Four Nights Gone Talks Touring and Life While Touring

Four Nights Gone will be hitting the road departing on their own headlining run of showcases with further touring and new music along the way! Frontman vocalist Damian LaRocco talks about their time on the road, touring, and new music plans.

1. Let us get started by filling in our readers as to what the band has been up to in this year.

Damian: Well firstly thanks a ton for interviewing us, it's really cool that you help get information about us out there to the rest of the public. Since we last spoke we've been really busy, per usual. We did a winter tour in January down from New York to Florida and had an incredible time, met a ton of new people and made some interesting friends along the way. In fact, the last show of that tour we opened up for Stephen Pearcy of Ratt and his new group. This year we also played with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus & The Veer Union, both bands kicked ass and we had a great time rocking out and hanging back-stage with them. Besides the shows we've been working on several YouTube acoustic cover videos that are available on our channel. We've been covering tons of music and putting our own spin on each to make it more interesting which led to us writing and putting out an acoustic CD with our songs but played differently to fit an acoustic mellow environment. Lastly, I don't wanna give away too much info about new Four Nights Gone material, except that we are in the process of writing our new CD and we are trying to push the envelope and write new and exciting things. Definitely keep checking back to our Facebook for new updates on when the single is going to be released.

2. You are about to start a east coast headlining tour. If you could think of one thing you would like to accomplish the most through that tour what would that be?!

Damian: Yes, very excited to be hitting the road again! In regards to what we want to accomplish is just put our best into every show and meet new and old fans alike. Everyone who we impressed enough to like our music just means that we did something right and that is an incredible feeling.

3. What have you done to prepare yourselves for the tour?

Damian: Crap, I actually need to buy new shoes, mine are run down and beat to shit haha. But on a serious note, with touring we have to make sure our set is tight and on lock. We will rehearse the set over and over til we cant stand hearing our own songs and everything is as good as it can be. Plus we need  to fix up the van...can't be on tour without AC.

4. What could one expect from Four Nights Gone show?

Damian: Well, like I said, we try and put 110% effort into each show and give it our all. We feel like if people are taking their time out of there day to see us and listen to our music then we best give them their money's worth.

5. Can you describe your show, visually and musically for us?

Damian: Visually, we tried to wear matching bikinis but some of us don't have the body for that so we stuck with regular clothes. Musically we perform 5-6 original songs from our collection of music but this time we are adding in new songs and maybe a cover just for the people to sing along in case they haven't heard of us.

6. What do you do to get ready for a show?

Damian: That depends on who you ask, me (Damian, Singer) I usually stretch, do my vocal warm ups and maybe listen to some songs that have been stuck in my head for a while to get me pumped for the show. Once I hit the stage everything comes to me, stress, anger, joy and everything else, and it comes out in the performance.

7. When it comes to performing each and every night does the time stand still or does it fly by when performing?

Damian: Honestly, It's really freaky how that happens. I know if I'm feeling sick or my voice is hoarse, the show will feel like it may take hours when in reality its taking 30-45 minutes. On the contrary though, if we are all having a blast the time flies by and before we know it, I'm telling everyone that "we're gonna go out with a fucking bang ".

8. What is one special effect or stage prop that you would want to use or see during your shows?

Damian: Hmm, well we aren't really much on props or special effects. I know we are trying to incorporate some special lights and light boxes for a bit more on the visual side but nothing too over the top just yet. I know personally I would want to use a cool vocal processing effect pedal just to add some weird filters over my voice just for emphasis but...alas...I am far too broke for a good pedal system haha.

9. Any strange or unusual happenings while out on the road or at a live show?

Damian: Oh you don't even know the half of it haha...at a live show nothing too crazy, with the exception of a technical difficulty here and there but on the road I have a list of stupid and crazy encounters we experienced that I will not share to protect identities and such haha.

10. Is there any song that when you play it live on stage makes your adrenaline levels kick in and make you want to go hyper?

Damian: Yes! I think I speak for the entire band when I say our song "J.Buck" off of Resilience is definitely a fun song to play that gets everyone including us headbanging and going crazy. It's a fast paced , high energy song that really packs a punch. We recently began playing a new song called "Running Away (Roots)" and we all really like the new direction and the energy of that one as well.

11. Who goes the longest without taking a shower?

Damian: What the hell is a shower?

12. How many times do you have to wear the same piece of clothing because you couldn't find a laundry matt?

Damian: Depends on who packs the right way haha!

13. What has been the best hotel/motel that you have slept in and what made it the best out of all the others?

Damian: When we were in Florida in this past winter tour, we stayed at a timeshare/resort and holy crap that was the best night sleep we all had gotten in a long time. We all had our own bed to sleep in with air conditioning and a hot tub right outside the time share apartment. We stayed there for three nights and equally wanted to cry as we left and began heading north away from the tropic weather of Orlando.

14. How do you promote your band and shows?

Damian: A lot of patience and dedication! When we have some down time away from our normal lives and our band lives most of us sit at home and try and push our music online through social media and blogs. Every new person who hears of us is an opportunity for us to connect and impact them in some way, shape or form. When we are at the shows we try and be as social and down to earth as possible. Meeting strangers and new people can be a bit awkward at first, but we love meeting new people and musicians and hearing what they have to say. I am a firm believer in the fact that everyone having a story to tell. If you come off as a pompous, stuck up ass, then why would people want to be around you. We try to be ourselves and meet people as they are...people.

15. Once the tour in the is over what do you have planned afterwards?

Damian: Probably relax at home and sleep for a good 24 hours haha, then after we rest up we want to finish writing our new music and record our new EP. Like I said earlier, we are all very excited with how these songs are coming out. We're trying new things and pushing the envelope to its full extent. Cant wait for everyone to hear these songs VERY soon.
