Chasing Apparitions Talks of Hiatus, Music, and Never Stopping!

Metalcore djent go getters CHASING APPARITIONS started off fine, going as far as releasing a debut EP. But soon after which caused the band to go on a hiatus, only to come back a few years later. Now the band has a full fledged line-up that won't stop the band from stopping or going anywhere else but to the top! The band goes into talks about their music, hiatus break and much more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members:

Back in 2016 Josey Stines (guitarist/vocalist) started Chasing Apparitions with Javin Foncannon (vocalist). We wrote an EP entitled “The Hedonist”. Shortly before heading to the studio we got a guy named Jordan Trumble to play guitar. The band eventually took a hiatus after recording the EP. In 2019 Josey decided it was time to get back to making music. Josey worked with Jacob Ortengren to write “Am I Worth Saving?”, recruited Justin Stubbs to fill in for vocals. Chasing Apparitions has never had a full line-up but that isn’t going to stop us from going anywhere.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I want to say that it’s something I saw on Tumblr once, I’ve tried to find the post saying it again, but I’ve yet to find it. To me the meaning of the name is Chasing Apparitions, chasing your dreams. Something that seems unattainable or just out of reach. Like you can feel it slip through your hands.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band’s “home base” is Terre Haute, IN. That’s where I do everything. But the members are scattered. Josey lives in Indiana. Justin lives in Louisiana. & Jacob lives in Sweden.  The local bands I would recommend are Soulseeker & Relics. One of my goals next year is to tour with either of those bands. They’re really killing it.

4. How would you describe your style?

Metalcore. Djent.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far we’ve released an EP called “The Hedonist” back in 2016. On May 8th we released our single “As Above, So Below” On August 7th we will be releasing the second single “L’appel Du Vide”. FFO: Born of Osiris, Architects, Fit For a King

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

On August 7th we will be releasing the second single “L’appel Du Vide”. We will be releasing more music shortly after, with an EP coming out before the end of the year. Stay up to date on our socials to find out when.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

As it stands right now only having 2 full-time band members & COVID-19 shutting everything down. I don’t see that as a possibility, however I would love to do a small run in 2021 if I can make it happen.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Chasing Apparitions plans on releasing “Am I Worth Saving?” later this year & in the winter time we plan on going back in the studio to start writing a 2021 record. We want to be able to consistently push new music out so our fans are never getting a drought from us.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The lyrics. I want you to remember it's okay to be sad or mad about the current state of the world. It’s okay for you to not understand what’s going on around you or how to deal with your own mortality. You’re not alone.
