Owleye says No Wounds because Time Heals
Owleye came together through the passion of music, as they created and drove to become successful. During their time just starting out, they released an EP titled "Time Heals" with a follow-up EP called "No Wounds", in which they would face some changes since first starting out, up until this point in their musical careers, that's nothing to what these guys have in-store. Find out what they are all about below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band started in 2013 with a group of friends wanting to make some sweet metal music. DJ (guitar) Frank (drums) and Brad (bass) are the original members of the band and brought Dave (guitar) and myself (Tim, vocals) in to the band mid 2015. So with this lineup today we have been a band for a little over a year. It's always tough having member changes but I think this move worked out for the best for this band.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Owleye is kind of a play on words, basically we all have a lot of respect and love for the symbology that Owls have with knowledge and wisdom. So to us our name really represents knowledge/wisdom is in the eye of the beholder. Hence Owleye.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based out of Denver Colorado USA and the scene here is super awesome. With Colorado growing at such a fast pace brings in a lot of new people cultures and music so really you can find any genre of music on any given night if you know where to look. In our genre we have a lot of talent and has really grown over the years where the scene actually works together and supports one another which is truly the key to success for any local scene. To name a couple of bands readers should also check out with us would have to be our dudes in As The Sky Darkens and Heavy Hearts. Both of those bands are killer and deserve to be heard!
4. How would you describe your style?
Our style is very diverse. We have a weird mixture of modern day metalcore, late 2000s Post Hardcore, and a little pop/ pop punk. We like to mix things up and hopefully we continue to do cause it keeps us and listeners entertained.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We released our debut EP "No Wounds" this past April. To say the least the EP is a real roller coaster ride with so many different feelings and emotions going on in it. Being our debut EP we didn't want to write a typical release that has kind of an underlying tone to it where it all blends together which could happen for better or for worse. Instead we really wanted to make every single song on it it's own entity with different tones and feelings. There are some super heavy parts some big bright happy fun parts and a super soft pop influenced song on it. It really is a cool listen and keeps the listeners attention all the way through.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We are currently working on our first full length that we hopefully will begin to get into a studio to record late November. We are pretty big sticklers when it comes to Pre-Production and getting everything almost perfect before even stepping into a studio.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Well we just played a couple cool shows opening up for Silent Planet and Oh, Sleeper. Next up we are playing a show with our good friends in Demon in Me in the 2nd week of September. We are also working on a couple small legs of tour in October/November and just waiting back on all the details so we can actually announce where we are going.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Really as long as we keep up our motivation and determination I see us really turning this into our primary job and hopefully touring full time. We are putting in a lot of work right now and hopefully it all pays off!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
We are available on Spotify and iTunes. You can also get links to every one of our musical outlets on our website www.OwleyeOfficial.com.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I just want the listener to connect with it in some shape or form to be honest. Our music to this point has been about every day struggles all us humans go through on a day to day basis. Life is shit sometime and we get it cause we live it just like you but through our lyrics in music we try to find the positive in shitty situations and events. So if one person can play any of our songs and be like "Damn, I totally am getting where this guy is coming from" I will be super happy. I write as a therapy to get stuff off of my chest, music is my outlet so if anyone can connect with that it truly is an amazing feeling.
