The Fame Riot the Freekz Duo
Five year old act The Fame Riot, is a timeless, glam, boyz and girlz duo that is just getting started, already releasing a single and video for "Heart Stray", playing shows, with further plans on doing more music and shows to follow suit. The duo took the time to discuss their time so far and what plans they have ahead.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Liz: Me and Shazam have been playing music together now, as an act, for over 5 years. We’ve been THE FAME RIOT for just over 3 years. We are and always will be a musical duo. But we also perform with live members as our backing band.
Shazam: The vast plane of inter-dimensional travel contributed greatly to our exploration of sound. Shazam and Liz shared the womb of trans-galactic speech and warmth. There have only ever been 2 members. The core of THE FAME RIOT is its reliance on a sharing of passion and love. It is both the Progenesis of our species as well as the antithesis of an evolutionary process. It exists within and without. The end is the beginning.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Liz: We used to call ourselves MOONJUICE. Unfortunately, several other people had also chosen that name for their businesses, cover bands, websites, etc. So we were forced to change names, based on what we knew we needed.
Shazam: The name is an identification of our freekz as well as a tongue-in-cheek reference to our society's obsession with fame and what that concept entails. We are all a part of this metamorphosis. It is all inclusive, and yet exists as an exclusive entity, intent on expanding its vision and life. Hence, it's slight comparison to a religion. Though we prefer the togetherness of spirit, rather than the separation of a crowd.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Liz: We live in a cloudy-ass magical forest land called the PNW. We have an apartment in a city called Tacoma, just south of Seattle.
Shazam: We reside in many places. The Pacific Northwest is our scene. Our chalice of communion and also our alter of inspiration. Though we stride through a skyline saturated in drone, our hearts reside in the open expanse of the forests. Isolation is the parallel line between blessing and curse.
4. How would you describe your style?
Liz: Passionate love. Gourmet organic food (non-GMO). Glam. Boyz and Girlz. Fashion. Timeless.
Shazam: Our style is simply a reflection of our own spirits. I wouldn't consider it fashion as much as it is a soul mirror. Much like a mood ring if those bloody things really worked.
5. What can you tell me about your single and video for "Heart Stray”?
Liz: It’s the very first song we’ve ever released. We recently just signed our first deal with Another Century. We’ve just released the music video on YouTube, go check it out!
Shazam: A beautiful song with a beautiful message. A reference to soar above the expectations and restraints of the negativity (or negative people) that seek to usurp your freedom for the sole purpose of eviscerating your individuality. We believe that in order to truly fly high, you must put aside the straight jacket of humanity. Accepting the spiritual aspect of who we are is essential to finding meaning within this physical realm. The video was a joy! What a collaboration between a band and it's freek tribe.
6. What else have you released so far and do you have any new music in the works?
Liz: Nothing else has been released yet. But we’re constantly creating and I know there will be something new, before we know it.
Shazam: We released an EP titled "Dust Funk". It was only printed twice. We felt extremely privileged to place this record into the hands of die-hard TFR fans. The songs were really a labor of love and persistence in the face of growing pains. So much music is on the way. SO MUCH. The era of Dust Funk was a birthing, and the development of our future is only a matter of timing.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Liz: We’re still working out details, but we always try to get around and play as much as possible. No official tours booked at this point in the game!
Shazam: WE WILL BE TOURING THE MARS/JUPITER CIRCUIT DURING THE TWILIGHT MONTHS.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Liz: Take over the minds of the youth.
Shazam: A man's plans are a fool's plans. Luckily, we are aliens. Our calendars are booking up fast. We sincerely hope that you find a way to see us live in a more intimate setting before we begin the galactic stadium tour... cause there really is no exchange for the being right in front of the stage with green blood flying everywhere.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Liz: THEFAMERIOT.COM.
Shazam: You can hear our radio single "Heart Stray” nationally this summer/fall and you will have to wait for us to order/create more merchandise. We sell out far too quickly to stay in stock baby.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Liz: Our style. Our voice(s). How much it invades their personal space.
Shazam: I would love if the listener came away from our music with a sense of love, positivity, and hope. Those are general ideas, but I believe it is our job to reach out to the broken individual, the hurting soul, and the lost cluster of atoms. To give direction and purpose to someone is the epitome of reward.
