Rock n' rollers The Black Tibetans released their EP "The Nashville Sessions", and already are working on their next full-length album. Frontman vocalist Dinst and drummer Ryan KH talks to us briefly about the band, their music, and releases.
1. What type of band are you?
We are the laziest band in Rock n Roll. 65% rock, 35% roll.
2. Tell us the brief history of your band.
We formed 3 years ago with the sole focus on playing music for love and have a good time doing it. Making money would be nice, but let's face it, our music is too shit to ever see that happening.
3. Where are you from?
Dinst: London, England.
Tammi Tibetan: Phoenix, Arizona.
Ryan KH: Nova Scotia
4. How do you think being from LA influences your sound?
It doesn't. We get our influences from bands from other places. I honestly can't think of any decent bands from LA except The Doors and X.
5. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The band was named after Jason Jessee's 1949 Harley Davidson, 'The Black Tibetan.'
6. Who are your musical influences?
We all have different musical influences, but it's generally old Rock n Roll bands like The Sonics, Dr Feelgood, early AC/DC, Edith Bunker & Marty McFly circa 1955.
7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Yes. Its a pain in the balls and an extremely tedious process.
8. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
It's usually always about girls or Rock n Roll parties that take place on a Saturday evening.
9. Tell me about the song and video for “You’re Cold”.
The song is about trying to screw a chick on a Saturday night. The video was made by our good friend, Larry Niehues. He followed us around the entire time we were in Nashville.
10. What can you tell me about your EP, The Nashville Session?
It was nothing like the Kansas City session, I can tell you that much.
11. Do you guys have any new music in the works in terms of a follow-up?
We are currently working on our 2nd full-length album right now.
12. What are your plans for the rest of this year?
I just wanna dance.
13. Anything else you'd like to say or want to add?
Who writes these questions? I'd like to say that I want to add as much as possible.
