2. How did you guys come up with your band name? What makes you Horncrowned?
Demongoat: Horncrowned is the name of our war front, we are soldiers led by our Horned commander from Hell to face and win the war against Christianity.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Demongoat: Horncrowned is established in Bogota, the capital city of Colombia. Here the metal music scene is divided by gender. Although the metal in this country had a good start in the 90's, we are few who at the time we started and we are still living in extreme metal. Basically our little circle is made up of followers of Black metal and Death metal. Some active local bands: Daemoni, Divine Profanity, Ignis Haereticum, Nosferatu.
4. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?
Demongoat: The main influences were European extreme metal bands Black began in the 90's ..... including: Marduk, Unlord, Dark Funeral, Dissection, Enthroned, Sorhin, The Abyss, War, Infernal (Swe), Setherial , Naglfar.
5. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?
Demongoat: Basically the theme we use is anti-Christian war, our songs tell stories of war in the final battle that will end the lie called "religion" that has enslaved humanity since its inception and has prevented him to transcend to higher levels of knowledge.
6. Why did you see "DEFANATUS (Diabolus Adventus)" to be a good fit as a title for this album?
Demongoat: Defanatus (Diabolus Adventus) translates Unholy or Desecrated (The coming of the Devil), it fits the theme worked for 13 years career in the Black Metal scene. With this 4th album we want to give a strong point about our battle for the destruction of religions that prevent the normal development of a human brain being from its early years.
7. Who produced the album? What did they bring to the table to make this album the way it is?
Demongoat: The album was produced by Horncrowned and Ketzer Records (Ger), recorded at War Studio (Bogotá, Col) was mixed by Phorgath at Blackout Studio (Belgium), Mastered by László Zsolt (Romania) and the cover artwork was done by the Kontamination Design (Poland). I consider it the best album of Horncrowned in sound and image.
8. What was the recording process like this time around? Was there anything different that happened or was it the same old studio thing?
Demongoat: For this album, we worked a lot on the sound of guitars, looking for a special touch, use various options like analog pedals (Boss), Tube Guitar Amplifier Heads (Mesa boogie & Krank) and guitars equipped with EMG microphones. We use some re-amping in the mixing process ... The battery was engraved with a piccolo snare (Pearl), double bass drum pedal (Trick) and an extensive set of cymbals (Zildjian). For bass recording we use Line 6 processors and Ampeg amps. The voices with reverb have always captivated me.
9. Can you tell us how this album differs from the previous ones? What can we expect and what is the message behind it?
Demongoat: This album is stronger and clear than the previous albums. I think we have an excellent result in the mixing and mastering done by two true metalheads from other countries. You can expect 46 minutes of a pitiless & brutal Black Metal discharge. There are 12 tracks (10 songs + intro and outro).
10. How would you say that album's artwork relate's to the music on the album?
Demongoat: You can see our Horned War Commander armed to the teeth sitting on the world, the background is a bloody slaughter after fired all our arsenal on hundreds of churches and temples. Horncrowned sounds fast as a machine gun!!!!
11. What's your favorite song on the album right now?
Demongoat: All the album is great, each song have their special Brutal Black Metal sound. My favorites may be: 2-Extinction's Apotheosis & 7-Worship of the Seven-Headed Beast.
12. What does "DEFANATUS (Diabolus Adventus)" mean to you all?
Demongoat: It is an album that marks a musical and sound evolution. I hope that we place into the top ranks within the global Black Metal scene.
13. How about shows and touring, how has the live activity been thus far?
Demongoat: We have planned some local shows on 2015 to show Defanatus album to the Brutal Black Metal followers. Also we are looking for a serious promoter to begin a international live campaign.
14. What other plans do you have for the rest of this year leading into the next year?
Demongoat: Besides promoting Defanatus, we plans to record a cover album as tribute…also film some shows for a possible future DVD. Horncrowned is continually writing new material, so it is very likely that we continue to expand our discography with some EP or start working on the successor to Defanatus.
15. Any last words for the friends and fans out there?
Demongoat: Hope that you have in your hands a copy of “Defanatus” album ASAP. Also we want to see all the Brutal Black Metal supporters in the upcoming shows. Thanks for the interview.
