Experimental band PAIN have an album out titled "Cycle Of Hate", with even all new music in the works currently. No plans on playing any shows or touring just yet though. For the time being, the band will continue to write and record music between now into the rest of this year. Find out what else the band talks about, in regards to this album and more below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Pain was started as a solo project from the remains of my band called Third Eye Destruction.
The band started when two friends Kartik (Drummer from Dark Moon Eternity) and Deepanshu Bhoj (Lead Guitarist from Tapasya) decided to start an experimental metal band with no bounds or limits in the composition process. We wanted to create something that we liked to compose and play than to create something commercial that everyone would like. After composing the first 4 official songs including “Feed Humans Not God” we were joined by Abhishek Balooni on vocals, Atishay Jain on bass and Tanishq Kumar on rhythm guitar who were intrigued by what we were doing and wanted to be a part of it. This led to what Pain is today and even if some members are not here the dream lives on through this project and a lot is yet to come.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Pain is a concept that we as humans share the pain and the sky together, so I wanted to unite this pain, the sky we all share through music. Which lead to the band being called Pain and the title track called cycle of hate because in today’s times you can see that people sometimes hurt other people because someone did the same to them. It can be intentional or unintentional but its happening and the cycle of hate continues there is no stop to it because certain people don’t know.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The band is based out of New Delhi, India and the music scene in India isn’t great for new rising talents or local bands. It’s more for popular international bands or cover bands, forget about earning bread and butter out of it. The most unique local band I came across was Tapasya, they had great original compositions and inspired me to create better music. I don’t specifically like any other band from the local scene as I don’t like their original compositions.
4. How would you describe your style?
Boring but our sound is different and intriguing in many ways. Expect the unexpected as our songs are not based on conventional song patterns or structure. It’s technical yet melodic at the same time with a little touch of madness!
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We released an album last year called “Cycle of Hate” in December 2019 across all major streaming platforms and a music video. We have over 60,000 streams with an overwhelmingly positive response. I back in high school would have never expected all this to happen even if I know I was working hard towards it all my life. I am 25 now and I swear it feels great to hear such good things now as we didn’t have the technology or resources for any form of exposure at all. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, I am working on a single, currently, it has been arranged and composed. In the summer, I will collaborate with musicians across the globe to bring this song to life.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
No, not anytime soon. With the feedback I have got on my music I would like to take it in for the time being before rushing anything I am working on a single, currently it has been arranged and composed. In the summer, I will collaborate with musicians across the globe to bring this song to life
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
The plan is to keep composing and releasing music as I always loved composing more than anything else. Right now, I am doing Digital Marketing and analytics and the plan is to support and help the future generations of metal bands to get exposure and support which was not there for us.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I would like the listeners to know that this music was composed by self-taught teenagers who worked hard but got the exposure almost a decade later.
