Thrash death metal act POKERFACE, released their latest album "Divide In Rule", which they have taken the time to discuss, as well as give some details about themselves as a band.
1. Please tell us
about the history of your band and its members.
We started in
2013 as a proto-metal band with male vocals. Our first setlist included covers
on Slayer, Kreator, Moonspell and Motorhead. Later we were focusing on our own
new material in the thrash genre and moved to female vocals. In 2014 we recorded the EP
"Terror Is The Law" and later in 2015 our full release "Divide In
Rule".
Delirium Tremens - our
front-woman with baby proportions but brutal growl vocal. Very young talented
person.
Maniac - The dedicated
guitarist, he plays in several band from doom to brutal grind metal.
Whitevad - Our new
guitar, joined us in end of 2015
Dedmoroz - Bass
guitar, tour manager, driver. Multifunctional member of band.
Doctor - Drummer,
co-founder and a heart of the band.
2. What’s the origin
of the band’s name?
Doctor: The name was
given by Dietrich, ex-leader of the band. We played Motorhead covers very
often, especially track "Ace Of Spades". And we thought - "Why
not? Not ordinary name with old-school connotation!" Now we are POKERFACE
and it sounds good!
3. Where is the band
based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands
you could recommend?
Doctor: The band is
based in Moscow, Russia, but all members from different cities of the country.
The Russian scene never was huge and famous. We have a lot of political and
economical problems here. In Russia everybody likes foreign bands and 2-3 local
bands only. In present, folk-metal music is very popular, maybe you know
Arcona.
4. How would you
describe your style?
Doctor:
Brutal-female-vocal-baby-thrash-death-metal! At the beginning we were playing
simple, fast, old-school thrash, nowadays we are slowly moving to thrash-death,
old-school-death and who knows what is next?
5. What have you
released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Doctor: We released
our debut LP "Divide And Rule" in 2015 with 10 speed and brutal thrash
metal tracks. We
worked hard, we were balancing between tours, supports, and studio, recording. But
we produced a nice album, I really love it, always ready to listen to it again and again
and again in my player.
6. Do you have any new
music in the works?
Doctor: Of course! We write new music every chance we get and everywhere - in the studio, on the road, and even backstage. We are planning to present new tracks in the Spring gigs or tours. I hope the new release will be done in August or September.
7. How about playing
shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Dmitry: Yes, we have a confirmed a show with Death in Moscow and we will play on Metal Crowd Open Air Festival in Belarus. We will be playing with such bands as Atrocity, Leaves Eyes etc. We will also be joining Tearless on their Balkan Tour and will play on the Hammer and Tongs Festival in Novi Sad (Serbia) as a part of the tour. Some of our shows are awaiting confirmation, so stayed tuned on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pfacegroup/) to find out in which cities you can
visit us!
8. What plans do you
have for the future as a band?
Doctor: We are focused on EU promotion and we really want to be a famous baby trash metal band in Europe. I think we have all the opportunities to reach this target.

time?
