Adley Stump says Country Music has a Way of Story Telling!

Adley Stump has released a new song and video for "Don't Wanna Love Him" and is already in the works of releasing newer music real soon. That said, she took some time to discuss her latest tunes and what plans ahead she has lined-up.

1. First off, please tell us more about yourself – How you got into Music, Where you’re from, etc.

Adley: I’m from Tulsa, OK and got my start in music on NBC’s The Voice/Team Blake Season 2. I moved to Nashville and have been incredibly blessed that the stages and opportunities have gotten better since that incredible experience!

2. Why did you want to play Country Music?

Adley: Country music has a way of story-telling that has been attractive to me since a young age. I grew up listening to all kinds of music, but when it came time to take it seriously, Country is my background and was such a natural fit.

3. Who or what inspires you when you write songs?

Adley: Just like an artist in any field, inspiration can strike anywhere. Emotions, experiences, what my co-writers are vibing…etc.  As songwriters, we often have to put ourselves in positions we haven’t always been in, and the inspiration is drawn from all over the place.

4. What artists or bands have inspired you the most?

Adley: Dolly Parton, Beyonce, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton & Thomas Rhett are a few that have really inspired me across the board. From an integrity standpoint, a business model standpoint and an artistic standpoint. As a singer, you pull inspirations from different artists I think for individual reasons based on why you want to emulate what they have done in certain instances.

5. What's the story behind the song and video for "Don't Wanna Love Him"?

Adley: That was a song I wrote with friends Neal Coty & Eric Torres. When I won the Grammy Amplifier award, I got to work with The Recording Academy and Hyundai to bring that song to life with a video. I am so fortunate to have had their support on this release, it’s been a blast watching the response to it as our first single off the upcoming album.

6. You went and released that song on of all days, this year's Friday the 13th of May, did you realize what happened there when this song was released?

Adley: Ha, yes I did. But unfortunately on the business side, we have deadlines. We knew the video was releasing the following week, and new releases come out on Fridays, so to get the single out there in time for the video, Friday the 13th was our only option.

7. Besides that song, being your newest piece of work, do you have any other new music in the works, in terms of a follow-up to your previous release the EP "Like This"?

Adley: Yes, we are working on the next album and hoping for a late-Fall release. I think we’ve just about got the final songs locked in. I’m eager to get the new music out there.

8. How would you say you differ from other bands and artists on the Country Music scene?

Adley: The sound is definitely less traditional and more dark pop, while not straying from some of the integrities that keep music relative to a country market & country radio. The lyricism on the rest of the record is strong and full of great stories and relatable characters.

9. What do you have planned for the rest of this year?

Adley: We are finishing a string of festival runs the next couple months and preparing for our first round of stadium tours later this fall and into 2017. I couldn’t be more excited!

10. Anything else you'd like to say or would like to add?

Adley: Until we get to your city, I love chatting with new fans via social media (@adleystump virtually everywhere!) and am grateful to meet everyone that comes out to our shows. Thanks for listening & sharing “Don’t Wanna Love Him!”
