D-Mad Devil's Daichi Says New EP and Music Coming!
Japanese up and comer D-MAD DEVIL is a solo music project, taken the likes of such genres as metalcore, post-hardcore with some melodic hardcore thrown in to be it's own unique blend. Having released only two single's Holding On" and "Giving It Everything", with more songs in the works, including an EP expected sometime in 2020! Find out what else had to be said from Daichi Nathaniel himself below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
D-Mad Devil is a solo music project for metalcore & post-hardcore by a Japan based artist Daichi Nathaniel.
In June 2018, Daichi begun writing and recording songs that included metalcore/post-hardcore styles with his low budget gears alone.
After writing 3 songs alone, in June 2019 Daichi decided to contact with Christian Grey (from Villain of the Story) to feature his vocals on Daichi's song. The project with Christian became Daichi's turning point for his music project. Along with the vocal feature, Daichi had a great opportunity to co-write a song with Christian and learn new things from him. This was Daichi's first project collaborating with professional musicians. In September 2019, he released a single 'Giving It Everything (feat. Christian Grey)' and started his journey as a professional brand.
Songs for D-Mad Devil's upcoming debut EP are being written. The 1st single 'Holding On' from the EP is out now!
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The project name is based on my name "Daichi". Honestly I didn't spend much time to name. But since I felt "D" (from "Daichi") + "Devil" was cool and "Mad" made sense as originality, this name was done.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
I'm from Osaka, Japan. In my country, I feel there are less bands with this style than in US, UK and Australia. However, I know the band that has done great results with close style from the same city. It's Crossfaith. They're really doing sick!
4. How would you describe your style?
My style is based on the music called metalcore or post-hardcore. I am always trying to be a part of the bands/artists attracting many metalcore fans in the world. I am working on an upcoming EP. This will include both post-hardcore and metalcore styles. I feel the first single "Holding On" should be called "post-hardcore" style, but there will also be upcoming songs that will actually be felt like "metalcore".
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
I have released some singles so far. "Giving It Everything" was my first release as a professional, which featured a metalcore vocalist Christian Grey from Villain of the Story (US). That is a stand alone single, but still special track for me. This song also reached many gaming player through Spotify playlists.
The new single "Holding On" is from my upcoming EP. This is reaching new audiences and now getting many responses. On the EP, there will be 6 songs including a track featuring Christian Grey again. Though I'm still on the way to write the songs for the EP, I'm sure this will excite many metalcore fans.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Same as above.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
No plan about shows and touring yet. I am currently on the way making 6 songs EP. Writing songs should come first.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
The most important goal for me is finishing the EP. Next, marketing it rightly. There seem to be many methods for music marketing. I am learning one of the right methods I think.
