SikTh's Mikee Asks the Future is in Whose Eyes?

Progressive metal rockers SikTh will release their new album "The Future In Whose Eyes?" this summer. But before that happens the band has gone ahead releasing a new single turned video called "Golden Cufflinks". With those releases underway the band wants to go on to tour the world, wanting as many people to listen and feel the music that they have written, really reading and hearing the words from it. Frontman vocalist and lyricist Mikee W. Goodman discusses this new album, it's single, and plans ahead.

1.What role do you play in the band?

Mikee: Singer and lyricist.

2. Why go with a name like SikTh? Does it have a meaning to it?

Mikee: It's just our own word which only means the band name. So when you search for it online, only the band comes up. You only think of the band when you say it.

3. What has influenced your sound and style?

Mikee: We all grew up on Pantera, Sepultura, FNM and Metallica. Then we all have our own particular tastes. But we wanted to make our own sound. So we experimented a lot.

4. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Mikee: I talk of love and loss, mind manipulation, hypocrisy, good and evil, poverty and glamour, social media suppression and the lack of creation, magical flower beings and many other moons of thought.

5. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Mikee: Yes we write our own songs. The guitarists and drummer work in groups and on their own, they come up with riffs, piece them together, then send them to me. I then work out my rhythms and melodies, then I work out lyrics to my sounds in the right concept of what I have decided that song to be about.

6. How do you describe your music to people?

Mikee: Unique. Chaotic, progressive, aggressive, epic, melodic and intricate.

7. What image do you think your music conveys?

Mikee: A very confused man pissing himself at a bus stop.

 8. You will soon be releasing your new album "The Future In Whose Eyes?", can you tell me a little bit about it?

Mikee: It's a very heavy interesting album, some have said cinematic. It's extreme in aggression but also trips into moments of psychedelia. Very progressive in structure, groovy and technical in riffs. Lyrically it is poetic and challenging in many ways, asking the listener questions as much as commentating on the world as I see it.

9. What is the concept behind the album and how did the idea come about?

Mikee: There is no straight concept. The art and title was influenced by the evolution and devolution of humanity.

10. What is your favorite song on the record and why?

Mikee: I don't have a favorite but I do really like the way Weavers of Woe is so aggressive then becomes psychedelic, that's a cool thing. I like Cracks of Light and The Aura a lot too.

11. What can fans expect from the new album?

Mikee: The next step of SikThs' evolving sound. Something bright, dark, epic and unique.

12. What was the writing and recording process like for this album?

Mikee: Quite a grueling process, was very hard for me to as things seemed so intense.  I did not like the recording process. It was non stop work from the start to the end. Really took it out of me.

13. Why do you think people should check out your new album once released?

Mikee: I think people should listen to the entire album and soak it all up .

14. How would you say you differ from other bands and artists on the scene?

Mikee: We are pioneers, we sound like no other and we strive to make new interesting and challenging music. Also lyrically I am out on my own, that goes for the spoken words on there too.

15. What do you want to achieve as a band?

Mikee: Tour the world, I want many people to listen and feel the music. I also want people to read and hear the words.

16. What does next year hold for you?

Mike: I do not yet know, I hope to go back to USA!

17. Describe SikTh in three words.

Mike: Intense, Unique , Progressive.
