Flying By Mirrors Says Lots About Recent Music and Upcoming!
Alternative indie five piece band FLYING BY MIRRORS have been around for sometime, releasing quite a bit of single's with all new material to come within the next months or so. Discover what else was said about the band's togetherness and future planning ahead of them.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
The band started from high school which all members bar Kieran attended, It was in 3rd year where Aidan and Callum both decided they wanted to be in a band together and then Jamie was asked to come in and play bass. We went through one or two line up changes however before settling with the current line up we have today.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The bands name came from a song Aidan found on YouTube. One night whilst going through videos he came across the song Flying which was by a band called original Mirrors, the name was then taken and altered to be Flying By Mirrors.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based in Glasgow, the scene in Glasgow is one of the best in all of our opinions there is always Opportunities for shows especially for new up and coming bands, the scene in Glasgow also produces some amazing new sounding bands with a lot of them going on to doing really great, a few examples of great new bands at the moment could be people like, Vansleep, swim school, stmartiins, neon waltz, the vegan leather, The Ninth Wave, Nu Cros Ellis Hurley and the Selkies, these are some great established and emerging bands from the scene in Glasgow.
4. How would you describe your style?
Blending their different influences into their music, Glaswegian 'Indie five piece, packed full of goodness' - Flying By Mirrors, bring different sounds to every song they create together. With major influences from; Indie Rock, Rock, Pop and more to create their sounds and guarantee there's a place for everyone in their crowd. From fast melodies fit for boogie to to the slower songs ready to sing along too, this indie band bring an energetic, electrifying demeanor to all of their shows.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
The band so far has released 7 singles, the most recent of them all being Southside. Listeners can expect to find catchy melodies and lyrics that will be stuck in their heads day’s after listening to the songs.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
The band is working on its new material to release in the coming months, we are trying to push our selves out of our comfort zones and push the boat out in terms of our sound to start trying to challenge ourselves and bring a fresher more unique sound to our music.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have some shows lined up for the year the first being on the 27th of March we will be supporting RATS at Broadcast, the show is being put on by This Feeling and In association with Red Stripe Lager. After that we will be back in Glasgow in Late April where we will be supporting Chasing Deer along with the Novacs.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
As far as the future goes our main intention is to continue to write and bring out new music and just take our music as far as it can go and to as wide an audience as we can, that’s the main goal for us all.
