Them Evils' Jordan Talks of New EP Underway with Touring Plans Around the Corner!
Rock n' rollers Them Evils have launched a pledge campaign for all new material, currently in the works, with even further plans on writing more music, and touring of course as well. Frontman vocalist/guitarist Jordan Griffin talks about the new material, current single "Got Me Rockin'", touring plans and more!
1. Who are you and what role do you have in the band?
Jordan: I’m Jordan and I play guitar and sing for Them Evils.
2. Where are you all from?
Jordan: Jake and myself are from Las Vegas, NV. David is from Orange, CA.
3. How long have you been a band and how did you get started?
Jordan: We've been together just under four years. Jake and I moved from Las Vegas after realizing it was a dead end for our band. We came to Orange County, more specifically Huntington Beach, to be closer to LA. We went through an abundance of Craig’s List drummers until we found David. I was introduced to him through a coworker and we've been Them Evils ever since.
4. How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard you before?
Jordan: My best description is BALLS OUT ROCK N’ ROLL! If you like riffs, fuzz, sleaze, and attitude we're the right band for you!
5. What can you tell us about your new single "Got Me Rockin'"? What's the inspiration for the song?
Jordan: We feel it represents the direction we want to go as a band. Addictive riffs, fuzz, solos, backing vocals that catch your ear, harmonies, and a strong chorus. We drew inspiration from always being the guys your parents didn't want walking through the door with their daughter, at least lyrically. Musically, it all starts with a riff and a groove.
6. What is your writing and recording process like?
Jordan: Like I mentioned previously, it all starts with the riff. We decide if we want it to be the opening riff, the chorus riff, or the catchy jam part of the song. Then we mess around with vocal melodies and vocal structures. The vibe flows organically and then we write the song around that. When it comes to recording we track a few demos until we're ready to record the final product.
7. Tell us a bit about your upcoming EP release out this May.
Jordan: It’s our second EP and our first with producer Kato Khandwala. It’s being released on all streaming and music purchasing outlets on May 4th. We're all really stoked on it - It’s our best work yet. We've started a Pledge Music campaign to kind of "kick start' the process and engage with fans and music listeners all around. We're a riff driven band so there’s going to be a lot of those on there!
8. Is there any significance behind your band name - how did you come up with it?
Jordan: Funny story, actually. My mother was texting the word "Temecula" and her iPhone auto corrected it to "Them Evils". She called me and said, "Hey, I got a great band name for ya'". So we used it.
9. What is your favorite memory as a band to this point?
Jordan: Man, there’s so many. We always have such a blast on the road! But, we played a sold out show with Zakk Sabbath and I had my parents on FaceTime with me. I asked the crowd to say Happy Birthday to my step dad so I turned the phone around and over 2,000 screamed “Happy Birthday” for him! It was a special moment. They also got a glimpse what we've been working so hard for... I'm sure they felt proud.
10. What are your goals for the future as a band - where do you want to be a year from now, 5 years from now, etc.?
Jordan: We’ll keep touring, stay relevant, progress musically, and become a stronger band. I want to see our music in movies, on television, and Them Evils selling out Madison Square Garden!
11. What are your plans for the rest of 2018?
Jordan: Tour and write more music. We've caught the attention of a lot of people across America and we want to follow up with fans of our previous release and gain new ones. We want our tour(s)to be something special, something that will stick with fans after the show. It’s all about making everlasting impressions and inspiring people.
