Irish 4 piece band PERALIS have been hard at work releasing an assortment of singles, all leading to the release of their debut EP. Shows are in the works as well in the next couple of months, with so much more content as possible it's such an exciting year for them indeed. Find out about all the joy from the band's chat below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Peralis comprises of members from three successful Irish Heavy Rock/Metal bands ‘Kerouac’, ‘Marabou’ and ‘Syllian Rayle’. With our years of experience, high intensity live shows and critically acclaimed releases during our time spent in the aforementioned bands we have been lucky enough to hit the ground running. Peralis spent the last few months writing songs and shaping a sound that will keep fans of Keroauc, Marabou and Ritual Effect very, very happy but the new expansion in sound scape will open the doors to new further reaching audiences. On Vocals and lead guitar we have Ren Marabou formally Kerouac and Marabou, also on vocals and guitar we also have AJ Peralis, bass we have Kalebh Grocock formally Marabou and on drums we have Moe Curtin formally Syllian Rayle.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The story behind the band name is a simple one yet not one you’d usually expect to hear from a Metal band. I was on tour in Spain with a previous band of mine called Kerouac. I was in a little coffee shop and on comes this song with a lovely Spanish guitar intro, I asked the guy at the till ‘who is that playing? ‘Jose Luis Perales’, ‘A very famous Spanish singer’ he said. The name Perales always stuck in my mind so years later when we were brain storming names for the band Perales was on the list, I discovered then that an alternative spelling was Peralis and the rest is history. (Ren Marabou)
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are an Irish band. Half of the band are based in Dublin where we rehearse, and the other half are up the top of the country in the lovely Donegal. There are great music scenes everywhere you look in Ireland and the talent is immense. Every scene has extremely talented musicians. Our brothers in ‘Tapped’ are definitely a band you should check out and on the heavier side of things check out our bro’s in Ritual Effect and Crossfire.
4. How would you describe your style?
Pulling influence from all rock and metal genres the Peralis sounds is heavy yet dynamic and melodic. We love a good riff and a heavy groove.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Our debut release is set for the end of January 2020 via BMJ Records UK. We are releasing a double A-Side single ‘Primal Self’ and ‘Contort, Thrive, Survive’. Both songs will be released with official music videos and will be available on all major platforms, Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon Music, YouTube(Ren Marabou Channel) etc.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
After the release of our upcoming singles we will start preparing for the studio to begin work on our debut EP. We are planning a summer release and are very much looking forward to filming more music videos for some of the tracks on the EP.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have some exciting shows in the coming months that we can’t wait for some of which are Fibber Magees Dublin on the 16th of March, Iron Mountain Festival Leitrim 1st of May and Swell Festival May 3rd Aranmore Island.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
The tale end of 2019 was an amazing time for the band with an enormous amount of support from people in the industry and our ever-growing fan base which we are very grateful for. Now in 2020 we plan to give back to our supporters with as many shows, releases and content as possible. It’s gonna be an exciting year in the Peralis camp.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
At the moment you can check us out on Facebook and the Ren Marabou YouTube Channel but by the end of January 2020 you’ll be able to find our music on all major platforms and from our own website.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
As a band we write what it is we would like to hear from the lyrics to the instrumentation. It is important to us that while listening to our songs people experience emotions that will make them want to listen back time and time again. We would love our first time listeners to remember the honesty, determination, grit and energy that we try to convey through our music. Also we’d like them to remember some wicked hooks as they realize that we are their new favorite band.
