Silent Saga Says Say Tuned for New Music with Lots More In-Store!
Modern melodic metalheads SILENT SAGA have a debut album "RISE!" along with an EP "FIRE". More material is underway of course, with them continuing to create music, not knowing what to expect next! Find out what else was said from the band below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We are Silent Saga based in Hamburg. We go all the way back to 2002, when we started working in Brazil under the name of Amazon. After we relocated to Hamburg, Daniel and Carsten joined the band in 2017. They had been playing in the local scene for decades and were the perfect fit to the band's music and style. We are now working on our second full length album under the current brand, and the 4th since we started in 2002. Back in Brazil, we had the chance to play with some of the greatest metal names in the country, like Shaman and Dr. Sin, and also as a support act for some of the world's biggest FFM bands, like Nightwish and Epica.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
When rebranding - the name "Amazon" was kinda "taken" in Europe :P - we came up with several different and very good options, but we thought that Silent Saga relates so well to one's life, especially in current times where social media strangles real life in ways that humankind never experienced before, and everyone has to deal with their own loneliness when they look away from their screens. We think this applies to musicians even further, as no one else knows how much blood and sweat there is behind an artist's work. It's beautiful and amazing when done, but every artist, when not performing, lives their very own Silent Saga to create the work before putting it out there to the world.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are in Hamburg right now. The city has a very lively yet very competitive music scene. There are world class musicians around here and tons of bands of every genre. Two bands from our region we think should be highlighted are Aeternitas and Black Hawk.
4. How would you describe your style?
I think every band has a hard time describing their own style. We have symphonic metal elements, some thrash metal riffs, a lot of NWOBHM and hard rock influences. At the end of the day we go under the Female Fronted Metal umbrella, which seems to be getting some politically correct heat lately, but it still describes the band quite well I think.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have released our first full length "RISE!" in 2018, which was produced by Sander Gommans, Amanda Somerville and Ivo van Dijk, and an EP called "Fire" with 3 songs from our upcoming album.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes! We intend to release new songs soon! There will be some releases before the full album, so stay tuned!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Well... corona.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
We will keep making music for sure. We don't know what expects metal bands and clubs in the future. Things are changing. We hope to be able to tour next year, but there's a lot of things to be solved before that.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Everywhere! We are on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, Apple Store... you name it! But of course, if you want to buy directly from us, we'd be very very very thankful, so check out our website silentsaga.com and get our music and our merch on the webstore. Also, don't forget to subscribe to the newsletter to get a free download of one of our songs and tons of other cool stuff.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
That there are many perspectives on life and the things each of us go through daily, and it's probably better to question everyone else's than believing them no matter how appealing they sound. No one else will be there when you lay your head on your pillow, and you'll have to live with the choices you make. Our music is not about guiding the listeners to a specific view on this or that subject, it's about remembering them that it's ok to change your mind, start fresh, disagree, have principles and values of your own, be the best you can be for yourself and for the ones you love. Ultimately we are all about the inner revolution.
