, fast and furious, technical and melodic, high quality metal.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Igor: Online simple as that, it you want a physical copy of our music please write us on Facebook or email us at deathinitionthrash@gmail.com

13. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

Igor: Gigs, gigs, gigs. Record LP. Dominate the world. And it's just begun!

14. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Igor: Hard to say, we'd like the listener to rape the replay button when listening to our songs. There's a lot of dimensions, you seek power? You can easily find it by listening to us. You want to look up some melody? You can clearly hear it from us. Are you a technical purist then go on and listen to our material!

15. Any final words of wisdom?

Igor: Thrash metal unites. I am pretty sure if you like thrash you can easily find something you will love in our music. Especially if you have the possibility to see us live!
