Metal go getters MURKOCET have got an all new EP titled "Epidemic" with an accompanying single "Rule the Night", leading the way! The band goes into discussion about this single and the EP as well as further plans that stand before them.
1. Would you please introduce your band to our readers who are not aware of your band and music?
The name of our band is Murkocet. We are a 4 piece American metal style band from Phoenix, AZ.
2. Give us a little insight into the formation of the band. When and how did it happen?
The band has been around since roughly 2013. It started as a three piece group trying to make some heavy music and it progressed from there into what it is today.
3. At what age did you guys start playing instruments? Since when are you into metal music?
We all started playing when we were younger, and we've all been into metal for as long as we can remember music.
4. So you recently released your EP "Epidemic", can you tell us about it, take us through the tracks and the lyrics as well, what is the meaning behind it all?
Epidemic is meant to bring along 5 songs and allow our audience to know that it is the beginning of something much greater (the album coming next). It doesn't have much lyrical meaning past the title of the EP. Spiders is about people taking advantage of you and you knowing it but allowing it to happen. (Toxic relationships) Hustlin' Hate is our banger to describe what we do. Rule the Night is about us ruling the night, which is also a song dedicated to our friend's clothing company called "The Best" in which their slogan is "Rule the Night". Fleeting is a song that is used to explain how we sacrifice a lot of our time with our friends and loved ones to chase our dream of music. Burn After Listening is the song to everyone who has something negative to say about us, they will continue to watch us rise and inso facto, burn after listening.
5. How would you say that this EP "Epidemic", plays against your debut album "Digging Mercy's Grave"?
It plays smoothly as the next piece, showing solid growth musically from the band. The overall sound, musical structuring and technicality has taken a dramatic jump.
6. Can you disclose the details behind the video of the track "Rule The Night", for us?
The video is a first person account of a fan that goes to hang out with us for his own VIP experience, where he watches us unleash a "strip club massacre". He then has to die, no witnesses.
7. Will this EP see any other tracks receive this same treatment like "Rule The Night", as far as single releases go?
No.
8. Which bands/ artists do you draw your influences from?
Lamb of God, Slipknot, Parkway Drive, Bleeding Through, After the Burial, a bunch more.
9. What do your songs tend to cover with so many topics out there?
The events that should empower someone, things that most people go through that cause stress and frustration that also show the listener or character within the songs overcoming those events through aggression or violence. They're songs meant to empower.
10. Where does a name like Murkocet come from and even mean for you as a whole?
Richie made it up for his Xbox live name a long time ago. It is now "a substance directly attributed to the aggressive and often times violent actions of its user."
11. Whilst this EP has been out for a while, does the band have any new music already in the works?
Yes.
12. When can we expect to see the band play some shows or go off on tour?
Everything starts October 13th 2018!
13. How else does Murkocet plan to end off 2018 for this year?
Keep writing more and more of the new album, and sell a grip of merch to prepare for the recording process again.
