Alternative rockers VENDETTA RED have released their new album titled "Quinceañera" and are already in the progress of working on the next album! Touring, videos, and more will follow suite of this album's release among other plans in the works as well! Find out all about these matters at hand from the act only known as VENDETTA RED....
1. Can you help us get to know a little bit more about the band - how did you meet and get started in music? What's the story?
We met at the society for evil wizards conference in 1998. With the blessings, guidance and influence of our dark lord The Crimson King, we set out on a path to corrupt the youth through the deceptive, and insidious power of evil music. MUAH HA HA HA HA!
2. How do you describe your music to people?
Geoff Rickly from Thursday once told me we were like the punk rock Led Zepplin so I totally use that one.
3. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Our songs are about Science, Art, Love, Religion, Joy, Despair, and cover themes of redemption, sorrow, triumph, and hope.
4. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Yes. Do you know that scene in Alien where the baby larvae jumps out of the guy's chest all bloody and screaming? Well just like that for me. I will kind of overload my brain with inspiration and melody ideas until I absolutely have to let it out. Burke I think is just blessed with songs and when he gets up in the morning a golden light shines out of his eyes and onto the page.
5. Who are your musical influences?
Radiohead, Sunny Day Real Estate, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Morrissey, Suede, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, Far, Janes Addiction, Manic Street Preachers
6. Where does the name VENDETTA RED come from?
I thought I invented it but since our inception, I've seen it as a nail polish color and other strange pop culture things.
7. Why is "Quinceañera, ", the first album since 2005? We actually made an amazing record in 2012 with Terry Date that we never properly released. Still looking for a label to put it out if anyones interested.
8. Can you tell me why you took such a long gap between releasing material?We did a bunch of other musical projects in between. I put out 2 amazing records with a band called Sirens Sister, Burke joined Duff McKagan's Loaded and I got married and had a couple of kids, and Burke raises chickens. So we're pretty damn busy.
9. Your new album is out on of all days, Friday the 13th, did you take notice of that - and do you think that will make good or bad luck upon the release?
Of course now that the planets and dates are aligned we can finally split open the gates of Hell and let chaos spill forth to eat your mortal souls. MUA HA HA AHA AHA
10. What does next year hold for VENDETTA RED?
As well as blood sacrifices and tithing to Our Infernal Lord of Darkness, The Crimson King, We are touring and making videos and will be making another album starting in December so busy, busy, busy!
