Hasbro's My Little Pony series has always been a hit or miss situation but once it's fourth generation kicked things off with its Friendship Is Magic series, things couldn't have been better. Since the fourth generation of the series was such a success what else was there to do than to expand the series with a new series one called Equestria Girls! This new series taking part in the film industry debuted in 2013 with its first installment My Little Pony Equestria Girls.
Now a year later another installment in this movie series has developed causing quite the uproar than its previous processor. This follow-up film called My Little Pony Equestria Girls Rainbow Rocks truly does rock! It contains just as enjoyable music as the first film had, if not better in fact! Each of the songs were well crafted and written out, making each tune be one hit after the next. While the tunes were successful in their own doing, the animation had gotten better along with the storyline and crowd pleasing. A lot of the background characters from the Friendship Is Magic series popped in every now and again, while the mane cast took center stage, causing attention from all angles.
Story-wise the story this time was a battle of the bands concept, taking the school and students of Canterlot High to compete against one another in their own bands, the mane 6 of this time the mane 5, Twilight Sparkle being back in Equestria, had to figure out how to get a word back to Twilight in order for her to return to help the others out, against the bad vibes coming from this new trio of villains. Another character Sunset Shimmer, makes a return having a lot to say while making her redemption known. The story builds up having a lot of funny, outgoing, and eye dropping moments that says true to the original film and the series that came before it.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls Rainbow Rocks is indeed an indefinite sequel that really keeps all the right notes, making this film a great addition of a sequel with surly more films to follow through with it, if you're a fan of the series then this film is the next best thing to it!
