Voksal Chats Of New Music and More!
Indie new wave rock n' rollers Voksal have an EP just released titled "Visual Kei" with a new single as well called "Strange Voices". But while those are active and well, the band is currently writing even more newer material and will likely be releasing new works and unreleased works too. The band goes into chatter about all of these matters.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Voksal started around 4 years ago with a gumtree advert put online by Zak (vocals, guitars). Dom (guitar, synths) joined back then and over the years the two Australians Kasper (bass, backing vocals) and Julian (drums) completed the line up.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
When picking the band name Dom was back from a trip in Russia and suggested the only Russian word he learnt. It sounded good and it also has a London connection so we went for it.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based in London, mostly around Hackney. There’s lots going on in the music scene here. We loved sharing the stage with Plastic Barricades, Ruby, Silvastrain, the Wholls just to mention a few.
4. How would you describe your style?
Some kind of Indie rock, hard to place, we take suggestions.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have an EP out released last year (Visual Kei) and recently launched a new single (Strange Voices).
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes! We are currently writing new material and trying to arrange some recording session for some of the unreleased songs we have.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We are playing on the 14h of August at the Monarch in Camden Town. We are going to announce a few more dates in September soon.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We’ll just see where it takes us, for now it’s just writing music and playing gigs.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and all the online platforms. We also have a YouTube channel with our two videos.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Some of our choruses and where to find our music.
