Eat Sleep Catapult Discusses Excitement for the Upcoming Months!
Pop, rock, quintet Eat Sleep Catapult released their album "Little Did You Know?...." this past summer, with music videos to accompanying it, with even more material expected sometime in the next year, with much more as well. The band got together to discuss the album, themselves, and future plans ahead.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band in its entirety is Rease the singer, Dan and Jacob the guitarists, Tyler is the bassist and Scott is the drummer. We started out in different projects, Dan and Rease come from bands that have toured and played the northeast regions of America. Scott was a drummer who actually quit drumming for a while to pursue a big-boy career. He’s a distributor for Purina Foods and one fateful night at a show, he got the spark to be a drummer again. Jacob is our greenest guy. This is his first band that’s played out, or have done anything serious. Tyler used to work for Wal-mart and left his job to play bass for us. The thing that got us all together, and still baffles us to this day, was a craigslist ad Rease had put out. We jammed for an hour upon meeting and had instant chemistry.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
During the recording process, we had an Air Bnb that we were staying at for the entire 8 days we spent in Springfield, Missouri. As crunch time came down to it we didn’t like our former name that we had, which was “Learning Curve”. So we wrote out a gigantic list of names, any names we could think of and put them on a list. We took everything we had and sat down to find the one that resonated best with all 5 of us. Amongst the names we came down to this one and figured it was the most original name on the list. By the time we finished the album it had grown on us and these three words that didn’t make any sense came to be our band name.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The band is based out of Saint Louis, Missouri. "Murder capital of the USA, baby." Our music scene is nice, but dog eat dog. If you’re not a rapper here, then you’re in a hardcore band with opinions. However, there is EVERY kind of music here in STL and the punk/rock scene is definitely thriving here. Some of our friends are; The Wild & Free, Discrepancies, Inner Outlines and Hard Loss to name a few.
4. How would you describe your style?
A mix of many different late 90’s/early Y2K influences. We get a lot of flak for having a big Blink-182 influence but honestly we don’t think we sound like them at all. We’d describe it as Pop/Punk with some jazz and Latin thrown in.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Our album "Little Did You Know?…" came out in August of 2018, and as of writing this we have two brand new music videos being ready to get released. What to expect is a lot of energy, some silly jokes and a lot of lights and jumping. We pride ourselves and having a good time and making sure every one is having as much fun as we’re having.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Not any that we can talk about. But if we DID talk about it, We’d be releasing it in early 2019.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We decided to take a month off to make more merchandise, create music videos, and get to writing so that we can start doing tours in 2019. We have no tours planned as of yet, but we have a awesome X-mas show to close out the year, happening in our hometown so we’re excited for the upcoming months.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
If at all possible we want to tour supporting Tyler the Creator, and get picked up by a label that can feed us.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to our album and singles on any major streaming service like - but not limited to - Spotify or Apple Music for example. We make our merchandise by hand and to order, same as our CD’s. find us on our Facebook or see us live at a show to pick up our exclusive shirts. We have 5 prints available with some awesome designs!
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
That no matter your race, creed, religion or sexual orientation; We thank you for giving us your precious time. We make this music for anyone in their darkest hour and we want you to know you are never alone and you are loved in this world. Namaste, and thank you for reading.
