Adam Exler – Language Of Love

What better way than honoring your own father, than with a song! That is precisely what singer/songwriter Adam Exler had done for his late stepfather, whom had passed after nearly a 5 year long battle with pancreatic cancer. With that he would take his first single out of this all new project, titling said song "Language Of Love", out of this 11-song project.

It's a little track that is purely sultry and sexy, infused with a dash of Spanish cultured flair. Just lots of catchy tones to it, with rap works featured by J Holla. In short, his styling of this particular project is slightly similar to that of Carlos Santana's styling slightly at least. Thus forth, Adam's style and music choices are very upbeat and rocking in more ways than one. For instance his vocalization is very smooth and rather in-depth with the musical melodies and tone overall. Everything just intertwines with everything else, making it spiral together, into this never ending craft of cunning and captivating music. Like Adam would put it,  "It's a song, you can't get out of your head". That is pretty much how this track works out, and a lot like the other music he has created as well.

In fact, "Language Of Love", not only is a single, but has an accompanying music video to boot. It capturing that same sexy music flair to it. Showcasing Adam finding himself out in a desert landscape, seeing a beautiful female before him, as the scenery changes, to a club setting, unleashing even more craziness. It really just comes together in a way, making it a story that is spicy and unique on so many levels. It just fits so well, that when the track ends, you simply want more of it. It is truly that entertaining.

Sweet N Juicy Talk of Fruits and Music!

Trio band SWEET N' JUICY is a songwriting funky, people pleasing music sort of fellas, whose time together thus far, has made them create as well as play music! This band of fruits, literally, have taken the time to talk about their juicy goodness that is this fruity music!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Sweet N’ Juicy started out like any band of fruit fronted by a bass playing banana that writes most of the music: In a tree! Sweet the banana grew up playing with other bananas but left the jungle in search of different flavors of music. He met Juicy the Strawberry (keyboards) in a patch far away from his home and instantly fell with his fruity flavor. Juicy decided to join Sweet on his adventures for flavor, and they became fast friends- traveling from place to place. On one adventure they met Nefertitipharoahsandramundusifilopolis the Pineapple (drums). They couldn’t pronounce his name, but he was warm and as special pineapples can be, so they wanted to be his friend. N’ Joined in on their adventures and from there the three fruit made their way to Portland, Oregon. There they were the house band in a variety show for quite a while. They met fantastic artists, comedians, and musicians and quickly learned that humans love to party! Now they travel the western coast of the United States in search of the best parties they can find.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

It’s our names, silly!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Sweet N’ Juicy all live in Portland, Oregon! The music scene there has all sorts of fantastic bands and songwriters in any genre you can hope for. Rock, Jazz, a thriving Hip Hop scene, even Bluegrass. Portland has it all. Our friend just down the road is DTW (Funk band with horns), Jessa Campbell and the Saplings (Music for kids), and Sam Densmore (Folk Rock) are awesome.

4. How would you describe your style?

We call it Songwriter Funk in Fruit Suits, but it’s just shake-your-booty party music. Seldom do we write a song that doesn’t make us want to dance, and we think others want to dance too.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We’ve released a debut EP (Golden) and a follow-up full length concept record (The Adventures of Sweet N' Juicy) about how we came to be a band made of fruit. Our music is crafted for a good time and parties, so be expecting to wag your finger and shake your hips!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Of course! We’re always writing new tunes. Our newest song is about Portland and the fun things you can do there. Another song we just finished writing is about puppies!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

It’s funny you mention that! Juicy’s on tour with a group through Central Europe right now which has been giving us time to beef up our calendar for Winter of this year and the first half of next year. As a result we have shows all over the US West Coast, including a tour to Southern California planned for most of February of 2020 (check our calendar for more details). Our shows have been described as “…like cartoons for adults” and we get compared to Looney Tunes a lot. Probably because we have adult humor wrapped up in a fruit-flavored smile!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We are gonna party ‘til we drop! Meeting people, playing shows, and getting people to dance and be happy are our biggest goals for the foreseeable future.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Where can’t you?! Let us know so we can put it there, too! Our website has links to everything, or- and I’m serious about this- PLEASE feel free to reach out to us on our Facebook, Instagram, or email, and chat with us! We love to chat. Partying and chatting are basically the backbone of fruit (since fruit don’t have backbones).

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Have fun- we sure do! We love to play this music for people and we love to party. There’s not much more to it than that. Cheers!

Medusa's Disco's Wynton Discusses Lots of Music and Never Stopping!

Highly energetic, psychedelic rock n' roll band MEDUSA'S DISCO have been at it, releasing 4 full-length albums and 3 EP releases thus far. But not only do they have this content, but all new stuff is in the works as well! These guys plan on rocking, rolling, and just on never stopping! Find out what was said in this discussion with vocalist, guitarist, and sitar Wynton Huddle below!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Wynton: The band has been in existence for 7 years now, 5 years as Medusa's Disco, consistently featuring Wynton Huddle and Hunter Root on lead vocal and guitar duties as well as Alex Aument on drums. Over the last 3 years the band has gone through various bassists until recently falling into a permanent residence with our current thick-string-thumper and wizard engineer, Justin Wohlfeil. Since then things have really started picking up for us, exciting times!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

W: Medusa's Disco started off as a song, being the first track of our 2nd full length "Forked Tongue Fables".

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

W: We are based out of Lancaster, PA. There certainly isn't anything else like us in the music scene. One band we perform with quite frequently, The Stonewall Vessles, might not have a similar sound, but are equals in energy and passion, always making for a powerful bill! We are also happy to see bands like Yam Yam out in Harrisburg get a lot of traction with their recent album and even getting on the billboard charts! Lots of different types of creativity going on around us, and everyone has something different to offer.

4. How would you describe your style?

W: We usually go with High Energy Psychedelic Rock.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

W: As of October 2019 we have released 4 full length albums and 3 EPs, two of which we have kept under wraps for the most part (The Prava Sessions, Live at Max J Variety Show). They might resurface again some day. We also have an acoustic EP with Sitar and violin (Fruit From A Timeless Planet), a very different taste from our usual material!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

W: Always! Thankfully now that we are going steady with Justin on Bass and engineering, we have lots of plans to get material out sooner then later. Some concepts include doing a split EP with Annapolis band Mojo Bozo's Electric Circus, A Live release of our Who cover set from Dam Stock, another full length next fall, and the remixing/remastering of our previous catalog for vinyl.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

W: We plan to hit SXSW March 2020 and hopefully do a west coast tour before the next full length,

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

W: Keep rocking. Keep rolling. Keep growing. Never stop.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

W: Medusa's Disco is on all streaming platforms and you can purchase material goods from our bandcamp and at www.medusasdisco.com.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

W: We are usually complimented on our harmonies, and we always love hearing how personally fans can take our lyrics. To acknowledge we all suffer, go through pain, grow through it and better ourselves, it makes us all feel a little less alone on this rock. And if our music can make someone out there feel a little less alone, then it's all been worth it.

Forest Robots - Times When I Know You'll Watch The Sky

Who would have thought that the four seasons, would mean so much to so many.... including Fran Dominguez and Forest Robots. They have released three full-length albums, their most recent and newest being "Times When I Know You'll Watch The Sky" This all new and third full-length album in two years! But not only does this album come with the accompanying music, but a short film of sorts as well titled "All Things Grow Faint With Great Adorn In Autumn". Fran and the Forest Robot's goal's were all along to build upon the world that they have created as musicians, thus making this world of sound revolving around their releases as these albums.

Now what does this have to do with the four seasons, well the band's first full-length debut album called "Supermoon Moonlight Part 1", celebrated the spring season, whereas the second full-length album titled "Timberline And Mountain Crest" was about the summer season. The third album to date is all about the fall season or autumn to some. It's more or less a representation on Stanley Horowitz's quote about the fall season, saying as such "Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all".

When it comes to this album of material, an array of assorted contented can be heard within, ranging from acoustic to orchestral, synth-wave, ambient and even some IDM sounds from previous albums can all be heard within this newest effort of offerings. It pretty much mixes everything up, adding in a tad more of the synthesizers and acoustics growing a more complex reality of the music at play as it were. It has this enchanting styling of sound to it really. Capturing this essence that is both soothing yet very comforting as well. Take for instance tracks like "Everything Under The Light Of The Full Moon", "Deep In The Milky Way Spectrum", "Of Rivers And Rivers Of Light", with "Follow The Fog And The Rain", it all fits so willingly together, it brings forth this every longing passion of visuals and just everlasting sound waves of tones.

With this album's short film accompanying it, comes the visual concept the interpretation of nature and the transformation effect it just has upon the listener and all of us in general, it has this companionship to it, that makes it just sink in and float.

That is more or less how Fran Dominguez and Forest Robots play out, with their music showcasing abilities and ways with it. If you prefer a more laid back, yet easy going listening experience, with a film to boot, then by all means then this is one act that you need to hear by all ways possible.

New Gigantamax Pokémon Revealed in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo today revealed the Gigantamax forms of Pikachu, Charizard, Eevee, Meowth, and Butterfree. Gigantamaxing changes a Pokémon’s size, power, and appearance and allows them to use a G-Max Move. Only certain species of Pokémon can Gigantamax—and even among such species, only rare specimens will be able to. Gigantamax Pokémon will appear in the highly anticipated upcoming video games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, launching on November 15, 2019, exclusively on Nintendo Switch™ systems.

Gigantamax Pikachu

Type: Electric

Height: 68'11"+

Weight: ???

Ability: Static

The electricity generated in the sacs in its cheeks is stored in its tail. In battle, it will strike opponents with its tail and send a jolt of electricity through them as great as any lightning strike. Gigantamax Pikachu has become so powerful that it can produce enough electricity to rival a power plant. However, using this electricity to help power people’s homes seems difficult, as Pikachu can only remain Gigantamaxed for a short time. Electric-type attacks used by Gigantamax Pikachu will change to G-Max Volt Crash, which not only deals damage but also paralyzes all opponents.

Trainers that have play records from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! on their Nintendo Switch system will be able to receive a special Pikachu that can Gigantamax in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

Gigantamax Charizard

Type: Fire/Flying

Height: 91'10"+

Weight: ???

Ability: Blaze

The flames inside its body have become stronger, and now fire erupts from its mouth and horns in addition to its tail. It seems that the strength of the flames increases when Gigantamax Charizard roars. Charizard’s flames have become enhanced with Gigantamax power and now form wings on its back. These wings are hotter than magma, and Charizard can fire them off to scorch its opponents. Fire-type attacks used by Gigantamax Charizard will change to G-Max Wildfire. G-Max Wildfire doesn’t just deal damage to an opponent when it hits—it will also continue to deal damage for four turns to any Pokémon that isn’t Fire type.

Gigantamax Eevee

Type: Normal

Height: 59'1"+

Weight: ???

Ability: Run Away / Adaptability

The fur around its neck has become extra fluffy and luxurious thanks to Gigantamax power. Any opponent caught in this fur becomes enamored with Eevee and loses the will to fight. Gigantamaxing has caused Eevee to become more rambunctious than ever, and it will attempt to play with any opponent. However, it often ends up crushing its opponent due to its massive size. Normal-type attacks used by Gigantamax Eevee will change to G-Max Cuddle. G-Max Cuddle doesn’t only deal damage when it hits—any opponent that is the opposite gender of Eevee will become infatuated.

Trainers that have play records from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! on their Nintendo Switch system will be able to receive a special Eevee that can Gigantamax in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

Gigantamax Meowth

Type: Normal

Height: 108'3"+

Weight: ???

Ability: Pickup/Technician

Gigantamaxing has caused Meowth’s body to stretch to astounding lengths, and the coin on its head has also become massive. The giant coin can emit a torrent of Gigantamax power, filling the surrounding area with a powerful golden gleam. Meowth loves shiny objects, and when it sees skyscrapers lined with glass, it won’t be able to resist the urge to sharpen its claws on them. This behavior can cause considerable damage, such as wearing down the exterior walls and breaking windows. Normal-type attacks used by Gigantamax Meowth will change to G-Max Gold Rush. G-Max Gold Rush deals damage to opponents and also scatters coins all over the area, giving Trainers a considerable in-game cash bonus after the battle.

This special Meowth that can Gigantamax can be received as an early-purchase bonus for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield by selecting the Get via Internet option in Mystery Gift from Friday, November 15, 2019, to Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

Gigantamax Butterfree

Type: Bug/Flying

Height: 55'9"+

Weight: ???

Ability: Compound Eyes

Its most notable feature is its blinding wings, which have grown to gigantic proportions. The light of Gigantamax Butterfree’s wings comes from its scales, which can inflict paralysis, poisoning, or sleep on its opponents. These scales are Butterfree’s most effective weapons. Its vast wings can stir up a wind strong enough to lift a 10-ton truck, just by flapping. This wind also scatters poisonous scales around the area, so simply being near this Pokémon is very dangerous. Bug-type attacks used by Gigantamax Butterfree will change to G-Max Befuddle. G-Max Befuddle doesn’t only deal damage—it will also scatter scales around opponents and cause them to become poisoned, become paralyzed, or fall asleep.

BabyMetal Sells Out The Forum to Shine Ever Brighter Than Ever!

Japan always knows how to "get you" whenever it comes to anything they produce. In the case of the music community one of their popular acts would be a kawaii metal pop band known as BABYMETAL. Whose formation was back in 2010, nearly 10 years almost come 2020. But before that happens, the band would go on to release a handful of albums, play shows and even tour across the globe. Stopping in of course sunny Southern California a handful of times. My first experience being their stop at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California back in 2017.

It being 2 years since the last and first time seeing then, it would be time to see them again, except in a more wider setting. As their performance would be their first U.S. arena show, it being filmed and shown LIVE across the globe in Japan for one, and for another it being their album release party show as well. Their third full-length "Metal Galaxy" releasing October 11th 2019, so of course the band would do something to collide with the release. As they would do just that, the band would play to a sold out crowd, the entire performance being recorded for a future release on DVD and what not, the band would hit the stage roughly after 9PM. Having an array of fans lining up since the early hours of the morning, 7AM-9AM awaiting to be let inside not until 4-5PM with the band again not performing until roughly 9:15PMish.

After the introduction video was put into effect though, the band would play for a good hour and a half, even do a two song encore at the end. During their performance, there was plenty of crowd interaction with having the fans singing along and screaming with pure delight.  BabyMetal would play a lot of the favorites including “Gimme Chocolate” being the best known track, that got a lot of attention from all there. With other numbers including such as "Megitsune", "Pa Pa Ya!!", "Karate", "Headbangeeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!", and "Road Of Resistance", to name a few. The set list consisting of 14 songs in all with their dancing containing of the "Chosen Dancers", performed by the triangle formation adding one or two selected dancers, on such tracks as 1-4, 9-12, 5-8, and 13-14. It is also worth noting that during the track titled "Kagerou" was a trio performance, not Su-Metal only with the backup band called Kami Band having an intro done.

With all of this said though, the girl trio did a fine job overall. The crowd really enjoyed every minute of it, and by the end of it really, all were just thrilled and excited to be present. This being a performance recorded thus to be enjoyed for many years to come, once it receives its official release. As far as BabyMetal goes, they be Japan’s top hit band, who shall not be forgotten but remembered for a very long time to come.

SETLIST:

1. Da Da Dance
2. Megitsune
3. Elavator Girl
4. Shanti Shanti Shanti
5. Kagerou
6. Starlight
7. Gimme Chocolate!!"
8. Pa Pa Ya!!
9. Distortion
10. Karate
11. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!
12. Road Of Resistance
ENCORE:
13. Shine
14. Arkadia

Black Bolt Says A Whole Lot on Music and Much, Much More!

Mix mashers BLACK BOLT go by a variety of style choices in term's of their music style and sound. Ranging from indie rock, rock n' roll, sludge, punk, to all in-between. In any case though, the band has been around for some time, going on to release a handful of content since, including their newest album titled "The North End" out spring time of 2020! The band goes on further to say a lot more about their music abilities, creativeness and more!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We formed around 2010 or maybe early in 2011 in Boise, Idaho. Kyle, our bassist, had graduated from Boise State University and I (Dustin- guitar/vocals) was almost done with my degree. I missed playing in bands, and Kyle played bass in metalcore bands in his earlier years. So I we started a band, which was just us and a drum machine. We stealthily infiltrated the Communication Building on campus and recorded a single in one of the audio production booths. Then, Justin (drummer) moved back to Boise from Salt Lake City. We asked him to play Real Drums with us and, fortunately, he said yes.

A good friend of ours allowed us to practice in his basement, which he insulated with acoustic foam tiles (the total for the soundproofing project was $666, so we knew we were in the right place). Soon after, our friend Steve unexpectedly asked to join the band on second guitar. Thank God he did. Since then, we’ve recorded some music, played a ton of shows, drank too much, and since starting practicing in an automotive repair shop since our friend sold his house-- $666 worth of acoustic soundproofing foam and all.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Kyle and I are both huge nerds, so it’s just the name of the Marvel Comics character. Black Bolt is king of the Inhumans, who live on the Blue Area of the Moon. He doesn’t often speak because his voice can level mountains, etc, etc. It’s funny because Steve and Justin are not huge nerds, and they have to explain the band name to people more than Kyle and I do.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We live in Boise, ID. The music scene here has ebbs and flows, but overall it’s pretty strong right now. The punk scene isn’t as vibrant as it once was, though. There are some younger people in punk bands doing amazing things, and then a few people around our age doing really cool stuff, too. A few of the people from Boise’s 80's and 90's punk scene are still playing in bands, too, which is incredible. But there’s not all that much of a "punk scene," at least compared to what it used to be.

But, on the flip side, music as a whole is thriving in Boise. There are so many brilliant local bands playing right now in so many different genres, and you can step out most any night of the week and see a great local band at a cool venue. As long as your taste in music isn’t just confined to one style or genre, there’s plenty to love here. Indie rock, psych rock, metal, folk,  synth pop, hip hop, experimental-- it’s all thriving. And I love it so much.

Bands to check out: French Tips, Get Wet +, Dirt Russell, Lounge on Fire, James Plane Wreck, NO!, Nude Oil, The Hand, Buttstuff, Sea’s Apprentice, and Kitten Fight.

4. How would you describe your style?

I’d say we’re a 3-5 chord punk band, but Justin (our drummer) disagrees with me. He tells people we’re a garage rock band or a rock n roll band. We play at about Ramones speed, and maybe have some similarities to bands like Leatherface and Jawbreaker, but we play a lot sludgier than any of those bands. We also try to throw at least one weird or interesting thing in every song-- so we end up having a lot of an "indie rock" type sound, too. And, on occasion, we do play fast and hard… there’s definitely some hardcore lurking around the edges. So I’d say we’re a punk band but, depending on how much of a purist you are, you might call us a garage rock band, an indie rock band, or a garage punk band. Who even knows?

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We’ve released "Falls" (2012), "MBD&B/Like the Bear" (2013), "Comfort of the Grave" (2016),  "2017 EP" (2017), and the single "Claws Out" just recently. We’re currently working on a new record, tentatively titled "The North End," due out in Spring of 2020.

Mostly, we’ve just done EP's and singles. You can find them all on our Bandcamp, Soundcloud, etc. You can expect melancholy, politics, effervescence, dirt, grime, and a party with each of our releases. Oh, and lots of power chords I guess.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We’re currently working on our first full length album, which should be out in the Spring of next year. It will probably be called "The North End." We’ve completed about 8 songs for it so far, with 3-4 more in the works. We’re recording with Andy Agenbroad at the Chop Shop, who also produced and engineered our 2016 EP, "Comfort of the Grave." We just released our first ever music video, which is a song off that album. Here it is -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxCHLd3pQDs.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We play local shows fairly often, but not as often as we used to. Next spring, we’re doing a small little jaunt with our friends Get Wet +, mostly here in the intermountain west. We’ll probably make it out to Portland, Olympia, and/or Spokane, too, but there’s nothing concrete. As far as bands go, we are old and lazy. If anyone wants to take us on tour, though, we’re down.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We’d like to finish this dang record! We’ll have another single out relatively soon, and we’re doing our damnedest do shoot a music video for that one, as well. So be on the lookout for that.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We’re on Bandcamp and Soundcloud, and Spotify. Basically, everything is free or "name your own price." We’re 30-somethings from Boise, ID-we’re obviously not in this for the money.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Even though we’re not musical virtuoso's, we might be an acquired taste. It might be like trying a really strong and strange beer from Eastern Europe for the first time-or even like trying a rural family’s homemade liqueur. It’s gruff, warm, catchy, and a little rough around the edges.

Desoluna Discusses This Band and Other Projects At Hand

Goth, doom, heavy metallers DESOLUNA have a couple of releases under their belts, with more content that should see a release at some point in time. At this time, the band are on a hiatus trying out other stuff, such as projects and what not. The band goes on further to discuss this matter and this band as a whole.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Well it started around 2009 or 2010 when Patrick started Desoluna as his own recording project.
His former band Clapatria had recently split up  and needed some sort of outlet for his creativity and started recording songs at home that became the foundation for Desoluna. But it took another three of four years before it actually became a band when he and I (Nadia) met at a local pub in 2013. At the time, I was looking for musicians who wanted to start a band with me. My only experience at that point was writing and performing acoustic music and tried to either build up or join a couple of bands here and there but that ended in nothing pretty quickly. Once me and Patrick started talking, we discovered that we were trying to achieve the same thing; I was looking for band members, he wanted singers to lay down vocals for his songs. At the time, he wanted to do some sort of Ayreon-thing but obviously, fate wanted different ;). Shortly after, Patrick dragged along his former bass player from Clapatria, Robin, who was also an essential part as the band was taking its form and colour, so to speak, before he quit and was later on replaced by Micael Levin. Both of them had a very distinctive style as Robins “specialty” was within doom metal ( he played with another band at the same time, Stonegriff, a heavily Black Sabbath and Krux-influenced band) while Micael came from a punk rock background. He sang ( or screamed to be precise) in a band back at the 80´s called Snobbslakt who were very active in the local scene in Helsingborg. He quit the band as well as he moved to Spain. Olle, our drummer, has mostly played in a couple of local bands in his hometown Halmstad before he joined us. He was more or less pulled in to our band as we had a couple of livegigs ahead of us and the poor guy only had two weeks to learn our songs. But he nailed it and he has stayed with us ever since. His former band, Inställt, has actually come back to life again wich I think is awesome!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Our band name has various meanings. The first reason is that it´s taken from the name of Patricks first band, Desolate. They were active around between 1997 and 2004 and some of the songs that we have used later on (both when it comes to our first demo and the EP we recently released) were written at that time. So it is safe to say that Patrick is and has always been the creative force of this band. He has written all of our songs. He even put the word “Lun” in the name as a reference to his last name, Lundberg. But then there is another layer in the name. If you break up the name itself, De So Luna, it basically sounds like De Sol y Luna wich means Of Sun and Moon in spanish.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Well, the core of the band, me and Patrick, live in Malmö and Olle is based in Halmstad. I can´t really say that much of the scene of the latter one (Well....they do have Arch Enemy, a very uninteresting band if you ask me) but the scene in Malmö used to be very flourishing once. Very small but growing and with full of potential. I remember about 9-10 years ago when you could go out at nights and there were several clubs and pubs that offered local bands and talents a chance to show off themselves. Every other person you spoke to played in at least one band (mostly hard rock and metal). I wrote music articles for a webzine and the University magazine at that time so I put an extra effort in keeping track of what was going on. All of that is vanishing, one by one and most people that put an effort to keep this scene alive pretty much gets tired of it after a few years. Sweden is suffering under what we call Klubbdöden (“Death of all clubs”). A lot of clubs and arenas, both here in Malmö as the rest of the country, has been forced to close down or struggled to maintain above the surface due to different reasons. It just breaks my heart to witness. However, the punk and hardcore scene is staying strong. My husband-to-be, Johan, is kicking it with his punkband Helvetet ("Hell" in Swedish). They are going to perform their first gig October 12th, which I pretty much look forward to!

Massdistraction, a thrash metal band, released a demo and a first album that were absolutely great and I still beat myself up for not going to their shows when I had the chance! That just sucks! From what I heard, their shows were awesome as fuck and I would have loved to see my boyfriend in action back when he was their singer and their other singer as well, Mikkjal. Both of whom were great singers in their respective right. At the moment there are two bands you should keep an eye out for; Liar Thief Bandit and Grand Harvest.

The latter one just performed their first two shows at Plan B in Malmö. Sadly I missed out on both but I know for a fact that the vocals are killing all competition within the death metal scene. And the music is just plain awesome. LTB is this band you want to listen to if you´re just looking for a good time and just oozes with sweat and rock´n´roll. And Vet Hut! I don´t know if they are local but hell they are good! Lastly, To be honest, Clapatria had really good songs too and would have been a great band if only they had the knowledge and resources to make the band grow. Me and Clara from that band has recorded a couple of songs as well. Occasionally, we get together and play a few tunes.

4. How would you describe your style?

Doom metal with gothic rock influences is the most accurate label. Heavy and melodic.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released our first album, "Fortitude", in October 2015. In July this year, our EP, "Rejection of Rejoice", was released. We did a demo before that as well. There was this journalist who once described our music as "wearing clogs out of concrete, that´s how depressive it is" or something similar. Of course she meant it in a negative sense but what she didn't realize is that we took it as a compliment. That anyone could be so deeply affected by our music and take it this way was just hilarious. So you have it pretty much there!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We just released this EP that took forever to make. We have a couple of songs that we wrote together during the first year that we want to record at some point.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We don´t have any shows planned right now, partly because we don´t have a bass player at the moment. During the recording of the EP, we went through a lot of conflicts and setbacks. We recorded the songs the first time in a studio in Halmstad in 2016 with this guy who completely ripped us off and basically behaved in a very manipulative way. So we had to do it all over again which really drained the energy out of all of us. So we decided to take a break and try out other stuff. It´s like in a relationship when you just have to be apart for a short while in order to find each other again.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As I mentioned above, we´re on a hiatus right now and trying out other stuff. I was briefly in another band called Queens of Borderline but that didn't really work out for me. Olle is drumming in other bands and Patrick just recently became a father so he is focused on his newborn son at the moment. But the plan is at some point record the songs that are just waiting to be developed. If we are lucky, we might find a bass player, and start paying live again, haha!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

It´s not really hard to find us. We are of course on YouTube, Facebook, Spotify and some other channels I just don´t remember at the moment. If you want to buy a copy of Rejection of Rejoice, just send us a pm through Facebook. I know CDBaby has five copies of Fortitude so you can buy the album through that website.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Tough question...Just don´t think so much. Just feel it. And remember that even in the darkest of times there is always a ray of light.

Big River Talk of Music, Plans and Creativeness

British rockers BIG RIVER have been around for a short while, but have already played shows with some well known acts. Including having their works playing across the airwaves in the U.K. Europe and U.S.A. The band has taken the time to talk about their material, music creativity and future plans ahead.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

So we have Joe Martin on drums, Ant Wellman on bass, Damo Fawsett on guitar and Adam Bartholomew on vocals. Joe is an all rounder as well as playing drums in Big River he also plays bass and guitar in various other projects Ant is a bass maestro and for a long time until recently leaving he was also bass player in The Lambrettas. Ant is now part of another project playing Americana music as well. Damo breaths life into Big River. Not only is Damo lead guitar he is also the member of the band who behind the scenes works his socks off sorting gigs, social media, merchandise etc. Damo is responsible for creating Big River from the beginning. Adam is vocalist/lyricist for the band. He is our big man up front who doesn’t pull any punches and sings from the heart.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name Big River came about after all the band members chose different names around the Blues genre theme. Big River seemed rather apt as our first rehearsal was arranged at the Riverside studios Gravesend so Big river stuck.

3.  Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based in Gravesend and Leos Red Lion is sort of our home venue as its where we often rehearse. It has such a rich musical history that it almost feels like it holds a musical spirit within the venue walls. It also is host to other great local bands like Stone wire and The Unknown.

4. How would you describe your style?

We started out playing blues/rock and we were likened to Free, Bad Company, Deep Purple and as time went on we were also likened to bands such as Clutch. All four of these bands are massive influences individually to band members and we think you can take different parts of these bands music and hear it coming through in Big Rivers sound.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have just released our debut album Redemption which is available on all major platforms such as iTunes and Spotify etc. Physical CD's are available from the band themselves and you can contact them through Facebook by typing in Big river blues. The Redemption album has done very well since its release and has some very good reviews including a 9/10 in Powerplay magazine. For someone who didn’t know what sound to expect from Big River all I can say is its blues/rock with balls, gritty vocals and amazing guitar solos.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are currently working on our second album. We wrote a lot of different songs whilst making Redemption so its not like we are hard up for new recordings although we do want our sound to evolve as the album unfolds.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are in negotiations with a lot of event organizers for some great festival slots next year which includes A New Day Festival which Glen Hughes headlined last time. A mini tour is also in the offing which could take in cities such as Newcastle after a very well received support slot for Cats In Space this year. We have one gig left of 2019 and that is an intimate gig in Rochester on November 29th at The Billabong Club with our special guest Kris Dollimore of Del Amitri. Tickets are available from the bands Facebook page.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The plans we have here at Big River is to get our second album recorded and try and get our music out there for as many people to hear. Our passion is playing and writing and that’s what we want to do, just keep creating our style of blues/rock music for our fans to hear and hopefully pick up more fans on the way.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available to download on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp etc. If you like to have that CD in your hand then you can order a copy from the band via Facebook (big river blues) or better still come along to a live show and buy a copy from our merch stall and say hi to the band.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

As a listener of Big River for the first time we would like people to come away thinking these boys can play, these boys can groove and these boys have balls. Listen to the lyrics because behind every song is a meaning and rock out to those amazing guitar solos and funky bass lines if you like blues/rock you will be a fan of Big Rivers individual style of today that harks back to the glory days of the likes of Free and Deep Purple.

Iron Kingdom Release New Album "On the Hunt" And Announce New Tour Dates!

Inspired by legendary pillars of heavy metal such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, The Scorpions, and Rush, IRON KINGDOM is well known for their energetic and electrifying stage presence, as well as intricate musical melodies that bring listeners back to a time when the genre was in its prime.

Now they are back with a new album "On the Hunt" out now! The band adds:

"We’re believing fans can expect the new record to be a lot more traditional in style, more accessible with a lot more rocker tunes, lots of catchy melodies and speed metal riffs, shorter songs, more packed with action, as opposed to the previous album with long epic passages. We wanted this record to include lots of great live tunes we can carry in our set for years to come!"

The nine new tracks are fun tunes that translate well into a live setting, which is paramount for IRON KINGDOM who take great pride in their live show. Fans of the classic including Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, and Helloween will revel in IRON KINGDOM who put a modern spin on traditional heavy metal.
