Hatsune Miku Expo 2014 in New York

Japan has come up with a LOT of ideas. In 2007 a new type of artist taking the form as a vocaloid, for those not familiar that is a singing voice synthesizer. This vocaloid was developed and distributed by Cryption Future Media Inc. being said to be the first member in the Character Voice series and seventh Vocaloid overall. As the years pressed onwards, so did this vocaloid in question by the name of Hatsune Miku or sometimes referred to as Miku Hatsune or simply "Miku". She is portrayed as a 16 year old girl with long turquoise pigtails with a retro robotic school girl type of outfit with headphones. Her voice is provided by the Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita. Hatsune Miku has considered the most popular and well known of the vocaloids and was the first to become a pop idol icon.

That said, she has since released countless CDs, DVDs, playing showcases to even touring across the globe. It's gotten so popular that Miku developed her own expo called the Hatsune Miku Expo. A festival where multiple contents from artwork exhibits, merchandise, interactive music activities, to a full concert experience using the cutting edge projection technology with a live band. So yes Hatsune Miku is a projected figure but one that has flare and style with an overwhelming fan base that is always following suit.

The Hatune Miku Expo 2014 edition was held in New York where a DVD of that concert experience was shot and filmed for release. Whereabouts exactly? Well over at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. The concert and expo both sold out of course, so it shows her popularity quite well indeed. The concert itself though is something totally different than your average concert from a performer. As said, Hatsune Miku performs via projection with a live band in tow, so projections ranging from images of fireworks, lighting effects, to color changing lights, all cycle in with one another to create a performance for all its performers, yes performers. Hatsune Mike wasn't the only performer for this night's events. Her other friends were there as well to perform, Meiko, Kaito, Luka Megurine, Rin Kagamine, and Len Kagamine. Each of them doing about a few songs during their own performance time slot.

If you're wondering as to what style of music these acts provide it's a combination of sorts;  Pop, rock, dance, house, techno, crossed over into one genre aspect. So you somewhat get an all over experience which ends up being quite catchy and very upbeat. The performance with its fan base in witness was quite interesting to behold, all of the fans in attendance held up light colored glow sticks, twirling them about, to the beats of the songs being performed. There wasn't really any other style of activity like a typical concert with headbanging, mosh pits, crowd surfers, none of that activity was present. This was all movement by the flow of the glow sticks, with the added flare of screams and shouts from the energetic fans of course.

Those fans also sung along to the lyrics along with danced in place to Hatsune Miku's catchy beats of all 27 songs, running over 120 minutes. That's what this concert experience was all about, while it may be time lengthy, it was an interesting experience and thrill of a ride to behold. The DVD of course comes in different variations with content, ranging from the concert piece itself to interviews, documentary, etc. Loads of content that can entertain you to the highest ability available, that will live you wondering just what did you watch, and why are you not finding yourself as a fan of it? That is Hatsune Miku a pop idol vocaloid that has got people everywhere talking!
