Scenario II's Mark Talks of New Music, Playing Shows and More!

Scenario II combines melodic death metal with thrash metal, to create their own unique blend of metal music. That said, the band has gone on to release material, with follow-up works coming soon. They have plans to continue to write material and play lots of nice countries from show to show with so much more in-store for them! Song writer, guitarist, bassist, and synthist Mark Van Doren discusses the band's time together, both past, and present activity.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Mark: I joined in 1999 a band called Aura which was a melodic metal band. I became songwriter and we played lots of nice gigs. It was a band with only friends but on professional level. For me personally, I wanted more, I needed more. The band stopped because we weren't on the same level anymore.

I missed playing with my friends and we talked a lot about what we really wanted. I started after 6 months with Scenario II with some of the members of Aura. We had a lot of line-up changes because of the higher goals Scenario II set and some members weren't on the same level as others. The band found a stable line-up and got lots of great memorable gigs. Scenario II had a lot of great musicians over the years.

Once again the band experienced a hard time in 2013 because of personal lives of some members and the very poor fees by venues, or no venues at all to play at. The market in Holland was killing the music industry and people stayed at home. We decided to get a break.

It was really what we needed. Again, I could't let go and start writing. I called my friend and drummer Bas van den Boom and we started recording my ideas. It wasn't just the recording and the tracks which were great, we really had the old fun factor back! Now, we are more motivated as ever before and started recording this killer record, which will be released this spring 2016.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Mark: When I left Aura and started Scenario II felt like Scenario II. Go live your dreams!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Mark: Scenario II is based out in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. We have the Eindhoven Rock city scene. Lots of great bands come from Eindhoven. It all started with the Dynamo club you will probably know? We grew up in dynamo and what a great scene we have in Eindhoven! I miss those days a lot. Dynamo Open Air! Awesome!

4. How would you describe your style?

Mark: Gothenburg Style with the frequent use of Female Vocals. We have an unique sound I have been told, so maybe you should all listen and let me know. ;)

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Mark: We have released an album called Uniforms of Death and our second album will come out this spring 2016. Scenario II will give you a very melodic heavy sound, fast twin riffs, synths with aggressive, heavenly vocals.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Mark: Beside Scenario II I am a producer/songwriter. I started my own studio and work on lots of projects.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Mark: We are booking shows at the moment. We will start playing live after our new release comes out which will be probably in September 2016.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Mark: Have fun with the band and write great albums and play lots of nice countries.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
