Subversive Gives the Details On New Music and Playing a Show!
Progressive groove, rock, and metal band SUBVERSIVE have released two singles's with a yet to be released album titled "Dissonance". The band goes into further details about upcoming plans and even a show debut happening this early summer!
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Subversive started in 2018, when Miguel Mateus and Miguel Branco finished composing and
structuring the themes of our first album and started recording the guitars and bass of what would be “Dissonance”. During the recordings we invited David Pais to do an experiment with one of the themes, which corresponded very well, because in addition to do what he idealized for the vocals, he surprised us a lot by the positive, with a phenomenal final result! In late 2018 and still without a drummer, we asked Xinês to record and finish composing the drums for the album. As he recorded and developed the ideas for it was created an interesting connection and Xinês ended up joining the band. After finishing all the recordings, we approach Daniel Cardoso to mix and master our album, a result we are very happy with! Subversive presented on January 19 of 2020 with the release of the first single "Alethea", this date is for us, the official start of the band.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The name was chosen with the sense of always being as original as possible, never attaching
ourselves to labels or genres, being able to make the type of music we want without being
attached to a formula of composition and above all being unpredictable structuring of our themes.
It is difficult in these times to be original but I think we are achieving that. Subversive is also a name linked to what we talk about in our lyrics and the type of environment we try to convey with our sonority.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Our band is based in Portugal and our scene here is very alive and very interesting. There are very good bands that come from many different genres, even within the metal spectrum. I think it has never been as good as it is now.
4. How would you describe your style?
I think we are a creative blend between rock, metal, progressive and groove.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
So far, we have released 2 singles, being the first one “Alethea”, and the second one “Leviathan”.
These songs are both from our upcoming album “Dissonance”, that will be released in the summer of 2020.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We have just finished our debut album, so, for now we are concentrating everything in that. But we are always creating and composing.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
For now, we only have our debut show confirmed on the calendar that will be on the Comendatio Music Fest 2020 on the 7th of June. We will announce new dates soon.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Create more things, and try to be different on each album. Not to repeat ourselves would be interesting. More concerts, too. Maybe be able to tour around the world with bands that we like. That would be the main goal for us.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
