GETRZ Talks of New Music With Current Times!
Four piece indie/alternative band GETRZ has been around for a short while, but have left a solid impact upon the scene as it were. Releasing a handful of single's and even an EP, with even newer music already in the works as well.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We started back in 2017 as a pretty different band. We leaned more towards a traditional Indie Rock sound back then, compare it to our sound now and it’s much heavier and darker (and better we hope!). The band is made up of four members, all residing in Swindon, UK. Josh Heather on Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, Dec Casey on Vocals/Lead Guitar, Toby Pollitt on Bass Guitar and Dan Geary on Drums. We all met through each other and going out on the town at night, Dec and Dan have known each other since they were 6! Upon realizing that we all had a passion for live music, it only seemed right to form a band and the rest is history!
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
That’s something we’ve kept a secret for a while! Only a select few know the true meaning of the name. It’s quite funny really but all we’ll say is ‘Coffee and Donuts’. Do with that as you please.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We’re based out of Swindon, UK. The local live music scene here is amazing. It’s really grown in size over the past couple of years and it’s been so great to be a part of it for the 3 years we’ve been a band! There’s a wide community of both promoters and punters behind every venue and show, it really does feel special. Everyone is just supportive of each others ventures and we have a real wide variety of kick ass bands. Check out Concord Drive and All Ears Avow, both really rocking bands putting out great tunes!
4. How would you describe your style?
In years we’ve spent developing our sound, it really has varied. I think we’ve found our footing sonically in the past year or so. We stopped writing music we thought people would want to hear and started writing based on what was just fun to play. That’s the thing we found with music in general, it’s all subjective so someone SOMEWHERE is gonna dig your tune. So just have fun with it you know? Our sound sort of represents our live show, raucous and loud. We all love guitar music and Rock N Roll so when it comes to putting that across ourselves, we tend to lean towards loud, distorted guitars and a nice, big riff. Anything that gets our heads banging and our devil fingers out.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We’ve released multiple singles and an EP with our new single ‘I Want It Now’ just released last Friday May 24th 2020. You can expect pounding guitars and drum grooves, catchy melodies and hopefully a new favorite band!
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
With the COVID-19 quarantine in place around the world, we’ve been spending a lot of time writing new music. As soon as we’re able to get back in the studio, you can bet we’ll be laying down some new tracks.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We did have another tour in the works alongside some festivals this summer too. With the majority of events being cancelled, it’s a tough time for all artists at the moment. You can still find us on our social media live streaming a few songs from our homes! Again, once all this is over we’ll be sorting out some shows. We’re itching for a gig!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Just keep smashing the circuit, playing all over the country and hopefully exploring some more of Europe! We’ve done a few shows out in Paris over the years and we love it out there. Always a great show. We’ve got plans to tour the US next year with a couple bands we know out there, so fingers crossed we can get that sorted post-pandemic!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Check us out on all streaming platforms plus YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. (@getrzband) We also have a merch store where you can buy T Shirts and CDs etc! (getrz.bigcartel.com)

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
We’d like to take comfort in the thought that our music could make someone happy. Sounds clique but that’s why we listen to music right? Sonically, I think a lot of listeners remember a chorus hook or even a guitar line! We’ve had people singing back the actual guitar riff to us at shows! Madness.
