DANISH GUITAR VIRTUOSO QUIST TO RELEASE NEW INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM TRIGGER ON APRIL 28TH VIA FRETMONKEY RECORDS
Danish guitar virtuoso Quist (aka Jacob Quistgaard) has announced that he will be releasing his new instrumental album Trigger on April 28th via FRETMONKEY RECORDS. The album will mark the first instrumental record by Quist, who has made a name for himself in recent years as the lead guitarist for UK rock legend Bryan Ferry. He is also the man behind the QuistJam YouTube channel, which has over 40 million views.
Trigger will feature an all-star caliber line up of musicians and players such as Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson), Dave De Rose (Mark Ronson), and English composer Magnus Fiennes (Shakira, Pulp, Tom Jones). The album also features lead single “She #Zen” which will see an official video release soon. Fans can pre-order the album on iTunes.
Quist had this to say about the album: “The album started coming together as I was touring the world performing with Valerie June, and then Bryan Ferry. Those gigs had happened as a result of making a conscious decision to embrace my inner guitar geek and totally focus on the instrument that started it all for me. That decision started a huge wave of change in my life. A wave that moved me from London to Los Angeles, gave me an audience on YouTube, sent me touring more than ever, opened up new doors, enabled killer contributions from the musicians I was touring with, and – most importantly – made me realize the strength in allowing yourself to be YOU. 'Trigger' represents a monumental personal and musical journey for me, a thirst for exploring, and a brand new chapter. I hope you enjoy the music."
To celebrate the release of the album, Quist will be performing at the legendary Whisky A Go Go on April 25th at 9PM.
Quist started playing the guitar at age 6, moving to London in his teens to study at the UK version of Musicians Institute (G.I.T), where he was awarded the title “Outstanding Guitarist of the Year.” After which he landed a scholarship to study at the world-renowned Royal Academy of Music. At the Academy, Quist studied under John Ashton Thomas (X-men, Ice Age, Kung Fu Panda, Night at the Museum), amongst others.
Having recorded a debut for Sony Music Denmark whilst still a student, Quist has since had more than 40 of his tracks synced and featured on TV, radio, films and computer games. He keeps a steady output of new music, with increasing emphasis on his love of music for moving pictures.
He remains an active session guitarist, having appeared across the world at major festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury, venues like Royal Albert Hall and Abbey Road, on TV shows like Jools Holland, BBC Breakfast and Le Grand Journal (in France). He has also worked for labels like BMG, Decca, Polydor, Warner, Sony, Mercury, Universal, Ninja Tunes and Brownswood.
