Burn River Burn's Mike says Thanks for the Ride New Music Comin!
Rock n' rollers BURN RIVER BURN was formed back in 2010, with only a few years to their namesake, the band has gone on to release two albums, "Self-Titled" (2012) with the follow-up "Neüstonia" (2016). Current word of activity is new music is underway, with further plans to release said music, with wanting sights set on getting signed to a record label! Guitarist Mike Plunkett discusses the matters in question.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Mike: The band was established in 2010 with the intention to make fist-banging rock and roll and that's where we are today.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Mike: Two of the original members, Chuck Howell and Dan Knight come originally from Cleveland Ohio. They came up with the name Burn River Burn based on the Cuyahoga River starting on fire back in 1969. That name carried on to California where it's currently the perfect name for the type of music we're playing.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Mike: We're based out of San Francisco, California. The music scene tends to be more DJs, light rock, indie rock, etc. Our form of Heavy Rock is loved in other parts of the Bay Area even in a time where heavy rock seems on the decline in the city. A couple other Great Bay Area bands include Devil in California, Zed, the Road Vikings, Swamphammer, and OnOff,... and of course the bigger Bay Area bands that you've heard of before.
4. How would you describe your style?
Mike: I would describe our style as classic rock mixed with grunge rock with a dash of metal in the whole lot of kick ass!
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Mike: We have released two albums so far. One self-titled album in 2012, which I wasn't in the band to record, and our album Neüstonia, which I had the privilege of playing guitar on. As of now we are well on our way to finishing our third album which has been a fuckin blast to write. I think as a band we really gelling and defining our sound well staying true to who we really are as musicians.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Mike: The new album isn't named yet. I'm guessing we're going to name the new album once everything is recorded and we get a feel for it in its entirety. But I do know one thing for sure, anyone who loves rock and roll will dig our sound and will not be disappointed in whats to come. Nor would anyone hearing for the first time be disappointed in our past two albums.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Mike: We have a gang of show set up for this November. Unfortunately due to the hurricane our Texas wing is cancelled but we will be up and down the California coast in November and heading to TX in 2018. You can check us out at burnriverburn.com for exact dates!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Mike: As of now we're working on getting signed. We're putting our feelers out there and looking for the best label for us. We currently have some solid interest from a European label. We're hoping to tour and continue writing music as long as humanly possible.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Mike: We are on Spotify, iTunes, burnriverburn.com, SoundCloud, etc. You can get our album on any of these formats and check out our videos on YouTube!
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Mike: We're not riding your typical ballads. We put a lot of love time and energy into making sure the listener has a good experience both sonically and structurally. We want every song to be like a different ride at an amusement park. Buckle up, strap in and enjoy the ride!
