Trapped In The Past Briefly Discuss the Efforts in Releasing a Debut EP
Deathcore/metalcore group Trapped In The Past are currently hard at work writing and recording for their debut EP. The follow-up release to their top notch hit single "Time Signature". Drummer Noah Martynstien gave us a brief discussion on the EP's process, new merchandise and new shows!
1. So what can you tell me about this new EP?
Noah: This will be our first ever E.P. that we are releasing.
2. What title did you decide to go with it and is there a meaning behind it?
Noah: We are still deciding on a title for the E.P.
3. Is this EP going to be a concept release?
Noah: No it will not be, every song has a different meaning.
4. Where are you in the recording process of the new EP?
Noah: We are currently half way done.
5. Who is producing the EP? How has the producer aided the recording process?
Noah: Cameron Marygold of Native Productions is recording our E.P. and he's really easy to work with and we speed through sessions.
6. Where are you recording the EP?
Noah: Canoga Park, California.
7. Did you have any definitive goals you were shooting for before the recording process began for this EP?
Noah: Just to improve from our last release which is our Self-titled demo and to give more of a variety.
8. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?
Noah: We have started using 7-string guitars and a 5-string bass guitar.
9. When did you start writing for this EP? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous releases?
Noah: We started writing new songs on June of 2014. The difference was that we did not set these songs on a specific genre, we just wrote was came to us and put it in the songs.
10. Did you feel any pressure whatsoever to get this out for everyone to hear?
Noah: No, we have been taking our time with it to make sure it sounds great.
11. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new EP? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?
Noah: Our song/single "Time Signature", the sound has a mixture of different genres but it's mainly Metalcore. It came to us when we we're practicing and it was time to write a new E.P.
12. How is the vibe in the studio?
Noah: The vibe in the studio is very chill, we get through recording simple and quick and it's not hard for us to experiment new ideas in there while recording.
13. When can we expect the new EP to be released?
Noah: We have no set release date but it should be out very soon.
14. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?
Noah: More new material, some more shows, and some merch.
