Stillnes Talks Latest Release and the Future
Thrash metal from Spain was created in 2004 by the guys in STILLNES. They are looking to make a classic powerful thrash metal style mixed with their own personalities traits and Spanish inspired lyrics. They took sometime to write and record for their latest album "Sin Destino" and have decided to take further time to talk about it and themselves.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members
Stillnes began in 2004 when two students decided to make a music rock and metal band. One of them was our lead guitarist V’ctor. Time after that Bastian entered the band as the drummer. After a lot of band changes finally the band found itself a stable lineup and proceeded to record what would be our first album, "Prisi—n Del Miedo". Some years later Jesus entered the lineup as the second guitarist followed by Quique who took over bass and vocals. Months later we began the recording sessions. "Sin Destino" was then a reality.
2. Why did you pick the name that you did for your band?
It all started in an English lesson were Victor and the other student were thinking about how could they name the band. Being an English class we picked up the dictionary and started looking up for words that could make a good name. Stillness had the opposite meaning for what we were but that calm also was part of our music as we felt that way when we finished a show: that physical and mental Relief. Then we dropped the one of the ending "s" and took it as our flag.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The band is based out in Azuqueca de Henares, an Spanish village out of any human reach. The music scene here in Azuqueca isn't as good as we would like it to be, there are a lots of bands but it's hard these days to stand for metal. Otherwise, we have a large list of National Thrash metal bands like Angelus Apatrida, Crisix, Vita Imana, Demonik, Sons of the Beast, Rancor, along with Heavy Metal veterans like Bar—n Rojo, Le–o, Angeles del Infierno... We would probably need a whole day to name every band.
4. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?
We describe ourselves as a thrash metal band.Thrash metal made up from the influence that each of us have but based on our common likes such as Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera, Anthrax, Testament, Slayer.
5. What can people expect from this new album, why should they be interested and check it out?
We took a different approach when making this new album, "Sin Destino" we spent three entire years writing it, and fifteen days recording it in Moita, Portugal. We chose The Ultrasound Studios mainly because we wanted the album's sound, mix, and mastering to make justice to all that effort we have put into the making of it. And we wanted it to be aggressive, with cutting guitars, strong drums, big basses combined with a strong and powerful vocals. New Spanish Thrash, sounds interesting right?
6. Do you play live as well? What do you have planned in terms of shows and touring, if any?
We play live as well of course, we are working on an official national tour for October 2015. We want to tour around the country and spread our music and thrash feels all around Spain first. If everything goes right, who puts the limits? We think patience and hard work will lead us there.
7. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We want the world to listen to us, working day by day to make everybody to feel as us, showing our energy and make the people have a good time. We like our shows to be a big party, a fun and energetic party.
8. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Our music it's at YouTube and music platforms like Spotify or Amazon. Our merchandising is available in our online shop hosted on Facebook.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
