Fusion artist EDGARD is a guitarist/songwriter who has had his own musical identity blending the likes of blues, jazz,and prog into his own fusion technique. Thus, over time he has played shows and released content, including his upcoming first ever live EP release titled "EDGARD Live at Bedrock LA" with even newer material already ready to go! Edgard talks about this live EP, future works, and other plans at hand currently.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band project?
It always has been natural to me to write new melodies and harmonies, ever since I’ve picked up the guitar. After I moved to Los Angeles and been working with many different projects in a variety of genres, I decided to dedicate myself and focus my attention into my personal project and own original material!
2. What made you want to have your own name is the project name?
As this is my own project, It was only natural it was named after me! I believe the band sound really represents who I am.
3. Where is the project based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
I’m originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but I’ve been based in Los Angeles, CA since late 2015. I believe it’s one of the best cities in the world regarding it’s live music scene and the entertainment business. There’s a lot of demand for performances and plenty of interesting people to network with. I’d check out the works of Polymorph, a prog/rock band, Mr.Giant, a funk/fusion 9-piece band, and also Urban Escape, a alternative rock band. Just to name a few.
4. How would you describe your style?
I’m deeply rooted in blues and rock. Improvisation plays a major role in my music. I grew up under a heavy influence of Jimi Hendrix. Also, Derek Trucks have been inspiring me greatly for the last years. But I don’t restrain myself, incorporating elements of different styles into my own fusion.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
I’m releasing my debut Live EP on September 14th at The Hotel Café in Hollywood! "EDGARD | Live at Bedrock LA" will be available on every streaming platform!
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes! I have plenty more of new material ready to be recorded!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
I’m constantly performing with several different projects in the Los Angeles area! After the EP release on September 14th, I’m playing on September 20th at The Sand Dollar Lounge in Las Vegas. On October, I’ll be in Brazil for a short 3-week tour. More performances dates throughout the US are currently being booked at the moment.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a project?
I want to keep playing more live shows and soon record some new original material! Maybe bring soon my show to Europe as well!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
My main philosophy is to stay true to who you are. To be yourself and trust your intuitions. Also, being present in the moment. In my improvisations, my idea is to capture the energy of that unique moment and express how I’m feeling. My Live EP will have some of the experience of my live show!
