KRISTEEN YOUNG Debuts Dynamic “You Always Win” Video
The dynamic, genre-defying Kristeen Young returns with a new video for single “You Always Win”, featuring Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) on guitar, today via BlackBook. Preceded by equally cinematic videos for “Nice” and “These are the Things I’m Not the Most”, “You Always Win” marks the third preview of her highly anticipated eighth studio album Live at the Witch’s Tit, co-produced by Young and Tony Visconti, which has finally received a solid release date of September 29.
Directed by Jenn Alva of Girl in a Coma and FEA, the video takes place at a seemingly seedy brothel-gallery, featuring artwork by Suzy González and Allison C. Valdivia, with Kristeen wearing a sequined American flag dress previously owned by Phyllis Diller and gifted to her by longtime tour mate Morrissey. In true Kristeen Young fashion, she modified the dress herself to include the matchstick collar.
Of the song itself, Kristeen explains, “[It] speaks to being a peripheral of person or group of people who are always left out...and how it always comes back to being an individual...When we have nothing, we still have that. As small as it seems, it can affect them (the people in control who have always had everything and are seemingly oblivious).”
