Undefeated Discusses Themselves and the Music Coming Forth Really Soon!
Mixer-upers UNDEFEATED have taken the likes of using hard rock and heavy metal to make worthy listening music, that may include an occasional ballad. But aside from their genre choices, the band has released a music video single titled "Shadows", with more all new music in the works currently. Plans are also ready in terms of playing some shows as well! Find out just what else is in-store from these up and comers from the discussion below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Undefeated was formed August 5th, 2017. Meredith Dunckel (Vocals/Guitar) and Christian Dunckel (Drums) teamed up to provide some summer tunes on the front lawn of a bookstore. Three months later they met bassist Ian Birk by happenstance through friends.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
We were driving back from playing at the annual Rock N Worship Festival in Dalton, MA. We straight up ripped the name off of the rap song Undefeated by KB.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are NOT a garage band, but we are based out of the back room of the first floor in our parent’s house. Yes, it’s a 10 x 10 room with a full-on drum set, amps, etc. Needless to say, the acoustics are, well, deafening. Oh, you meant what town? We hail from Lewis County, NY (About 45 minutes south of the Canadian border). Most of the music scene here occurs in bars. There are plenty of local musicians to go around! Mainly country/classic rock covers; with an annual bluegrass festival. There have been some fantastic old-time fiddlers here as well!
4. How would you describe your style?
Booming bass, war-like drums, and a lil bit o’ glitter. We’re not afraid to tackle a Lacey Sturm or Lauren Daigle cover. We started with a classic contemporary sound, but that didn’t satisfy us. Bringing in our metalhead drummer brought a whole lot of fun. Now our sets include hard rock/borderline metal with the occasional ballad.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Our first music video, Shadows, just reached 1,000 views on YouTube! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62xRoCrGHRg) Completely directed, filmed, and edited by us! It was a huge accomplishment, and great start, for our first single. Now that we have this first video under our belt, it seems we are never satisfied. We’ve barely finished with a project, and we’re already seeing where it could have gone. That feeling sends us off and running again!
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
YES! Songs are flying off my paper, breakdowns are in the works.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
A lot of local venues have been opening up to us, we’ve started bringing in other acts and bands from upstate NY. We continue to be booked at smaller venues around the Northeast. We would LOVE to tour (what band wouldn’t?!)! Meanwhile, we’re enjoying growth.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Our band has been booked almost 100% through word-of-mouth. This is the first year we will begin actively marketing. Looking for bigger venues and small tours! We’re releasing a follow up ballad to Shadows in the coming months. Three more songs to follow this year to finish up our first EP!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Listen and buy on any music platform! Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play, YouTube, etc. We have travel vlogs/entertainment videos out on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrXWbsn9Ey3ft62D4zVSStA). Look for Christian’s donuts…RIP.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Intense lyrics, thundering drums, iconic bass, and good ol’ fashioned glitz.
