March 2020

Post punk, punk rock band UGLY CLINIC have been around for a short while, releasing two single's, with an album in the works! Expect much more from this up and coming band, whose time together is barely starting..... See the chat below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Ugly Clinic was originally started by Davie (Bass player) and Pete (Guitarist) a little over a year ago. They are the most experienced (old fuckers) of the band and had played together previously in a punk covers band back in the early 2000’s. Since then Davie had came up with a few original songs and approached Pete to work on them with him and start a band with the material. They went through a few members before the drummer at the time approached Richard (guitarist) about joining and becoming the second guitarist in the band they’d been looking for. Richard got on board and implemented his classic rock style of guitar playing in with the Punk songs that were already written. The drummer then left and with the power of social media we found Jed (Drummer). The four of us quickly gelled together, with the style and songs that we were creating. We set off to do a few gigs but knew we were missing one key element in the band, a vocalist that could sing our material a lot better than what we were doing! Richard, working as a soundman for a local pub saw Chloe (Vocalist) perform in one of her cover bands and was instantly sold that she needed to be the singer and front woman of the band. Chloe instantly fell in love with the songs thus, Ugly Clinic was complete. 9 months later and we’ve played a good chunk of gigs, grown a loyal fan base, recorded our debut album and already started working on album number two!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

When it came to naming the band, at the time it was just Pete, Davie, Richard and Jed in the band. We all went away to try come up with different names. Pete being a bit of a comic book buff came up with Ugly Clinic from a Judge Dredd comic book and we were all instantly sold on it when we all brought our suggestions to the table.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The majority of the band come from Aberdeenshire in the North East of Scotland but the majority of the gigs we’ve played have been in the city of Aberdeen. The music scene up here is great. There are so many fantastic bands up in this corner of the UK, far too many to name. But as far as recommendations go, our guitarist Richard compiled a playlist on Spotify of a crap tonne of bands from the Aberdeen and surrounding area. If you go onto the Ugly Clinic Spotify page, we’ve added the playlist onto our ‘Artist Playlist’ section, hoping that any visitors to our page would go onto it and check out the other fantastic bands this area has to offer.

4. How would you describe your style?

A multi-generational fusion of punk and rock, mixed together in an Ugly cup! The original idea of Ugly Clinic was for it to be a purely punk band, but once the different ages and styles of the members mixed, we have a band, where at the roots still has the Punk to it, but has an eclectic rock feel to it as well.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we have released two singles. Our debut single ‘Just So You Know’ and our latest single ‘Pink Speed and Tequila’. When it comes to our music we aim to have our songs stuck in your head until you have no option but to back and listen again and again. No matter the song, you won’t be able to not bop your head or tap your feet to.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

The two singles we’ve released so far are part of an album that we have recorded and over time we will be releasing the songs one by one. Not too quickly though as we want you feeling the need for more and more. But while we release this first batch of songs, we are already working on album No.2 which we are hoping to get started recording by the end of this year.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

As we’ve only been together as this complete line up for only 9 months, we are still at the stage of getting our music spread out over the country as much as possible. Unfortunately with the Coronavirus, we, like every other band out there have had our shows put on hold. We had planned a few fantastic support slots for touring bands at Krakatoa, Aberdeen and also a headline gig of our own at the Old School House in Hull. We are hoping that once all this blows over we can get back on track, rescheduling our gigs. Maybe even making our trip to Hull part of a mini tour would be great!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We are all determined to make this band be as successful as we can make it. We are going to continue to work hard at writing and releasing new material and gigging as much as we physically can, spreading our music to as much people as we can. Again, once the coronavirus all blows over we’re gonna go hard at it picking up where we left off!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Any streaming or download platform you can think of and we are on there. Whichever streaming platform you prefer, just type in Ugly Clinic and we’ll be there! Also follow us on Facebook,com/UglyClinic to know when we're about to drop a new track.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We’d like new listeners to our music to have a good time with our music. Stick the songs on, crank them up loud and have a blast with them. And remember that there's gonna be a lot more to come!

Alternative, punk, post punk band TELEVISION SUPERVISION have their album out called "Waldo", with newer music in the works! Expected shows are follow as well as more plans, as everything slowly goes as it is planned. For now though, the band goes onto further discussion about how they came to be, their music and more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Zach Grant (Bass/backup vocals) and I met while we were in high school. We were both actually skipping class at the time. I was a Senior and he was a Freshman. I was in the school’s music room playing a song on my guitar. Zach walked by, saw me, picked up a bass, plugged in, and started playing along. Didn’t say a word. That moment led to us writing songs, starting a band, meeting our drummer Cody Rains at a show in Orlando, and ultimate tee my getting signed to Standby Records.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

When we were still in high school, I accidentally hit zach in the head with a guitar. We subsequently called ourselves “Accident”. Then briefly after that almost switched to “Boy Scout” then decided on “Officer Down!” Though due to someone else having this we then discussed about 300 new names. All of the names we came up that we liked we would put into a tier-system based on how good they were..lol they were placed into “song names, album names, and possible band names”. We ultimately decided on “Television Supervision”. We actually get heat for this name too lol we’ve had people say it’s fucked up and too complicated to say..it’s two words! Also hey we’ll take it, plenty of bands with messed up names-maybe it’ll make them remember us!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Tampa Bay region, namely the Clearwater/Dunedin/Tarpon Springs areas.

4. How would you describe your style?

Honestly, we don’t fit ourselves into a particular style. Though our music would definitely fall under the large umbrella of rock music we are each heavily influenced by so many different genres, some not even touching rock. While rock lives in each of us, Cody tends to be on the heavier side while also loving rap and country. Zach’s soul is based in the pure punk and emo scenes while I am more on the pop, rock, and country sides of music going all the way back to the 70s. Having each of us with our hands in different spectrums led us to wanting to write songs of all genres, not just one. We believe this is what has set us apart from the every day band.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We just released our debut album, "Waldo", in January through our label Standby Records. The LP is true to the full-length stigma as it contains 14 tracks. We’ve been met with reviews that have really made us even more proud of this record than we initially were. Our goal in the construction of the album was to have just one song for every person to like-maybe they don’t like a straightforward, fast rock song and would rather have a light, easy, less-distorted track..maybe they want something heavier/darker, or maybe they love the new modern wave of pop songs..there’s a song for everyone and we know that goal has been realized due to the immediate feedback. It has been truly relieving honestly. We didn’t know how our concept would be received. Nobody has done this.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We do! In the immediate release of "Waldo" we realize that we have to keep up with today’s trends, which is to pump out tracks to stay relevant. Now, with a band we have to make sure we’re not releasing a bunch B-sides, we are very diligent in what we put together so the road is gonna be quite arduous but worth it. Fans of ours across the world can expect new music this summer.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have done several tours in the United States. Our goal like many bands has to been to get over to Europe and we had this mapped out prior to the Corona outbreak. We will find a way though. Adapt or die.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As alluded to prior we have set a plan going forward for new music and music  videos, the latter of which we are kind of known for at this point! So we’re really excited about this. Our tours will pick up when the Earth gets back to normal.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We are on every streaming outlet you can think of. We also have our official merch site where you can grab all things Television Supervision!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We try our best to illustrate the energy we have when we perform through our music and videos and we we believe that’s what really helps us stand out.

Pop punks THE MODEL YOUTH are working upon their next full-length album, having already released an EP of sorts thus far into their short career span. For the remainder, the band plans on touring in the summer and fall, with releasing all new content as well. Find out what else the band had to talk about, as far as music goes below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band started with just Adam back in 2012 and he sat on the name of the band and the idea for several years just waiting for the right moment and right line up. In about 2017, a group of guys came together to form what the line up used to be. Andre joined the band about a year ago after the previous lead left the band for college. Riley (our drummer) joined just after that and finally Adam, the other Adam…. Joined a few months ago after our first rhythm guitarist left, again for college.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Adam our lead singer, was sitting on a plane in 2012 and the guy sitting next time him was chatting and he said something about “the model youth” referring to the kids nowadays but the term stuck.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The pop punk scene used to be a lot better but over years has sorta died down. Surf punk is really popular right now. We really like jamming with the Aquadolls, suburban park, ten till dawn, and a few others.

4. How would you describe your style?

Its a earlier pop punk sound, going a little more poppy but for the most part our sound changes a little per song.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We've released an EP on all streaming platforms. Go check it out!!!! We got alot more coming soon!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

YA! Were currently writing and recording a full length album. No set release date so far.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We has a bunch of shows lined up but due to the corona virus destroying humanity, all live shows have been cancelled for now.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We were really looking forward to touring this summer but mainly now its just online releases and trying to keep audience engagement.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Were on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple music, iTunes. Whatever you want!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

This is what we love doing, writing, recording, and playing music. No matter what the subject matter is we have a great time doing this. So have fun with us!

Rock trio HOPOUT have been writing and recording music together since just a few years ago. But since then, they have released an EP, along with more songs being written right now! More stuff is in the works, whilst the band continues to build upon what is already made since their formation. Discover what else the band had to discuss about music and more below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Hopout is comprised of Alex Gibson, Nick Zimmerman, and Tyler Raihl.  We all began playing music at a young age, accumulating roughly fifty three years of musical experience between the three of us.  Alex and Tyler met on a high school drum line, with Tyler meeting Nick toward the end of high school.  The three of us began playing music together in 2013 and have been in multiple projects, with Hopout forming in the summer of 2016.  From there we have released an EP and a full length album, as well as touring and supporting acts including Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Less than Jake, and The Toasters.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

There's a long story to that, suffice to say it is a joke at the expense of a bandmate from a prior project.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of Pensacola Florida.  The underground/rock scene here is very close knit and DIY, as pensacola is primarily a country and blues scene with mostly cover bands.  Some standout local bands include Vagrants, Feed Lemon, Rise Up Lights, Brave New World, Glazed Eyes, and Luckily I’m the Hunter.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style would best be described as Alt Rock.  We draw influence from jazz, prog, punk, metal, post hardcore, blues-really our sound is all over the place but somehow cohesive.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released the EP “Hop into Hopout” in 2017 and we just released our full length “Some Assemble Acquired” in Jan 2020.  The sound of “Hop into Hopout” is much more raw and punk inspired, where “Some Assembly Acquired” definitely has a more refined, mature sound.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes! While we are not planning on any full length releases anytime soon we are working on a few songs right now and the plan is to put them out as they’re finished.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Nothing set in stone but there is some stuff in there works. Follow our Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/hopouttheband/ for updates.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

For now our plan is to keep writing music and playing shows while building our online presence.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available on Spotify and most streaming services, and we have two music videos on our YouTube channel.  We do sell merchandise at our shows, and we have plans to start an online store which will first be announced on our Instagram @hopout_theband.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The name of the song so they can listen to it again!

Gothic rock band CATHEDRAL IN FLAMES has been around for a while now, releasing a debut album, with more music coming soon! Expect even more spectacular shows to follow as well! Find out what else the band had to say about themselves.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band.

Once upon a time in Eastern Europe… Two friends, Phil Lee Fall and Gatsby, influenced by bands like The Sisters of Mercy, Fields Of The Nephilim, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division, came together and formed a gothic rock band in the purest form of this style.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

There is nothing more beautiful than cathedral. And there is nothing more depressive to see it burn.

3. What about the members of the band?

Phil Lee Fall is the vocalist and lyricist, Gatsby is composer and takes care of bass and programming. They are at the moment joined by angel voice of Ambra von Bernstein and punk guitarist Billac de Ville.

4. How would you describe your style?

Gothic rock for the 21st century.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Our debut album Children Of The Blackest Hole have just been released. So if you like male baritone growling, post punk bass deep as Leviathan and pompous melodies, check it out.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are already working on next album called Desperado.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Out last concert took place in demolished church of St. Martin in the Old town of Prague. Due to our show with massive sound, torches and smoke it was even visited by the local police and we were asked to stop the show. No way! So the show was afterwards voted as one of the top gigs of the year in the main czech music magazine Rock&Pop. Our every concert have to be THE EVENT for our fans. So our next show will be even more spectacular.

8. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find our music on all digital platforms as Spotify, iTunes, Google Play, Apple Music, Bandcamp, YouTube and many others. For the vinyl release, we recommend www.bontonland.cz.

9. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We are the goths. We are the gods. We are the Cathedral In Flames.

Metal go getters SENTINAL COMPLEX infused with aggression, modernized electronic elements with traditional concepts of orchestration, have released two album's, single's, with newer single's and an EP coming up soon. Figuring out what to do next, when it comes to shows and more music is all in the plans between now the rest of this year! Find out what more was discussed below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We started making music together for a few indie game/ film projects in 2014, and after some time and realizing we had a connection we started writing music for ourselves under our original name - Nova Prospect. In 2016 we re-branded under the name Sentinel Complex and have been honing our sound and style ever since.

2. What´s the origin of the band´s name?

This kind of follows on from the first point, we basically realized we couldn't use the name Nova Prospect without getting into some legal trouble so we thought we would change that as soon as possible! It took us a good few inspirational sessions to come up with the name Sentinel Complex, but we thought that this was the name that felt the most fitting with our vision for the band and the lore within our music.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in the coastal town of Bournemouth at the very bottom of the UK, and the music scene around here is.. er.. lacking at best! Don't get me wrong we know a few great local acts around here but honestly other than a couple of venues there isn't really a whole lot ever going on down here. A lot of bands and artists - especially the younger ones - tend to claim Southampton or other south coast locations as their hometown because generally speaking they have a higher concentration of creative people. Personally, we recommend Miseria Hallows, Dresden or Deadshopboy$.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is basically designed around what we love most - cyberpunk and horror! Think Blade Runner meets mechanical Cloverfield with a sprinkling of War Of The Worlds. Our overarching lore essentially tells the story of a battle between man and machine, planet(s) defending themselves against a "higher power", and the religious aspects surrounding this. Neither of us are religious, we just find it a very interesting topic when it comes to dystonia and the future of man.
Our music started off as video game score, so you only have to listen to our early work to get an idea of the choices we made towards the end of the game-score life cycle.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released two studio albums and a number of singles, but honestly through a lot of these releases there was a lot of testing of what works and what doesn't when it comes to our band and it's sound. After learning a lot through our last few releases though we have really closed in on our goal.
As the huge metal fans that we love writing heavy riffs and drum beats but we incorporate a lot of electronic/industrial elements into our songs too. Sometimes they are even fully electronic, so if you like the mix of both you're sure to find something you'll like. We think 2020 though has a lot in store for fans and new listeners of ours. We dropped a new single called Demise Of The Faithful recently and that’s been one of our most well received original songs, so expect more grungy electronic industrial metal to come.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

For a start we are currently working on our newest project which we are really proud of, and we are going to be dropping singles on a regular basis this year and have a full EP planned too so keep your eyes out for that! We like to switch up our release methods every now and again to keep people on their toes, so expect to see more of us later this year once we have these tracks nice and polished.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Currently we aren't playing any shows. Having only two of us in the band, there's a lot of work! We do have plans to do some shows in the future though, there are just a few things that we have to figure out first. There’s a lot of things essential to a live show we need to organize before we can fully commit to live performances, but it is definitely on the agenda!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The band started out as us just making music for fun, and that is really the main motive for us. We are always grateful for the fact that people actually like what we do and want more of it! We are working on getting new music out there at more of a consistent rate however which ties into what we are working on at the moment. Bigger things will be and currently are in the works, and shows and tours will hopefully become a reality in the future. We love working with other bands too and are always happy to do collab projects!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Basically any streaming service you can imagine, we are on there. So whatever your preference in that regard, go for it! Everything is also on our website over at www.sentinelcomplex.co.uk.

10. What is it you´d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

As a new listener, we would love for people to see the striking imagery, hear the sounds we have created and hopefully have it stick with them. Sometimes it can be hard for people to really get into what we do and we appreciate that, especially if they are into only one of the genre types we like to write rather than multiple. But we’d love for people to at least think it’s good music, regardless of the genre!

Hard rockin heavy duty band HEARTS & HAND GRENADES have a couple of EP's out, with an all new EP out this summer! Some shows are set with perhaps a tour to fall into place soon. For now, the band goes into talks, about how they came about, their music, and more plans in-store.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Hearts & Hand Grenades was formed at the beginning of 2019. Lead Vocalist/Bassist Stephanie Wlosinski and guitarist/keyboardist Mike Bress were performing at a local telethon for kids with the Goo Goo Dolls, where Robby Takac listened in on our set. Afterwards, he asked us to come down to his studio ‘GCR’ in Buffalo and get our music recorded. We then approached Lead Guitarist Kenny Blesy and Drummer Tom Lafferty to complete the lineup. Both of these guys have been playing in the cover music scene for a number of years and we felt they would be the perfect addition to the band. The rest is History!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The Band name was created by Stephanie Wlosinski. She wanted a band name that would represent something with a sweet and sour vibe or perhaps a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde feel. This is very representative of the lyrical content in the songs as well.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of Buffalo, NY. The music scene in Buffalo is dominated by the cover music scene. There are very few venues in Buffalo where original music is the niche.

4. How would you describe your style?

I believe the best way to describe our music would be to say it is traditional rock music. With a lot of our music, you get that good old fashion palm muted power rock feel along with those deep meaningful lyrics. We believe there is a demand for this type of music and we are hoping to fill the void.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Up to this point, we’ve release two EP’s. ‘Wait’ our first EP was released July 17th 2019 and our second EP ‘Nothing Left’ was released on December 9th, 2019. The music is quite diverse in that some of the songs are straight up hard rock while others might have a pop/punk feel or an alternative vibe. The lyrics are very deep in meaning and each song tells a unique story.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our third EP ‘Adrenaline’ is scheduled to be released May 1st, 2020. This EP is a little on the heavier side of Rock music. The EP will consist of four songs just like the other two releases and is full of head banging/fist in the air type songs.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have a CD release party scheduled for May 6th, 2020. We also have a few other local shows spread across the summer months at this point. As for as a tour goes, we are currently looking at putting something together and hopefully in the next couple months we can make announcement regarding a tour.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The band is about to start working on the second full album. We are going to keep pushing the music out there for everyone to hear and hopefully get on a tour soon to bring the music outside of Buffalo for everyone to enjoy it live. The future is looking bright for the band currently.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our Music is available on all digital streaming platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, Deezer, Soundcloud etc. The songs are also available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, etc.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We have poured every ounce of our creative energies into this music and know that our listeners will also hear that in our music. Perhaps one of our lyrical stories will even apply to you! Keep on listening and follow us on our social media platforms.

Hard rockers THE KILLERHERTZ have been around for a while, releasing two album's with an EP follow-up due this early summer time. Shows will follow of course, with more music also incoming as well. Find out what the band had to say about themselves and their music below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We started back in 2011 rehearsing once a week on borrowed instruments - we were childhood friends who have had a break from the music scene due to family and kids…we came from different bands, such as Saturnus, Pitch Black and Morbid Vision, meaning we mostly played trash and death metal. But after a few years break we were eager to start a band together - and in the rock genre instead. There are only two members left from the starting period, Thomas Trold and Kent KillerHertz. The two new spots are now filled in with Jonas Roxx on lead guitar and Jakob Nielsen on bass.

2. What´s the origin of the band´s name?

Thomas Trold and our former member Tais came up with the name one night, after been searching for a suitable name through different types of media.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We were in a privilege, because a lot of us back then wanted to play instruments and wanted to be the next big Rockstar (growing up with MTV) - so we had a large network of musicians in our local city (Kastrup). And with Copenhagen a few miles away, we had some pretty good opportunities to attend the smaller stages, with a larger audience. It was easier back then getting a gig - the scene today needs a bit more work getting a deal for a gig, and with fewer money to the bands. Local bands could be Wasted, Iron Fire, Saturnus, Pitch Black to mention a few.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is hard rock with inspirations from bands such as Megadeth, Metallica and Volbeat.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have two full album releases - A Killer Anthem in 2014 and Mirrors Portrait in 2017. We have an EP album release this year in May called Innocent Sinners. You can expect a different sound compared to our two former releases. We have lifted our own barrier according to the writing and the compositions of the new numbers. We have a solid line-up, which hopefully can push the barrier even further.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have made four new numbers - well three new ones and a cover song from an old and very popular Danish band called Danseorkestret.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are planning concerts this summer, with an old Danish band called Wasted. The schedule is still in the making.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We are producing music videos at the moment - with four video releases within a month and a half of each other, which means releases in January, March, May and June. At the same time, we will release an EP album in May. Concerts is schedule to begin this summer, and hopefully a gig or two abroad.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can always buy our cd´s and other merch through The KillerHertz Facebook page - and our music on digital platforms as The KillerHertz Spotify-page, Deezer, Google Play etc.

10. What is it you´d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Our catchy chorus - tight beats and hopefully remembering the tunes afterwards

Experimental band PAIN have an album out titled "Cycle Of Hate", with even all new music in the works currently. No plans on playing any shows or touring just yet though. For the time being, the band will continue to write and record music between now into the rest of this year. Find out what else the band talks about, in regards to this album and more below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Pain was started as a solo project from the remains of my band called Third Eye Destruction.
The band started when two friends Kartik (Drummer from Dark Moon Eternity) and Deepanshu Bhoj (Lead Guitarist from Tapasya) decided to start an experimental metal band with no bounds or limits in the composition process. We wanted to create something that we liked to compose and play than to create something commercial that everyone would like. After composing the first 4 official songs including “Feed Humans Not God” we were joined by Abhishek Balooni on vocals, Atishay Jain on bass and Tanishq Kumar on rhythm guitar who were intrigued by what we were doing and wanted to be a part of it. This led to what Pain is today and even if some members are not here the dream lives on through this project and a lot is yet to come.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Pain is a concept that we as humans share the pain and the sky together, so I wanted to unite this pain, the sky we all share through music. Which lead to the band being called Pain and the title track called cycle of hate because in today’s times you can see that people sometimes hurt other people   because someone did the same to them. It can be intentional or unintentional but its happening and the cycle of hate continues there is no stop to it because certain people don’t know.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of New Delhi, India and the music scene in India isn’t great for new rising talents or local bands. It’s more for popular international bands or cover bands, forget about earning bread and butter out of it. The most unique local band I came across was Tapasya, they had great original compositions and inspired me to create better music. I don’t specifically like any other band from the local scene as I don’t like their original compositions.

4. How would you describe your style?

Boring but our sound is different and intriguing in many ways. Expect the unexpected as our songs are not based on conventional song patterns or structure. It’s technical yet melodic at the same time with a little touch of madness!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released an album last year called “Cycle of Hate” in December 2019 across all major streaming platforms and a music video. We have over 60,000 streams with an overwhelmingly positive response. I back in high school would have never expected all this to happen even if I know I was working hard towards it all my life. I am 25 now and I swear it feels great to hear such good things now as we didn’t have the technology or resources for any form of exposure at all.  Expect the unexpected as our songs are not based on conventional song patterns or structure. It’s technical yet melodic at the same time with a little touch of madness!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, I am working on a single, currently, it has been arranged and composed. In the summer, I will collaborate with musicians across the globe to bring this song to life.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

No, not anytime soon. With the feedback I have got on my music I would like to take it in for the time being before rushing anything I am working on a single, currently it has been arranged and composed. In the summer, I will collaborate with musicians across the globe to bring this song to life

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

The plan is to keep composing and releasing music as I always loved composing more than anything else. Right now, I am doing Digital Marketing and analytics and the plan is to support and help the future generations of metal bands to get exposure and support which was not there for us.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to our band on all major streaming platforms like Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, YouTube, etc. You can buy the physical album online on the CD baby store for artists or buy the digital copy online on iTunes, google play, etc.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I would like the listeners to know that this music was composed by self-taught teenagers who worked hard but got the exposure almost a decade later.

Alternative up and comer Luis Mojica has released his latest album yet titled "How A Stranger Is Made". This album being a following of sorts, a journey if you will, that goes deep into the depths and parts of his mind and heart. Him facing and transforming unresolved pain into the bliss and freedom that he so longs for, is within the 10-tracks of this release.

With that, you get the opening track titled "Insane", detailing the expressions of loss, pain, and struggle. The melodies within is catchy but also upbeat, offering a smooth jazz aspect, with piano work's that keeps the tones in check, yet very melodramatic. A lot of the tracks following said opener, such as "Invoked", "With Love", and "Stranger Song", each provide this same type of aspect. A fusion of pop meets alternative, think the pop artist named Mika for instance. That is what is happening with Luis.

There is just so much energy, angst, and progression within the material here. A lot of driven force, that keeps the music very meaningful yet fulfilling as well. It’s as if the vocal chords, send chill’s down your body into the inner self that is your soul. Lots of momentum through and through really. The music is captivating as it is whole.

The remainder of the album, is filled with other tracks that fall along the same alignment as the one’s already mentioned prior. Same type of energy thrown together, giving off similarities that will make you wanting more. How the voice and instrumentals work together is so classy it makes the music pop-out even more so. Hearing each of the tracks play on through, makes the material seem longer yet it goes quickly, easily wanting you to hit repeat on the entire thing.

Luis Mojica’s latest album that is “How A Stranger Is Made”, is simply put vivid. He has talent and it is shown beautifully within this release. His previous and perhaps future works, being just as talented as this one is, except better perhaps.

Goth, dark wave, post punk, electronica band THE VENUS FLY TRAP have been around for sometime now, releasing content over time of course. More music is on the way, with shows in the works as well. The band goes on to say a lot in regards to their time together over the years.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We first formed in 1986...so the line up has fluctuated/changed over the years...the members are at the moment and has been for a few years Alex Novak-vox and Andy Denton-guitar/programming, Andy was the drummer at one time...its been part of vfts dna, change brings in different influences and ideas.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I liked the idea of a plant that eats insects...plus all the connections with mythology (venus the goddess of love), and the planets like venus and mars, science fiction, plenty of room for images and inspiration.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in Northampton (home of Bauhaus and Alan Moore), current bands/artists causing a stir from the locale include slowthai, ginger snaps, phantom isle (now based in London), spring park, temples, barratts, keepers etc....some good independent live venues black prince, lab, garibaldi and for bigger bands road mender.

4. How would you describe your style?

Post-punk electronica..."bladerunner rock n roll wearing dark acidic shades" is a good quote...think joy division/doors/chemical brothers...you will be getting into the right area.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have done eight albums over the years..the most recent icon came out last year on glass modern.
Its always been an eclectic mix of influences on our music...but if you like your dark electronica we could be the ones for you.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We're trying to create music for imaginary films in your mind...would really like to have a track on a Tarantino movie soundtrack. We do albums that need to be listened from beginning to end...take the listener on a sonic outing over the hills and far away...

Dealing with issues since forming back in 2013, nu-metal, post grunge/metalcore band DIALEKT want to keep going. Releasing already a handful of tracks as it is, with an all new song coming soon. Shows are shattered but will commence within the next several months or so. Discover what more was said from the band below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Mat: I have joined Dialekt in 2016 as introduced to the Mariano by my colleague from work. They have been looking for bassist and even though I have been a guitar player I have recently bought a bass from my friend and thought I can give it a shot. It was completely different set up back then and we have changed all of the members since, but me and Mariano has been consistent ever since and the band started to shape up, composing recording and playing in local pubs and venues.

Matt: I joined the band in April 2017. Alongside Mariano and Mat, was drummer Dom Kuzniar. It was a real shame he had to leave but family pressures etc just made it impossible for him. After that we’ve auditioned for almost a year before finding Jamie Beaumont, who has made a massive difference to the dynamic of the group.

Jamie: Jamie: I joined Dialekt back in 2018 and met the guys through a website called BandMix. I was excited to learn the songs as quickly as I could so I could fully integrate into the band and was excited for future shows which we got not long after.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Dialekt name was invented by the former band frontman Aaron and its purpose was to underline the variety of nationalities – the band consisted with Polish, English and Greek guy back then. A lot have changed since but the band is still multinational with two polish guitarist and English drummer and singer and the name still sticks pretty good.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We're based out of Bedford. The metal scene here is fairly limited but there are a few bands local to the area who are worth checking out. Of those is Black Atlas, a group we played alongside at Oxjam 2018. They made a huge impression on me and were very talented.

4. How would you describe your style?

Each of us have different music taste and influences but we all love metal with all its variations and sub-genres. Our music is mix of nu-metal, alternative and grunge. Hard Roll Hell Metal IV introduced us as "nu metal post grunge metalcore"– hard to put a label on this so better to just check it out.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have already released four singles, two of them with music videos. We also have all of them available on CD if anyone prefer classic ways of listening to the music. Every single is very different from another, but they all have good melodic hooks with a mix of clean and growl vocal. Very rhythmic and powerful – you will like it 😊.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have recently finished writing new song called Legacy, which is already part of our live set,  one kind gentleman recorded just that song from our set at the HRH Metal festival and that'll be the next one we record – you can check it on YouTube. Another one is underway so hopefully you will be able to hear it live in just a few weeks’ time.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We had pretty good winter season, played several smaller and larger gigs around Bedfordshire and surroundings. Don’t have any larger tour contracted as of yet, most of what we're doing for the start of this year is mostly competition based. We are also focusing on the summer season to get slots on some of many open-air festivals around UK while still getting dates for the smaller venues and pubs just to deliver our music everywhere we can.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Just do our thing really. As best as we can hoping that our music will be interesting, and we will find enough audience to keep going. For the immediate plans we will be looking to record another single soon (hopefully before end of the year) and play as many gigs as we can.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

With the digital world we live in – you can listen to Dialekt on pretty much every streaming services, including YouTube. If you prefer to have a physical piece of our music, just reach out to us for the Singles CD we have released around a month ago.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Matt: That's a really tough one so I'll reference a patch of graffiti I saw when I was at my lowest point (thanks at this point to my older brother Luke who gave me the support I needed when I felt as though I'd never see the end of 2016).

"If you're reading this, no matter who you are, two things are true. 1, you're going to die. 2, you haven't yet. The rest is up to you."

Jamie: I’d like the music to have fulfilled its purpose to that individual and the feeling it gave them – whether that person is looking for a song that they want to listen to whilst they’re angry or they’re looking for a more melodic song that they can lose themselves in. If it can fulfill that purpose, then it has done its job as a piece of art. Thanks for having us!

Alternative theatrical rock band SIR CURSE is a 6-piece formed to bring the circus to the big top that is the music scene. With just two single's out currently, more music is surely to follow suite. Find out what else the band had to discuss from below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Sir Curse formed after Ellen (Keyboard) and I (Lyndsay - Vocals) met at University. We started to write music inspired by the Brothers Grimm Fairytales and American Horror Story. We got together with the rest of Sir Curse (Eric, Joe, Bill and Aidan) sometime after we finished University and started writing together.

We all have such different backgrounds but somehow it all still works! Our music is innovative and has so much energy, which is crazy considering how many different styles we fuse together! We’re so theatrical but we also have jazz, metal, country and pop influences.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We wanted a play on the word ‘circus’, as our music is very circus inspired. As we’re so heavily influenced by fairytales and dark side of music, we needed something that was a little sinister too! Sir Curse is a perfect mixture of this! I love people’s reactions when it clicks that Sir Curse is a sort of pun/play on words.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re split between Leeds and Manchester so not too far from each other. Yes, actually! We have some friends in a metal band called Pravitas, they’re doing really well. Their music is really interesting and they’re all round good guys!

4. How would you describe your style?

Theatrical, loud, sinister, and intense!! We’re such a ‘live band’, all our shows are really unique because of the theatrical element to our performances. Each member of the band has a character which they act as on stage. We’ve had a couple great live shows where Bill (Guitarist) will go out into the audience, while going crazy on the guitar, and screaming with people! It’s really fun to watch everyone get in character.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We’ve got two singles out at the moment, and music videos to complement them! Our music has a lot of different styles to it, lots of different influences from jazz to musical theatre! There’s something for everyone. Our second single "Graphite" was just played on BBC Radio 6 via Tom Robbinson.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

"Graphite" is a much heavier tune than our debut single "Tarot". It has a real kick to it with lots of great hooks that you’ll keep singing throughout the day! You can listen to it on all streaming devices including our YouTube Channel.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We’ve just finished our little mini tour around the UK. We’re taking a short break to focus on promoting Graphite and writing new music, then we have another spout of gigs towards the end of Spring. We’re seriously excited for our London show on the 2nd of May. We’re supporting the Electric Swing Circus at Hootananny Brixton!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We really want to keep releasing music and playing bigger shows. We would love to do a festival tour. We’ve just played Boomtown 2019, so our next big festival would hopefully be Glastonbury.
We’re writing constantly, and will hopefully have a new release towards the back end of 2020! We will keep you posted!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to our music on any and all streaming devices, or you can head to our website at www.sircurse.com.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

One by one, each record we release, each piece of merchandise we release, the music videos we create is all a part of an overarching story. If people want to know more they have to listen and watch!

Modernized pop punk band PROMOTIVE have a few single's out, with demo's of different types of sound also in the works currently, with an EP expected to be release sometime this year! Find out what else the band had to say about their style, form, and much more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

All of our bandmates (Jacob Ortiz, Andrew Padilla and Mel Torres) have separately made huge strides in their respective musical careers, including sharing the stage with several nationally-acclaimed artists, playing and touring across the United States (including slots on the Vans Warped Tour), touring internationally, and gaining endorsements from various companies, such as Empire Ears and Rode Microphones. While this band originated as the solo project of our vocalist, Jacob, it has since grown into a much more collaborative effort from all three members of the group.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We thought for a long time about the name and we absolutely struggled until Lee Jennings from The Funeral Portrait told us to keep it simple. From there we work shopped ideas until we landed on Promotive for its simplicity and slightly positive tone to it. In short, we loved how it sounded when we repeated it.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is largely based out of Orange County, California. We live in different cities, but it’s never been an issue driving to each other.

4. How would you describe your style?

We’ve been praised as having that classic mid-to-late 2000’s Warped Tour Pop-Punk sound with a modern production that really helps us stand out. Everyone in the band is a songwriter with an ear for production and that really helps when trying to write a song while coming up with new ideas. Its catchy writing that’s still relevant to those able to hear the message.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

To date, we have our debut single, “Tired” alongside a cover of Post Malone’s, "Circles". Both have music videos and we take extreme pride in both. We love all genres of music and really love incorporating the best parts of rock, pop and we can promise that every song we have has pure emotion and reliability.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have quite a few demos that are all different types of tracks and sounds. A lot of fully fleshed out tracks and some simple keyboard progressions. We have gotten together recently to discuss our game plan for the rest of the year and we definitely will be releasing more content really soon!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

The goal is definitely touring but our approach is a bit different than the average band in our area. We’re looking at ensuring we can deliver the best possible set for the audience for who the show’s for.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We will be releasing more content and music throughout the year. We also are gearing up to finish our EP after we have released a few more tracks. Tour is definitely coming, and we’ve already had plenty of opportunities to play. We just really want to focus on creating the best possible experience for the audience.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We are on every major streaming site available! iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Deezer, etc. We also have our website promotivemusic.com which actually has all our links and music videos!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The main reason I write music is to convey emotion and vent my thoughts on paper, so to speak. So for someone listening to this music, the main thing I would hope for is that they would be able to resonate with the message of the song(s), or be able to connect with them by finding their own meaning in it.

Twisting death metallers SACRIFICIAL SLABS is from the U.K. and currently have one EP release out titled "Gore N Roll", with all new music in discussion. Shows are also in the works as well as more plans for later on this year! Two of the band members, drummer Simon and vocalist Edward take turns in this discussion.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

(S): The band formed in the summer of 2019 by myself and Sarunas, we had previously played in other bands, but decided over a beer or 5 to start a new more extreme project in the vain of Death metal, Grind core, but making sure it had a big groove slam aspect, within 8 weeks we had Sacrificial Slabs up and running even with our debut EP "Gore N Roll" recorded and released.

The original band consisted of myself on drums, Sarunas on guitars, Ludwig lead vocals, Yozii Lead vocals and Arnas on Bass guitars. Unfortunately due to time constraints and personal reasons both Ludwig and Arnas had to leave the band, we are all still in touch and great friends, wrong time and place for us I guess.

Luckily we knew a vocalist called Edward, who filled in straight away on vocals and fitted into the band straight away, Nick on bass joined about 2 weeks after, so no momentum was lost.

Current line up is:

Edward Walls: Lead Vocals
Yozii Sama: Lead vocals
Sarunas: Guitars
Nick Chandler: Bass guitars
Simon: Drums

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

(S): The band name was pretty easy, I had a working title of Slabs, which was a reference to how the powerful treat the rest of us like slabs of meat, or concrete slabs they feel they can walk over, then Ludwig suggested to ad Sacrificial to it, to make it sound more sinister, we all like it, so it stuck.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

(S): The band is based in London and plays shows all over the UK and further afield. Myself and Edward have definitely noticed the Metal scene is on the up, over the past 18 months or so theirs been much more of a buzz around metal shows, and a lot more people coming out to support bands.

(E): There’s a lot of great bands out there, but the 2 at the moment that stick out, Slave Steel, are a great band who have great songs and are awesome guys, the other is Gyomor, who are another example of what London has to offer for fans of a more extreme style of music. It’s a good feeling that real heavy music is on the up again and that we can be involved and even contribute.

4. How would you describe your style?

(E): The whole idea of our bands style is to be extreme, whether that’s the music being a bit Grind core, Death Metal and even a bit Black Metal in places, it’s about extreme, plus with the groovy parts, it makes us all happy. The band in general likes to play in low end, heavy fast and groovy style with extreme vocals, it’s fun we like it.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

(S): Like we touched on before we have and EP out called "Gore N Roll", it’s a bit of a hard one for us, as this whole EP was written and released within 6 weeks of the band really coming together, so a lot has changed since, but the EP is extreme and is the foundation of what we are doing now. If you came to see us now, the vocal style has changed and sits slightly differently than before, which is obvious really as Edward isn’t Ludwig and vice versa.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

(E): We have lots of new music, in fact we’re in talks with studios about our next recording, the newer songs are still extreme, but probably have more going on in them lets say. Also they are brutal, some of the new stuff is going to be crazy.

(S): Yeah I’d agree, the new songs are still, heavy and you’ll tell it’s us playing them, but, there’s much more intensity and more going on, they’re fun to play, and we can’t wait to play them for our fans. We are so looking forward to our live show, it’s going to be insane.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

(S): Where to start with this, Freight train comes to mind, of the chaos and noise the band brings to a stage, and we wouldn’t want it any other way, it’s a cliche but we leave everything on stage, blood sweat, tears but never beers. Hahaha, for us being a new band the fans response has been awesome and without them this band wouldn’t be at the level of playing we are right now.

We have a few shows planned, we are playing this Saturday in Banbury, the following Saturday in London, then on the 2nd of April with The Sickening (Norway and awesome), then more London shows, then off to Bosnia, possible a mini tour of Belgium and Holland in May, in June we’re playing Flex Festival in Romania with the mighty Vader, then more UK shows, after the in August maybe Bulgaria then Rock N Iasi in Romania. I believe more shows after that but not sure.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

(E): As well as the shows we’ve mentioned, ideally another recording by the end of the year, with the possibility of a new album in 2021, mostly though its about playing as many shows as possible, we want to bring the chaos to as many places as possible.

(S): I completely agree with what Edward said, it’s all about playing shows and getting the name out there.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

(E): The usual places, iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, but best of all check where we’re playing and come see us live, that’s where the real fun action is.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

(E): We all remember the first time you heard a group or band play and blow your socks off, that’s exactly what we want to do, we want to be that band that as soon as you’ve heard us, you want to come see us live and see what the hell is going on, we want shock and awe with much more (hahahaha that I’m a poet and didn’t know it), even with what we play we can still stand out and that’s what I want to do as a front man with this band.

(S): I want to blow peoples fucking heads off with our style of music, push the boundaries and help extreme music to be back to where it used to be, we want people to remember us and be like that’s that weird band that has two vocals and is fucked up, but they’re really cool and I want more of that.
If we can get that and get our fans coming back for more, then we’ve won, and we’ll be the happiest guys on the planet. Keep the Slab boys happy.

Juan Sanchez has released what he calls his first album or debut album titled "Rebirth" an EP of material actually. Upon listening, you would think by his namesake that the genre of choice would be something perhaps more exotic in a Latin flavor type of sense. But after hearing the title track play out, his works is purely instrumental with some mixing's of synth's in a multilayered way. The title track is i short, rather satisfying when hearing it. Whilst the other material off the EP such as "Beto", "Heading to Dreamland", and Peaceful Places", even all capture a rather calming tone. It has a very melodically to it, that makes it soft yet soothing at times, just something that has a new age wave, yet effective enough to be enchanting as well. It's a wonderland through and through really, you will hear the trance of this producer, pianist and composer at hand, go at it, for all it is worth. Giving you a real feel of emotions, that males this EP musically different yet truly original. It likely has to be one of those releases that you can throw on, keeping it left on repeat for endless amounts of times. Never ever getting forgetful of it at all. You would rather likely want more and surely Juan Sanchez will deliver as such, in the coming future on his next release that will capture that same type of essence just as this EP "Rebirth" has done already. It is beautiful.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band started from high school which all members bar Kieran attended, It was in 3rd year where Aidan and Callum both decided they wanted to be in a band together and then Jamie was asked to come in and play bass. We went through one or two line up changes however before settling with the current line up we have today.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The bands name came from a song Aidan found on YouTube. One night whilst going through videos he came across the song Flying which was by a band called original Mirrors, the name was then taken and altered to be Flying By Mirrors.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in Glasgow, the scene in Glasgow is one of the best in all of our opinions there is always Opportunities for shows especially for new up and coming bands, the scene in Glasgow also produces some amazing new sounding bands with a lot of them going on to doing really great, a few examples of great new bands at the moment could be people like, Vansleep, swim school, stmartiins, neon waltz, the vegan leather, The Ninth Wave, Nu Cros Ellis Hurley and the Selkies, these are some great established and emerging bands from the scene in Glasgow.

4. How would you describe your style?

Blending their different influences into their music, Glaswegian 'Indie five piece, packed full of goodness' - Flying By Mirrors, bring different sounds to every song they create together. With major influences from; Indie Rock, Rock, Pop and more to create their sounds and guarantee there's a place for everyone in their crowd. 9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find the band on all major streaming platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and Tidal.
