Louder Than Quiet Gets LOUD!

Melodic death metal/post hardcore act, Louder Than Quiet have been through a lot since their formation back in 2010. But through all of that they have made it to where they are today with playing shows, touring, and new music! A few of the members took sometime to talk about their tunes and plans!

1. What type of band are you?

It's like a little mix of death metal and post hardcore.

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

Well some of us went to high school together and some of the other members were in a band, then we got kicked out of that band to form this other band then formed this band. We formed the band in 2010 of a disbanding of another band with a worse name, we had to play a show that week, from then on, it encountered a lot of hate, got better, playing as many shows as we could. Then kept going through all of this hard ships, this happening and that happening, it was just crazy. But here we are now.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are from Maryland, and the music scene here is decent, there are a lot of acts to pick out from including ourselves haha.

4. How did a name like, Louder Than Quiet, come into the picture?

When we first had it as a name, we were debating it, none of the band members were paying attention or caring really. It was like a big meeting, where everyone needed to discuss it all, our families controlling us, making us slaves or something. Then a book of names came out and then someone says Louder Than Quiet, even though no one cared, it just worked and we went with it. The name's meaning is nothing really.

5. Who are your musical influences that you look up to the most?

You really want us to answer that question? There's a long list, unlimited names! We're all influenced by different things, System of a Down, Thy Art Is Murder, The Black Dahlia Murder, Rush, Killswitch Engage, The Chariot, Suicide Silence and Mitch he's his own band, just so many mean so much to us.

6. What are your songs about? (What themes do they cover?)

I mean with past songs it was aimed towards fantasy and feelings. But recently we've been moving to personal experiences, emotional songs, having these songs be heart felt that we and the people can relate too and goes through every day and connect with hopefully.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Can you discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Our song writing process and music process is the most jumbled process ever. Sometimes everyone or one person writes the lyrics or someone just writes this part of the song. It just has to be good enough that everyone likes it. Sometimes we write a part when at home, but we bring those ideas to band practice and see how we connect with all of it.

8. You currently are running an Indiegogo campaign, can you briefly discuss it and what do you hope to achieve from it?

Right now, the deal is this, a Facebook comment was said where this person told us we weren't good enough to be in a band and create music. Like understanding the reality and the ways of life, everyone having troubles, going through the process like school, you go to college, then work from that degree, making a life for yourself. Doing this as a band is not easy. So we're doing it all ourselves and just asking for help, you can give us 30 cents to 1 dollar to more, we're all trying to get this band going, because we all work day to day ourselves, so people can understand and help us out.  It's serious to us and a passion to us, we're doing this now because we're at a point where we need to put in all of that effort, so we need the help and that's about it.

9. Why did you want to take the DIY approach and be an all independent band with all that you do?

Seeing how the music industry, you're not going to make any money unless you're really popular. You can't make money in this industry, so we wanted to do it all ourselves. We have had offers from other projects we have done, we know how that works and think the DIY method is the better choice because we can do what we want to do. The labels want the money then get addicted to it, it's all the same thing and why we went with DIY. It's like all the other bands, they have all done it at one point or another.

10. Where are you in the process of the new album?

Right now, we've been writing for a while, like a year straight, now the sound we're going for we don't know if there's another band with it, combination death metal and post hardcore, we're the only ones that I know of. We're trying to make the sound work, each of our songs we make, it has our sound and style. The bands before us have done this, finding this sound, going to shows, you see people dressed up with tattoos, enjoying our music and the other music out there. Just writing what we have right now, we want to make sure it's perfect. We don't want to release anything that isn't top notch quality, once we record it the proper way and know it's what we want and like it, we'll be getting new music out there soon.

11. When can we expect the new album to be released?

New material is coming in the summer or the fall. As far as the full-length we can't give you a date for it. But you will be hearing new stuff, newer songs, maybe a new video.

12. What do you guys have planned for the future?

Pretty much playing shows, going on tour, spread out, who knows. Just trying to get as far away as possible. Just get far away as possible, we get so much more lover in other places than at home. We want to play music for the people that enjoy it, and want to meet people and keep traveling that's the dream.

13. Anything else you'd like to add or would want to say?

Shout out to everyone! Shout out to all the people who loves us and also hate us! Just everyone who supports us at all, caring about us and love us!
